As I understand it this kind of thing happens all the time. Paul paid for the whole thing.

Rob is just the classic case of a guy that was a nerd for most of his life, then got some recognition, popularity and success and then turned into a bully and egomaniac.
Spot on. Rob is demonstrating classic narcissism which is fuelled by his online success. I was considering buying a guitar from his brand but I started noticing his ego complex more and more.
Got to play them when they did that US tour years ago, not really that special, pales in comparison to PRS SE, LTD and Schecter guitars that come out of the same (at the time) factory.
I had an ML3 for a short time, it wasn't a shit guitar, just didn't get played much, I just kept going back to my Yamaha SG 1000, made in the 70's in Japan and a much higher standard.
Well, I guess no one can write great guitar music and post them on RUclips now. I mean, it's been getting kinda stale for the last few months... There's only a few very good materials to listen to nowadays and all we've been hear are the same bland and boring stuff. Only from RUclips guitarists though, there are tons of great music out there made by non-RUclips guitarists and I'm grateful for them. They're different kind of breed and content creators is not musician. That's a fact. RUclips musicians are content creators first, musician last.

Lewis yes. He’s clearly a narcissist - they are often very successful people because of how driven they are. But this narcissism and egoism has got himself into a lot of crap here - he pulled in too many strands involving other people and lies. Needlessly.
Ride Yer Camel he’s basically a narcissist - they can be very very personable people. That personality type “works” - it can make you very successful. But they do tend to leave a bit of a wake which is what’s exploded here.
I enjoyed The Captain in that series, but Chapman began getting on my nerves so I stopped watching, and I watched a lot of their stuff when I started out with the guitar 2 years ago.

The way Chapman talks, it's as if he's been building up "good deeds" that he can spend on saving his reputation. He needs to stop treating this situation as some kind of figurative transaction as it just makes it worse.
I’ve heard so many horrendous things regarding Rob Chapman that none of this surprises me. Happy to see his guitars being removed from both U.K. and U.S. outlets. I feel so sorry for my friends who have had to deal with him over the years. At least they kept him away from their endorsements. I hope that the dismissal of his brand is a wake up call for him and that he can find the humility to apologise to those most scathed by his actions. It feels a bit inconsiderate to jump on someone with such a fledgling company but at the same time it’s important to conduct yourself humanely; even in business. Subscribed mate. Keep up the good fight.
I stopped watching Rob's videos a couple of years ago. Just thought he was a jerk... Stopped watching Jared Dines too. Just not funny anym and I'd rather watch real guitar videos anyway...

My only ONE rule is to never make fun of other people's guitar playing skills regardless if you have a lot of subscribers or not. I'm aware of my own flaws and heck, I'm even below average, maybe even lower than below average but I continue to learn and play guitar because it relieves me of my anxiety and depression. I'd rather focus on improving myself than make fun of other guitarist. He's a perfect example of a man-child.
I have an entire response video to Rob’s I have not published. I have an hour and a half long interview with Riff City I cannot publish (no permission). Just one correction I can see... To be honest i find these kind of videoes really depressing. Not becasue of what they are avout but that the people who make them find it as a pilgrim to digg and make false and missleading information maybe also correct. Of a thing people actually has nothing to do with at all. And people are so stupidly butthurt. I feel sad that this is stuff people use time on. Well. Things have way more then 3 sides. Both ends, middle way, not even anyones, some tricky curvy middleroad between it all. And the side who does not see the light of day

There was something increasingly disgusting about Rob for last few years. As he grew as a businessman, he changed from a genuine and funny bloke to a full-of-shit salesman. I’m kinda glad it’s not just my perception. His latest behavior is just a logical next step.
I'm in the same boat as you. I don't know or care what they are going on about. and what is the deal with grown men calling other grown men bullies like they are in 3rd grade. Weird.

