Hi Kelan, Dan here. Thanks for coming by the booth and doing the vid. Hope you had a great NAMM 🤘
that was an excellent presentation Dan, it looks like the Chapman guitars are evolving in a good way.
@@octopaul Was about to say that, looks like Rob is turning around but thought it was just me
I met him Rob about 8 years ago at a workshop he did with Rabea. It was a lot of fun and he spent a long time building up the confidence of one or two younger guys that had been through rough patches. I know he got a bit lost in his own ego for a while but he's still done a lot of good. I hope his period of reflection is/was genuine and he prospers as a result and I think he'll be better off for the KDH criticism, in the long run.
“Lost in his own ego” is exactly right.
You brought the right microphone with you on your travels, the sound is good unlike other NAMM videos I've seen on RUclips. And Chapman is a weirdo, that'll never change, but you have to give him credit for being able to keep his composure in front of everyone. He deserves that recognition
Do you know what model he's using by any chance?
Zoom H5
@@KDH Here you go
Thanks!
Thank you!
Look Andertons, he's been redeemed! Let's see Rob back on the show
Those last few guitars look very periphery inspired. That ml1 and ml3 are the exact blue and orange misha has on his guitars it seems like and the storm burst is the closest thing I’ve seen to Holcomb burst.
I'm 60% English and 30% asleep. I have no idea of my nationality during that 30% and as for the remaining 7%, I struggle with mathematics.
Glad to see that he took it well
Me when I bump into someone I talked shit about online 😂😂😂 love this
Micheal star dude, no way !
That was a power move from both of you. Kudos, this is how you do things!
Agree, and +1 in the respect column for Rob especially. I gotta give him credit for starting a guitar company. A rough start, but that’s not all that uncommon, you’re trying to get raw materials and other hardware from the most fair distributors…. Going to have some bumps in the road.
mostly from rob's side tho
I remember Rob a long time ago when RUclips looked very different and he was sat in a tiny room surrounded by orange amps and he was very endearing. He's certainly had quite a journey
I hated his pretentious dreadlocks. Thank God he's gone bald roflmao
Yea man the 2011 2012 Chapman
His previous home in Wiltshire with his old wife and down to earth tutorials, miss those days
@@Dunkelzeitgeist That's when I found him. Those videos were so cozy
We need a Chapman redemption arc. I don’t believe he is a bad guy, just made some bad decisions
"KDH, help me take this mask off. Just for once, let me look on you... with my own eyes"
I agree with you. Unfortunately, he just doesn't know how to, not act like a goose when he's on camera.
Rob killed a man. There's no coming back from that
@@castleanthrax1833 I mean I think after years of putting something of a character on for the audience, I guess it does become habit to a point?
wrong. bad guy.
He's a good sport, we can't take him that. It's nice that people you criticised respect you. It means they know you are fair and do well researched content
Except Rob didn't take it well. Rob responded like a child at the time. He's since grown up a lot. Which we can all be thankful for.
@@Keshro Yeah, he took it really poorly initially which in so many ways backfired and just brought even more heat on him. If he responded well or just didnt respons at all It would have gone a lot better for him.
Thankfully though the response from the community seems to have been a bucket of cold water and chappers seems to be taking a more mature approach now, which is good to see.
KDH may be a critic but he’s not biased or a moron, well researched always and tries both sides for understanding
I feel it’s all show with chappers though, he appears to be a good sport
@@BorisBidjanSaberi11 Exactly. Some of us spend money we don't really have in an effort to achieve a certain sound, either live or recorded. There's lots of variables involved and for decades before the internet and then GooTube, we were, and still are in large part, subject to the whims of fads and alleged "industry standards". Having anyone with the balls to call out a grift in spite of the impending backlash, is as welcome attribute.
Let’s hear it for Dan for being open and knowledgeable…and for this to be his first interview…surely he meant for this year at NAMM, because he was great!
Wholesome.
I fully FULLY respect rob for being so straight up. Even though it’s in a sales setting obviously, he still gets the win here. He’s got some of my respect back.
And holy shit them chapmans look GOOD
No kidding
Rub Chupman is one of the bloggers
You know ..... its nice to see you with Rob, this what life should be about, overcoming difficulties, shaking hands, moving forward - bravo ❤
KDH is still a doushe. Forever. What a horrible human.
