So many people intent on reading deeper meaning without being willing to look even slightly below the surface of the material. How about this, instead of accusing the movie of deeper meaning without re-interpreting the actions of the characters, we do both. This is after all a story, and stories grow, shrink, and even drastically change in the telling and re-telling. Young child suffers family accident, leads to survivor's guilt and taking responsibility for the accident onto themselves, rightly or wrongly. Young child's family seeks to prevent future accidents by severely controlling the actions of the child. Child grows up into a young adult, and family can no longer fully control them. Now young adult experiences more of the world. During these experiences, young adult learns that not everything they've bold told is bad is really bad, begins to seek self-validation rather than validation through parents. When returning to parents, they attempt to control the young adult again. Young adult resists while trying to keep parents in their life. Young adult finally cuts ties with parents, undergoing the incredible pain yet amazing freedom of removing said shackles. Parents also experience pain. Young adult's bravery in removing their shackles in search of freedom helps give others the courage to do the same. There, a valid reinterpretation of the story that can relate to anyone. Didn't mention the supernatural, religion, feminism, or anything controversial...unless you consider a child leaving the safety of home for freedom out in the world as they grow older controversial. Movies can be interpreted to mean almost anything. Want to make it a story about how feminists are all sociopaths? You can do that. Want to make it a story about how religion oppresses free thought, often times in ways that have no real benefit? You can do that. Want to make it just a weird story somebody thought up while they were high? Certainly possible. Who knows, maybe they were trying to tell the exact generic story I laid out, but knew that nobody would find it interesting without murder, religion, the supernatural, and lesbians. I doubt it, but it is possible. Also worth mentioning that this is a movie short, not a complete movie. Having watches several shorts for movies that I have watched in their entirety, a lot gets lost in the summation. Jumping to conclusions about what deeper meaning the creators were trying to tell based on a summary is about as smart as doing everything somebody tells you to just because they have perceived authority over you...and all of their commands are given to you second hand through a messenger...who is speaking a different language.
She murdered her father and proceeds to still go to the university that he most likely is paying for. There was no limit to what she could do in theory. So why not make it so her father didn’t want to control her anymore? Or fucking bring her brother back to life? Instead she kills her father abandons her mother and goes on to have a relationship with someone who she probably mind controlled into infatuation. I’m not talking about meaning just actions. There is leaving the safety of home. This is the destruction of a home. She’s practically a cuckoos egg
@@thelasso9478 Not to nitpick, but since it is Scandinavia in general and Norway in particular, university is free. So parents aren't paying for a thing in that regard.
It'd be fine if the writers/directors had the same mindset as you, but a lot of people just believe that isn't the case. I believe the themes of killing the patriarchy and the family unit were intentionally written into the script, and that's the thing that makes me not even want to like the film. I think it was written and filmed well and was original in a lot of it's ideas, but I won't recommend it to anyone because of the intentions. @@speakerz74 it is not a riddle but an allegory slightly misquoted from the Christian Bible Matthew 17:20 (NIV): Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Now if someone say, your smile is as bright as the sun.... obviously that simile/metaphor does not mean the person's face is similar to the "sun." And as far as having "faith" goes, it is believing in things not physically seen and expecting an outcome to physically happen such as telling a physical mountain to move just like the main character and her grandmother did and these objects (people) move. The father did not deserve it? Maybe, but why should the movie give every character, what they deserve? Because that is what Hollywood movies usually do?
She seems to be some sort of witch based on Scandinavian folklore.
they should put a warning sign on this video that it might induce epileptic attacks.
seeing the many flickering lights in the video.
one thing that dont make sense is if she could make people disappear why they never thought of her bringing people back to life or reappearing
At the end I was like
Wait what, her father was the bad guy?
All these people saying the father doesn't accept breaking his religious rules, when he literally did accept her. So I don't quite get where your coming from their chief
So she turned her father into a bird & let him go!
Killed her dad so she can be with a woman wow what a movie#!!!
But her dad wasn't stopping her from being with women.
@@Chris-rg6nm her dad literally drugged her when she got home

@@NeoCherrn no no you’re right. It was actually one of the things that annoyed me the most so it’s not a nitpick.
Everything was fine except for whole "man bad, kill man." part. If she's going to kill her father horrifically at the end, at least make it so that the audience has at least ONE reason to think he deserved it. Just my opinion.
@@thelasso9478 Okay clearly you don't know what "murder" means. She didn't murder anyone.
6:02 if you don't come back here and clean this shit up!
The clickbait made be think this was about tentacles
That thumbnail is like WHAAAATTTTT?!?!?