Robert Chapman has always been a "wanna-be rock star", but never had the guitar chops, nor the voice, nor the looks (even with cheesy dreadlock "hair extensions"). Then he got into musical instruments manufacturing business, as a designer and a dealer ... the manufacturing side of this business being handled by Asian companies for the major part of the production so far. The problem with this guy is that he hasn't yet decided to become a "real full time businessman" and fully embrace all the business aspects of that profession ... he's basically an aging baby boy in a candy store, playing with adults. There's nothing wrong with this musical manufacturing business, and he definitely should forget about "social medias" and the nonsensical half backed rocker career, and should concentrate on hard core business management. I don't believe that he's a bad dude ... he's just confused, and needs to focus, that's all.
@Human Resources 100% agreed ! And a total lack of sense of responsibility. I mean, when you decide to do business on a medium to large scale, then you need to 1stly pay attention to the people involved in your business with you, and you can't be and react like a little baby boy anymore.
I never really liked Rob’s videos or his personality in the Andertons videos. But I did buy two of his guitars (of reverb 2013 era) and I really love the guitars. I don’t really enjoy playing the newer Chapmans.

I don't care too much about this drama, so my major takeaway from Rob's Truth was that every single guitar on the wall had a reverse headstock. I am also in the strong resentment towards reverse headstocks - camp.
I have always loved the look of a reverse headstock.George Lynch was one of my guitar heroes back in the 80s and I still think he has some of the coolest looking guitars ever made. To each his own.
I remember e-mailing Rob as a HUGE Dorje fan asking if they carried or could specially make merch in my size offering to pay extra. They only sell xxl's and xxxl's lol. I'm a 4'9 120 female. not a 200 pound man. I got told women don't listen to their music as a response. What a comment from a full grown man.
@illuminOz the UK does in fact have statutory rape laws. A quick Google search will show you that. Doesn't make blackmail right, however. Honestly if someone is convicted of banging kids under the age of consent, those beans should be spilled. regardless.
@foxtrot889 which also means that an accusation made in falsehood can be taken as slanderous and is nearly as bad as the offense itself. In most countries where the mere hearsay that a pedophile, accusational validity or not, lives on a nearby street, see how long that person feels welcome or safe in their own home. The false accusation of any sexual crime is FUCKED UP and can be punished as a felony if the damage done was at its core a malicious act.
I hate what happened to Riff City. I live near one of their locations and I loved going there. It was a great store plus the people who worked there were even better. One of them even let me interview him for a school paper. I loved going to chat with all of the employees along with Joe and just have a fun time. It was the best music store experience I have ever had. Really bummed about the whole thing.
We all are. The only thing we can do is spread the good word of the local music store. Nothing wrong with supporting local music stores in your community. The more you shop there the more they grow. That's just it.
It is reassuring that Andertons have remained very loyal to Rob. Lee Anderton, who strikes me as one of the nicest guys on and off the internet, obviously has a lot of love for Mr Chapman. I can't help but feel he must be quite concerned and saddened by the amount of negativity currently surrounding his friend, and how this might affect the Andertons brand. It seems Lee and Rob have two very different relationships with RUclips - one is quite pragmatic in recognising the huge commercial value of a multifaceted guitar-centric multi-channel approach to marketing a successful music gear and Instrument retail brand and exploiting it in a very entertaining and professional way, whilst Rob's vibe is extremely nuanced, much less predictable and with many different agendas simultaneously in play. I quite like Rob Chapman's RUclips stuff, particularly his collaborations with Andertons. I just think he needs to reevaluate his personal relationship with the platform and decide exactly where it figures in his life right now, because I see storm clouds on the horizon.
Rob's fanboys in the comments obviously didn't pay attention the whole vid. Rob lied about stuff, people expose the lies, fanboys then complain "you just want more views" ad nauseum.
As one philosopher said once in a talk: "Whenever someone tells something about you, you have to ask yourself: 'is it true?'. Then if it isn't, why am I getting offended or defensive about it? For example, you can clearly see I am bald. If someone comes to me and tells me that, what am I going to say? No? I am bald!" Rob's response comes out strange, as many people already commented. There's no apology, no accountability. It's also interesting that he names his response video "My Truth" as well. Why would you name a clarification video like that in the first place if your intentions are not to suggest other people are lying about you and you're right? You can also see in Levi's screenshot that Rob also gives a deadline for his comment to be removed in a fairly authoritarian manner. For someone that claims to be this benefactor that donates sums of money he always make sure to mention whenever convenient, there's something weird. When too many people are criticizing you with evidence to back it up, they might be right.
@@ebjazz93 Truth can be as offensive as anything else, especially if the target is trying to hide it, which is clearly the case here. As I mentioned in another video, it's Rob's word telling you everyone is lying against several people with evidence that backs their accusations, including one article full of pictures from Riff City calling Rob on his lies.
So much drama for a guitar company that doesn't actually make guitar. I have the utmost respect for the actual luthiers and manufacturers from Indonesia and Korea who make it their life's work to bring us quality instruments at an affordable prices. But an internet personality who just slaps his name on the headstock of an OEM product? Zero respect even without all the Chapman toxicity. Knowing how he treats people now my regard for him is in the negative.
Something always rubbed me the wrong way about this guy. He always seemed egoic and even obnoxious when he's trying to be funny. Now I see how deceptive he is. It's all becoming clearer now.
I actually unsubbed to Chapman about two years ago because he started putting forward a really negative vibe, it'd been years in the process... but yeah, I assume he's an okay dude, but I just don't trust him.
@Gennady Golovkin I mean, he's probably good to his wife and kids and stuff... I doubt he's evil or anything, just self absorbed and willing to take advantage of others to get what he wants.
Rabea appears to be a really nice and genuine person and often shows humility, something i've seldom seen in Chapman. Rabea obviously knows when to walk out of a room and keep quite when someone squats out a fresh one.
I hadn’t watched a Rob Chapman video in probably three years, so before all this stuff came to light. I used to look up to him as he seemed to be a guy who worked at a music store, was passionate about guitars and gear, and he was also talented. When it came to potential gear choices, I trusted few other people than Chappers from when I was 18-20. Hearing all this stuff kinda makes me sad, but at the same time I’m questioning those who I’ve looked up to.
Clearly you care if you watched it and commented, oh and whats this? Seems i do too since im replying? Boy the world works in mysterious ways don't it.