Dan the Salesman seems to be a very good hire for Rob. Finding quality talent in this day isn’t easy and I couldn’t fault Dan at all here.
I have to agree totally and without reservation. Dan did a superb job taking us through the 2023 product line and highlighting the most significant changes Chapman have made and are making. If I owned a guitar company I would want a Dan who can skillfully represent the company and sell guitars without coming across as if he's trying to sell guitars, all while making it look and feel nearly effortless and completely natural, like this one. Props to Dan for hitting the "interview" out of the park and to Chappers for hitting it out of the park by hiring Dan. This video made me love my older ML-3TRAD that I've owned for a couple of years or so since falling into my hands pre-owned at Guitar Center a little more somehow, which is a pretty cool trick from my perspective. Thanks Dan and Rob!
If Chapman and KDH can make peace then maybe there's hope for Russia and Ukraine. Just maybe.
Nah that ship has sailed.
@@XiyuYang More like, that bomb has dropped.
@@darksu6947😂😂😂 damnnnnnnn
@@darksu6947 Yo say sike right now because nobody wants that bomb to drop
You mean Russian and the western perpetrators of the war?
I appreciate them being good sports and you showcasing their upcoming products. Classy on both sides and I can certainly appreciate that.
Two things: 1. Well done Rob Chapman for welcoming KDH to his stand in this way. 2. Well done Chapman Guitars for such a cool looking range of guitars. And this is from someone who has never really taken to Rob's personality or liked Chapman guitars. I am impressed!
You're easily impressed then. What was Rob going to do? Yell and say sod off, while being videoed?
Yeah, have to agree with that.
Wow that was not as awkward as I expected turns out Rob is a good sport.
@@deaddoll1361 Sometimes "well done" simply entails acting like a normal decent blokes, which isn't a given these days.
@@deaddoll1361 can’t please everyone.
I used to watch Rob via Anderton’s and his own channel like many people. Then he started doing some things that were questionable and damaging, not only to his fans and customers, but was to himself and those around him. I didn’t totally stop watching like so many people who were mad, though, even when KDH showed us all the proof we needed. As an extremely fair reporter, it was KDH’s duty to inform - and he even tried to reach out to Rob for comment to give him a chance to respond and explain and undeservedly got some shit flung back at him just for doing his job. KDH would have done the same type of reporting no matter who it was, as a fair reporter. But anyway, I kept watching Rob’s channel because I was quietly rooting for Rob to overcome his worst enemy- himself.
Rob sorta dropped off sometime around the pandemic. He rarely posted anything for a long time. When he popped back onto RUclips regularly over a year ago, it was like he was a totally new person - still silly, fun old Rob who had matured a great deal and was just looking for a fresh start.
I’ve been watching every video since his regular posts resumed. He has a beautiful family and life in Malta. He was going on business trips like visiting Seymour Duncan in the US. He started performing again with his latest band. Above all, Rob seems to have somehow managed to bring Chapman into a really good place (along with his business partners) despite the unfortunate circumstances that have been reported with their factories and guitar builders. Everyone thought Chapman Guitars would flop after Rabea left - but NAMM has proven that they’re in the best place they’re ever been. They have new signature models with some legit bands and guitar players, refreshed lines, and brand new models. They have an amazing team and have been upstanding professionals in everything they’ve done recently.
We don’t know what may have been going on in Rob’s life and behind the scenes to lead him to make some crappy choices and behave in a less than fitting manner, but he was never a bad person - we all go through some stuff that sometimes makes us do irrational things, and once we go all in, it’s hard to come back on top. I don’t say going through personal and professional crap is an excuse for his behavior, but it might explain. KDH had to report the facts because that’s what he does here on RUclips, and maybe it gave Rob pause for thought when things weren’t going so well for him and helped him quietly turn things around for himself and his company. When I heard KDH was also going to NAMM, I knew both would shake hands and play nice . . . I had no doubt of it, in fact.
I’m speculating some of the above, but that’s my take based on what I’ve seen. I hope the guitar community will give Rob and Chapman Guitars another chance. I hope that Rob and KDH will turn this into something positive. Maybe Rob can formally apologize to some of the people he hurt online and in real life in his past - he doesn’t owe us explanations, but apologies go a long way. Maybe these two knuckleheads can even work together on some RUclips projects or have their bands do a few shows together. I would love that, actually.