Wow that story is amazing the scene with her dad catching on fire goes into the water then after coming back up catches fire again in very creative 11:51 Nice ending
Gretta Thurnburg wishes 🤣🤣😭🤣🤣
the father could have avoided this whole thing by just not having kids much cheaper and you don't get killed by your reality breaking daughter like dud you know its in the blood line just let it end with you
He was a kind Father. and this movie is deep woke hell.
@@patriotenfield3276 And you know he was a "kind Father", because the "deep woke hell" shows as much.
The movie does not portray him as some random villain, it portrays him as loving father and husband. Sure, he does some stuff that would be deemed unacceptable under most circumstances (I take it you do not sedate or burn your children), but his circumstances are rather unique and he does what he believes is the best for everyone, including Thelma. He can not bring himself to kill his daughter on multiple occasions (despite his wife seemingly urging him to), but at the same time he knows how devastating her powers may be for everyone, including the women who posses them.
I loved this so much.
Thank god there's a recap. If i actually watched this i wouldn't make it through the first half an hour. Lol
Same bro
Before the Scarlet Witch, there was Thelma.
i thought i was on wrong website
So basically she had to except who she is to be able to use her abilities how she wanted.
where did anja go? was it explained in the movie?
Sooo is this supposed to be the consequence of a lack of accountability?
The thumbnail is sus
Movie: Thelma (2017)
What the hell did I just watch?
Amazing. But can she walk on water?
GREAT SUMMARY BUT 👁 AM STILL LOST!!!!!!!!!!
Why did she killed her baby brother?
Because he was getting her and ONLY her attention.
Took half the movie to explain why he aimed the gun at her.
This is basically carrie but lesbian
When I saw the film, I did not realise, that it was because of the touch from Thelma, that Unni got able to walk normally again. Thanks for telling it.
I am so confused, in what way was this a prequel to Thelma and Louise?
Was the father really a villain tho
How weird is it that you cone across a recap where the main character has the same type of seizures I have. Lol
That thumbnail tho
IS THAT FUCKING OKAYKAYA ?!!! IM CRYING RN WOWOWOWOWO OMG AND SHES LESBO ! IM LIVVVVVINGGG RN LMAO
This is basically just an X-men film about a reality-morph, only professor X never shows up.
So she has her powers back but didnt do anything about the baby she froze/drowned to death?
so its all the father's fault now? wow
yeah it is. if he knew his daugther had the same powers he should've educated her on how to use it instead of forcing her to be religious
@@homurastan2927 is their a masterclass course or a udemy course for teaching people to use murderous powers sry mb i didn't know abt that
@@homurastan2927 Yeah clearly telling her she can do anything is better than letting her live a normal life. Clearly nothing can go wrong, and clearly there is no chance of her killing everyone if she decides that all people are bad.

@@jaideepshekhar4621 if i decide all people are bad i can grab a knife and go to town. It's called a moral compass, shes not mentally disabled, if her dad had taught her to be a good person instead of a religious freak none of the movie wouldve happened
Name movie?
I wish I had a girl-friend who’ develop feelings for me
Seizure warning. Lots of blinking lights about half way in.
I am surprise that there's a real record of this forbidden gift and there's a lot of novel and movie describing this gift. There's a certain conditions needs to be fulfilled in order to use the gift at will, learning the mechanic and certain arts is a must to keep it under control.
The Gift had many names, just imagine if an assasin gets this gift, he/she could have the chance to be the best Assasin of all time, I will call the Gift "Twin Demon's Wish"
Are you referring to manifestation? Or willing something into your reality? I don't know how to explain it but I've been experiencing things like that.
@@dotbarcode.671 that's not good you need to seek spiritual help to check if there's a lingering entities on you,
That gift is some sort of dangerous and tricky, you can't call it power or ability since its not an ability from you that you made its like wishing for something and that wish needs to be heard by some high ranking entities and grant it, The movie did a good job explaining things little by little, its just a scary dangerous gift, I would love to call it a curse but its not, since this gift will never be remove, if your one of the lucky humans to have it by "birth" and only by that way, you should learn to meditate and control your emotions and to intentionally breaking the link to the wish granter by meditation, just imagine the damage this gift can bring to this world if it is given into a human with broken childhood and developed a rotten habits early on in his life.
@@Cat_Trainer I don't sense it as a bad thing, more good than bad event occur. Things like me hoping to hear from some people or me predicting what someone is thinking and what they might say.
It's strange but I'm getting used to it, I slow my thinking down and I'm not as emotional as I was when I was younger.