Dude, it meant so much more than you know when you called it "the guitar scene", lol. Bunch'a middle aged rich kids inventing highschool drama over who has the brightest string tone or whatever the fuck. I used to watch this shit to learn, but more often than not, it's all bitchery and wankery, no real content. Now i watch to waste time and laugh at nerds. RUclips changes people, man. It's fucked.
I'm in the "guitar scene" right now and I'm strongly considering to sell my guitar and get a bass to join the davie504 slappers army. Too much useless drama in here.
Rob is a mediocre, boring guitarist that was a nerd in his youth, and now that he has some fame and popularity, it gives him that self serving recognition he never got, so its gone to his head and has given him a self imposed righteousness.
Watching some Andertons video a couple of weeks ago, my wife simply said of Chappers: “I don’t like that guy”. She’s a pretty good judge of character. I used to really enjoy Rob’s videos back in the day when he seemed to really enjoy imparting knowledge and helping people out. There was and still is no doubt he’s got a great ear (blind test vids), but success and perhaps having some money now seems to have changed him. I owned a Chapman ML1 some years ago and it was a decent enough guitar for Squier and Epiphone sort of money, but the prices have been inflated so much over just a few years that there’s no way I’d but one now.
I watched Rob's response video when he posted it and I got some weird vibes from it. The way he was flailing his arms about the whole time and the constant looking away from the camera during his "name dropping" part really gave me the inclination that he was spitting self righteous bullshit. Big life lesson: If you want to get away with a lie, let your eyes emphasize your talking more so then your hands and arms. That's a lot harder to do with someone face to face, but for him to not be able to do that in front of a camera...Meh, it seemed sketchy at best.
I think Rob has made the same mistake as games companies, trying to be buddy buddy while also being a business, the business will always win, but the business man rarely realizes this or rather rarely realizes the effect it has on the onlooker, because we're not stupid. I stopped watching Rob quite a few years ago and started following Rabea instead, because Rob was way more a business man than a youtuber, it was like a business man who's minimally likable and tries to use that likability to further his business, even if it's not on purpose, that's what it looks like to the audience. I have nothing against Rob, and i'm not sure he deserves some of the shit he's getting, but he does need a wake up call to understand that he has to choose; either you're a retailer or a youtuber, you can't be both. Especially you can't use your "youtuber" status to act ignorant toward the business side of things, which is his biggest mistake in this particular case with his response video.
Agreed .. he’s now making a lot of money out of Chapman guitars ... this is feeding his ego but also making him far more aggressive in his defence as he now has something valuable to protect
"I stopped watching Rob quite a few years ago and started following Rabea instead" Same here. I suppose I have to thank Rob for being my introduction to Rabea, but I stopped following him (Rob) years ago. I love pretty much everything Bea puts out.