💯
I agree with what I think you're hinting at. During some of the andertons videos you're talking about, there was some very noticeable signs, giant red flags if you've ever spent time around someone with that issue and jt was clearly impacting his work and life. I do wonder if that's why Andertons split off from him. But it seems like he's got on top of it and is enjoying life. All power to him.
@@robinr22 I “think” he went to Malta because his wife’s family is from there. Like I said, I’m purely speculating a lot of this from my vantage point. I wasn’t likely closely following him specifically until I found the Anderton’s channel in early 2020. I would imagine that his behavior may have affect his personal and professional relationships - or maybe not. Like I said, he owes us no explanations for whatever he went through. All I know is that I’m glad he seems to be in a much better place these days. It’s wonderful that he got past whatever happened, and hopefully he will continue on a good path and always do the right thing as best as possible from here on out. I have faith that he can do really great things! 👍🏻
Agreed. If you live long enough, you’ll find that there are periods of your own life that you aren’t proud of. I certainly have had those moments (periods of several years) where I wasn’t the person I would have liked to have been. Good on Chapman for taking it on the chin and trying to bounce back.
Thanks for dropping by Dude, let me know if you want to check out one of the guitars :-)
You're a class act, lad 👍
Rob is at his core just a dude who loves guitar, I'm sure on some level he appreciates your critique because it keeps him on his toes
Rob is at his core just a -dude who loves guitar- used car salesman. I'm sure on some level he -appreciates your critique because it keeps him on his toes- wishes you didn't exist.
@@ChrisP3000x thats it
@Gary Coates, I laughed out loud at your comment. Surely you don't believe that?
He’s a bad narcissist
Also means he knows what to improve.
Batman meets Joker, colorized. 😂😂😂
Goku meets Vegeta, colorized
Did you check if you still had your wallet? (just a joke!)
👀
Your audio audit on Rob obviously hit a nerve as it pointed out things that he thought were long brushed under the carpet. His massive ego at the time made him go straight on the offensive and he thought he could swipe you away into obscurity with his response video. The last thing he expected was pretty much the entire guitar community to turn on him. I’m sure that humbled him and he’s had time to reflect. Cool to see that there’s seems to be no real ill will between you. Still not a fan of Rob, always feel like he’s never far away from another controversial shady crowdfunder but fair play to the guy for not being an ass to you at NAMM.
Yes, I think they both come out of it all better with this - hopefully it'll calm things down in other quarters. I remember they used to say that Brown and Blair got on fine, it was the people working under them that really hated each other. I've seen it happen before.
Massive respect to KDH for consistently putting out content with big RUclipsr levels of quality as a relatively small RUclipsr.
Ehh.. there just petty drama videos. I mean for fuck sake one is literally about fake guitar strings like cmon.
They should just stop calling it NAMM. Just call it GYOSS. Guitar youtubers only sh**show.
No offense to you, of course. I enjoy your show very much.
Every flappin youtuber goes to namm and its a rehash x 1000.
BTW... did you run into Stevie T while there? That had potential for some good laughs.
bruh when Rob starts going on about guitar being all about love and happiness, KDH's face had me rolling 14:46
I feel like Rob is a genuine nice guy who at times just tends to make bad decisions in the worst time possible. He doesn't seem like he's mean, I feel like he just acts before he thinks. Wow, sounds a lot like me😅
Yeah, people with Chapman surname seem to have this issue. I've met a man with Chapman surname, who kinda looked like Rob, and projects similar aura as him. Like coming in strong and acting like he's the top man. 😂
I honestly think the same. So many people are painting him as a monster just to get some drama out there :/
Chapman is now working with Guitarmory/Cerberus guitars. I’m friends with the owner and he is one of the best people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. His customer service is second to none. So, when they announced that they’re working with Chapman, I assumed things have improved for Chapman.
KDHs previous Chapman video regarded Chapman was shopping for a new builder and factory, guess it happened eh
I wonder how long that relationship will last.
He’s not just working with them he’s a co-owner
Guitarmory????? I love their pickups!!
@@Erisblackstone same. They have incredible products and service!
Being honest, their new stuff actually has a few models I'd buy. Hope to see them right this ship.
That superlight Les Paul with the thin body might actually get my money over Gibson at this point.
Rob looks like he's just having a good time and you look uncomfortable as heck.