This movie sounds scary
Wtf 4:00min the voice change scared me
Surprisingly...not (that much of)a bad ending...
to summarise my reaction: "ok"
8:55 ah so we're on Run 2
What was the point of the movie
So, kind of like Firestarter or Scanners.
5:50 true cuz that's not weed. Weed saves life's.
Wait so was the dad a piece of shit ?? And why no justice with the mom if that's the case ? Always single out the dads lmao
I hope you talk like this whenever you go to the bank or the grocery store. Ppl would send a bunch of drop kicks your way lol.
Manifesting is some real shit.
If you need an explanation for this film, read xmen comics. If you think thelma is good and her dad is evil, you need to watch the film again.
i did not expect this movie to have a happy ending
Subjective. This movies ended with a murderous sociopath with mind bending powers getting away. Not a happy ending.
why does stuff like this show up in completely unrelated searches. youtube's algos are pretty junk.
Movie name?
What name movie
The name “Trond” though
So basically this movie is about a reality Bender.
What a sick movie!
Even though it had some good ideas!
She never killed her father. She is under illusion. Reality stops for her the night her father left the door. Father gives her dose her grandma got. There’s no way Anja could alive again. It is only in her illusion. She is now in forever dreaming state.
This was a really awesome movie! Loved it! All of it! The ending was perfect imo. I just wish that there was more of an explanation about her powers. Like where do they originate from and how did these powers become a thing for her family members? Do they only get passed to the women in her family? Are they meant to be a curse, or a gift? What exactly can she do with them? We saw she can make people disappear and teleport them to other places. And we saw that she was able to heal her mother's disabilities. And we see that she destroy things and kill people with them.. What else can she do with them? Can she build and create things? Can she heal herself if she needs to? Do they give her a longer life? Can she see future events? I just wish there was more of an explanation about the powers.
Not where I saw this going.
Damn interesting movie
Who wrote this and what was the moral message 🤔....None!
What kinda feminist satanic move is this lol the dad wasn’t even all that bad. If anything she’s the villain.
her dad literally made her grandma become a vegetable, wanted to shoot her when she was a child, willingly put her hand over fire to remind her of what "hell is like" and drugged her. Shes not the villain for accidently killing 2 people.
People in the comments need to watch the actual movie. It’s actually a really good film and y’all are getting it twisted because you’re not watching the actual scenes and dialogues, which summaries can’t capture and translate well enough
This is kinda crazy honestly I might watch it
i AM CONFUSED If the script writter was drunk or drugged
Dude, give a damn seizure warning, Jesus.....
Seizure warning! Omg
Frozen 3.
What is the name of the movie?
Thelma
I feel like the narrator tries to make the movie more horror-like by sounding like that... and I think that's a big fail. It rather took me out of it
without fearing what her father will do to her" yes, because she kill him... this movie was great till we got to the woke part "kill the patriarchy!" "my body my choice!" and "i am a proud virgin lesbian!"
As a side note, all humans have that superpower, it's called Faith. And i know before you all go "religion, blah blah blah!" well that is not the case, Faith is knowing for sure something you expect will happen for certain. Like moving mountains, only if our faith is bigger than a mustard seed.
except faith isn't a physical thing so it obviously can't be Bigger than a mustard seed, so thats just a stupid riddle. what if i said: if you can get angrier than a peach you'll be able to fly.
@@speakerz74 If faith is not physical so is love, fear, hate and so many other human emotions. Yet it is influencing your desire to be who you are, which inversely legitimates these metaphysical aspects. To say faith isn't a physical: sure, but it isn't something to ignore or deem it "dumb"
@@mycarrace4622 no i said faith isn't a physical thing so it can't be compared to physical objects, the fact that emotions influence action has NOTHING to do with with this dumb riddle, again it would be like i said "if you have love the exact same size as an avocado core, you can activate a volcano" see clearly dumb BS and everyone knows it
@@speakerz74 it is not a riddle but an allegory slightly misquoted from the Christian Bible Matthew 17:20 (NIV): Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Now if someone say, your smile is as bright as the sun.... obviously that simile/metaphor does not mean the person's face is similar to the "sun."
And as far as having "faith" goes, it is believing in things not physically seen and expecting an outcome to physically happen such as telling a physical mountain to move just like the main character and her grandmother did and these objects (people) move. Now seeing you quibble about not comparing the size of "emotion" to something clearly shows that you do not have such a thing call "faith" much less empowering your mind to move anything. 😉
@@nathaliewilson1817 ok but do we agree that metaphors have no literal truth? i can't help but feel like you're implying there's some hidden truth that i can't see.