I find the “no brand owner has done as much as I have!” very ironic - Phil McKnight, for example told the story about when he had his guitar store open in Arizona I believe, Paul Smith actually flew him out to Maryland and had a dinner meeting with a bunch of other store owners and basically asked them what they thought he could be doing better. As I understand it this kind of thing happens all the time. Paul paid for the whole thing.

Do you know why Rob moved to some island. Does it have something to do with all the shit storm surrounding him?

@illuminOz the UK does in fact have statutory rape laws. A quick Google search will show you that. Doesn't make blackmail right, however. Honestly if someone is convicted of banging kids under the age of consent, those beans should be spilled. regardless.
@illuminOz irrelevant anyway, since KDH is not FROM Great Britain.
Riff City was a great store. I never liked Chapman guitars but they carried Reverend and they are great axes.
Speaking as a rev artist I 10000% agree
He's being dishonest. It's in his mannerisms. He's fidgety with his hands and constantly looks away. That's the body language of a bad liar.
The Homo Demen 12:45 the eyes and mannerisms of someone lying.
I wanna see guitarists square it out at this year's NAMM
with epic riff battles HELL YES
Ive always found him obnoxious and stuck up, only ever liked his andertons vids
Same here. Always thought he was a shmuck.
Find the Anderton's vids puerile and uninformative.Abandoned them as a serious review source long ago.
Mark Ferguson nob
@@mannymaroupas In fact.
Anyone else noticed that Ernie Ball removed the NAMM Live video featuring him?
Rob's fanboys in the comments obviously didn't pay attention the whole vid. Rob lied about stuff, people expose the lies, fanboys then complain "you just want more views" ad nauseum.
Narfire bUt He PlAyS iN dOrJe!!!
RIff City Guitar in MN wasn't treated well it sounds like
The fanboys still think the issue is KDH’s video haha
@Mister Problematic dont reach that much dorje are a good band even if Rob isnt a Nice person
As one philosopher said once in a talk:
"Whenever someone tells something about you, you have to ask yourself: 'is it true?'. Then if it isn't, why am I getting offended or defensive about it? For example, you can clearly see I am bald. If someone comes to me and tells me that, what am I going to say? No? I am bald!"
Rob's response comes out strange, as many people already commented. When too many people are criticizing you with evidence to back it up, they might be right.
foucault?
because could be prejudicial on purpose. This is offensive. Truth no offends, slander yes.
Knowing how he treats people now my regard for him is in the negative.
a man who lives his life on social media is going to get criticism.
once you put something into the public then it is up for criticism.
Wear a swastika shirt for example, see how people treat you.
Something always rubbed me the wrong way about this guy. He always seemed egoic and even obnoxious when he's trying to be funny. Now I see how deceptive he is. It's all becoming clearer now.
I don't know what's going on because I don't particularly care but he always seemed that way to me.
True, I felt that way too. He thinks he's so much above everyone else
@@matrixmirage2148 Honestly. Narcissistic, would be the word I'd use.
He’s like the guitar Jeremy clarkson
@@thefamilydog6392 Hah, yes.
I think the fact that Anderton’s doesn’t even feature Chapman on the channel anymore speaks volumes.
I've noticed how Rabea has distanced himself from Rob alot lately too.
Except he has a signature model lol
@ThatBadGuy no ones arguing with that
If by distancing himself you mean selling clothing instead of music, sure.
Rabea appears to be a really nice and genuine person and often shows humility, something i've seldom seen in Chapman. Rabea obviously knows when to walk out of a room and keep quite when someone squats out a fresh one.
@ThatBadGuy Chappers has been an ass recently but he's a monster of a player, just like Rabea
Yep just seen this. I’m shocked as I used to really look up to him.
It's an important part of life, realising that your heroes are flawed. And that maybe some of them shouldn't be your heroes anymore...
Seriously, Who cares? A bunch of RUclips Ego’s going after each other.. why? Because they think someone on social media lied? This is stupid.
Bill Rich This.