Uncomfortable with having to deal with the prick up close.
@@deaddoll1361 even literally with his prick up close 😜
Met chapman once at a service station on the M6. Before i knew it id given him my wallet, car, phone and keys to my bedside and felt good about it. Im destitute now but his qirky madcap guitarprenure persona made it all worthwhile.
Lol. Gotta love it when a company at an unveiling says things like, “it’ll look like this but we’re gonna do some other things to it”, “it might come in this color or even some other colors”, “it only comes in 7 string, but we may make it in other versions, depending on the public” and finally, “it might come in purple, we are working with color pallets now and hopefully those will be on our website in the summer”.
As a small business owner this is the prototypical failure of a business. Show up at the trade show, which is to generate pre orders on your product, and don’t have the finished item and specs available. Also, saying it’s going to be made in multiple countries as long as we get comparable quality in manufacturing. Doesn’t give a large box store (Thomann, Sweetwater, Guitar Center, etc) much confidence in preordering or purchasing your products. No bueno man, no bueno.
Highest on-screen sexual tension since Brokeback Mountain
Imagine off screen, Chapman yanking his hair back while he enters him roughly from behind with his little choad
This community has some of the funniest looking people I’ve ever seen 💀
Bro what do you expect? Handsome athletic men do not listen to abrasive guttural distorted music and headbang along to the tempo in a sweaty mosh pit
Chapman is undoubtedly a bit of a d***head but I don't think he really deserved the demolition job KDH did on him. But fair play to both for being respectful in what could have been an awkward encounter.
Was never a particular fan of Rob... but this gets my respect. Well done to both for completing the story.
Kudos to the sales rep he had been very proactive to show KDH all models
Let me take this time to say, maybe I took it too hard on old Chapman. Businesses have set backs in the beginning, fair enough. Gotta give him credit for trying to get a company going on.
Man Rob was going so well and then he had to drop the weird flex about being followed by a lot of women. You were so close to interacting like a well adjusted human being!
Cool of Rob…he’s just a guy trying to make a living like the rest of us. I really like that purple chapman guitar. Chapman has some really cool stuff coming out. I love the Steel Panther one and the Danish Pete one.
KDH needs a Chapman signature guitar. That’s the next evolution of this, lol. It would be awesome.
Did you wash yourself afterwards?
KDH meets Chappers, what a time to be alive. We live in a simulation, that‘s a fact now.
"Guitar is about love and happiness and spreading peace". Is it?
You do very fair and honest critiques so for anyone to get mad at you for them would only make them look like a jerk. It’s good that Rob can take it in stride.
Rob is right we need to stick together as Guitarist , Creators , and builders, Chapman guitars , Solar Guitars , and now Badlands Guitar Company shows you can do it just have to work hard for it
Well that's 15 minutes of my life I won't get back, just looking at CrapMan guitars... 🤷♂️
Chapman exposed himself more than anyone else could have. He bought into his Internet hype. Hype which died quite some time ago.
what else would he do, tell you to F off. hes in public showcasing his guitar brand
Finally made the merch happen
I'm not a big fan of in-fighting in the guitar community, we’re small enough as it is! Having said that I thought KDH’s videos on Rob and Chapman guitars were fair for the time. Good to see Rob doesn’t hold grudges and lets bygones be bygones, and is prepared to move on. Good stuff!
So when is the KDH signature chapman guitar coming out?
It's a power move. If you can't fight against it, go with it and take ownership to defuse you a little. Shoulda stinkpalmed him.
Just goes to show that these youtubers will say and do anything for views. Talk smack one day... kiss a$$ the next.
Unsubb'd
A more iconic duo than Mario and Luigi
wow, i have NO idea how chapman poached Chris Robertson from PRS :O no disrespect, PRS are huge and Paul is so known as a nice guy. Unless Chris stayed at PRS as well?
Even that guitar sales guy was suspicious but then realised you're not on a mood to reveal their lies. Bet that story about Peter designing guitar is not true. Chapman acting like nothing happened but does not bother to explain his acts in the past... What a joke.
Of course the story about Pete will be true. Don’t forget that Lee Anderton is a major investor in Chapman Guitars, and Lee & Pete are pretty much joined at the hip these days, so Pete working with the brand is fairly inevitable
I know and they all were in that Chapman snake oil scam together. You can se Peter on the video when this guy makes up this story about Peter helping designin guitars. Of course he runs away quickly. If Peter would have designed his own signature guitar if would definitely be purple. They just made up this story and were even too lazy to paint it purple.