When people are being threatened outside of RUclips for things on RUclips, that's when it matters.
Because they want clicks, and teenagers want drama. Everybody wins.
Only companies putting real money into these things and the hundreds of thousands of subscribers subbed to every party who may be being lied to
Clearly you care if you watched it and commented, oh and whats this? Seems i do too since im replying? Boy the world works in mysterious ways don't it.
Never liked rob , something about him is slimy
Jason and the robots the irony in him calling his pedals "snake oil" is absolutely incredible. He is pretty much a modern day snake oil merchant, pretends to be your friend to sell his shitty product and when you found out it's a worthless piece of shit he runs. Piece of shit guy, deserves no sympathy and I'm glad his career is going down the toilet.
Same.
Wise Guy buying into what?
He is the real life David Brent of guitar guys. Incredibly unlikeable
I think robs the kind of guy that if you lent him 200 quid your be having second thoughts afterwards knowing that you might not get it back.
Wow, High School Drama for High School guitarists . Guys get a life and play music and work on being more positive about your lives.
Piss off
Rob Chapman is a nobody in almost all of my music circles. Online trolling has destroyed comradory!
Being invited to walk in the footsteps of the greatest names in music (Carole King for example) in the ALS challenge, is a major honor, that C obviously thinks he is above.
This is objective, unbiased reporting. I wish more media was just this honest. Great job, Mike.
I'm not even in the guitar scene and idk why this got recommended to me
ah yes, the magic of youtube recommendations
Dude, it meant so much more than you know when you called it "the guitar scene", lol. Bunch'a middle aged rich kids inventing highschool drama over who has the brightest string tone or whatever the fuck. I used to watch this shit to learn, but more often than not, it's all bitchery and wankery, no real content. Now i watch to waste time and laugh at nerds. RUclips changes people, man. It's fucked.
You're one of us now. Buy a guitar
I'm in the "guitar scene" right now and I'm strongly considering to sell my guitar and get a bass to join the davie504 slappers army.
Too much useless drama in here.
@@ikhsanhasbi657 If i was a bass, i'd let you slap ( ͡°/// ͜ʖ/// ͡°).
Are you serious about selling your guitar?
It got me curious.
Im just gonna start rollerblading
Rob is a mediocre, boring guitarist that was a nerd in his youth, and now that he has some fame and popularity, it gives him that self serving recognition he never got, so its gone to his head and has given him a self imposed righteousness.
@@Kat_Haus PUNK ROCK PIZZA ROLLL
That is a good appraisal of Chappers.
Robs body language and eye movements in his response video are pretty telling.
He sounds like Prince Andrew talking about Epstein. No one actually talks that way.....
Exactly what I thought. When you look off to the left a lot, you're lying.
I saw the same things..smh.. What a putz...
Exactly what I was thinking, his mannerisms are very telling that he's nothing but a bullshitter.
Telling of what?
Chapman's hair used to be grey. Nuff said.
Well if your wife said it ....must be true.
Sure… let’s all take the word of your wife.
Damn this people really are stupid…
@@hellodumplings8564 sure, ignore everything else I said beyond that statement. And thanks for the stupid comment, you must know me really well.
Shutup Neil, no one cares what your wife thinks.
What in the little girl soap opera drama crap is this. 🤦🏼♂️
Chapman bashing dude, join in, is fun
Just look at that sheer power emanating from him.
Rob "The Duracell" Chapman.
You can also notice him shaking his head "No" when he's lying about something he said he DID do, for example "giving interviews all the time"
I think Rob has made the same mistake as games companies, trying to be buddy buddy while also being a business, the business will always win, but the business man rarely realizes this or rather rarely realizes the effect it has on the onlooker, because we're not stupid.
I think Rob's main problem is being an absolute tit...
Agreed .. he’s now making a lot of money out of Chapman guitars ... this is feeding his ego but also making him far more aggressive in his defence as he now has something valuable to protect
"either you're a retailer or a youtuber, you can't be both."