Rob seems like a pretty cool Cat
Be interesting to see the next set of Chapman accounts. Their sales figures have not looked good for quite some time, and with Rabea and Scallon leaving...
Easy enough to find from Companies House. Last few years look fairly healthy to my untrained eye.
I can’t believe people say designing a guitar. Everything there was already designed by Fender and others.
TBH I have no use for a company that is just contracting with others to manufacture their products….Chapman Guitars is just a marketing company. I will never pickup one of their guitars.
Well, no questions about his behavier in the past, No coming clean, no nothing. This kind of makes it look like you just took a Chapman backride to get your numbers up. And I mean that regardless of your findings being correct or not. To be frank, makes you look like you’re pretty much the same type of guy. Without a guitar brand though. Not that that matters. Very weird. Enjoy your cudos.
Definitely like that they're expanding their line... I like some of their prototypes from what was shown... Curious how the India products will be vs the Indonesian builds...
🔥🎸🔥
This is the sizest thing ever!
The only reason why Rob Chapman makes peace with someone was because he had to. Not to piss on anyone's parade, but the Fallout from that whole situation was Unreal. And he was pretty much forced into it. Not to take anything away from his downfall because it was well-deserved!
This is such a load of crap. Rob Chapman is everything everyone always thought he was, he just also happens to be a smart marketer. He knows how damaging the blowback was and is trying to minimise the damage. Let’s not forget he had his dodgy fans threaten and slander KDH and everyone else who outed him
Not impressed. Nothing original about what chapman is doing, just rehashed stuff other companies did with a candy coat paint job over cheap wood. Did they steal that one finish from Daisy Rock?
I'm surprised that nothing happened to you at the booth. And Chapman's message at the end was very inspirational.
Dont ever get fooled by a person acting friendly. He is just intelligent enough to understand he needs to surpress his emotions in order for his immoral actions to bring benefits and just dumb enough to believe he can get away with it in a long run.
I was there on Friday and I got to meet Rob. I’d been at the booth for a while, and he came up to me, shook my hand, and said “should’ve done this sooner how are you?”. I was thinking “maybe he’s not that bad,” but then he proceeded to interrupt the conversation I was having with someone else at the booth. I ended up asking about a pickup configuration, and I got this vibe that he just didn’t wanna answer any questions about it. He then interrupted the guy I was talking to like three times to make sex jokes, and I ended up just walking away
Edit: Rob responded to this comment apologizing, so if he sees this again, I wanna say thank you for being sincere and apologizing. I had a part about another bad experience with someone, but deleted it as I felt it was a bit dickish
Lol, good call.
lmao XD
Wats he doing at namm?
don't even know who the hell Corey Feldman is and don't care ... but for sure you can feel that this mr Chapman is not the "nice guy" he wants desperately everyone think he is ... nope ...
Dude, I’m sorry, to be honest, I was probably drunk - Thursday night was pretty insane, please accept my apologies if you felt I wasn’t listening 100% - it is difficult being surrounded by people all day, but I always try and give my attention when possible.
That's how the world runs. People killing each others for fanatism, and the culprits are chilling togheter.
I reckon Chappers still thinks KDH is a nob. Something in the body language.
What's the deal with the fraternity shit at the end? I mean I don't totally disagree with him but saying something like that is just gonna kick up more drama and more shit for him. I think your face at that point perhaps indicates a similar sentiment...
Chicks would kill for that KDH hair. Forget the merch, do a Head & Shoulders ad instead 🤣
Did you hear “his truth” and feel his “online power”?
Would you say Rob is now your best friend?
His face said it all.
Rob Chapman is the most famous Guitar player on RUclips that I follow and he is one of the few who have answered multiple questions that I directed towards him in comments and when he was touring in the States he would stay until everyone in line was able to get a pic and say hello and wasn’t rushing anyone. This was at the height of his success and when he was displaying some arrogance online, point being he has always appreciated his fans and even at his worst he was always humble and grateful for his fans and that shows more class than most people would.
To expect him to be flawless is to hold him to unreasonable standards that none of us could live up to.
Rob is a great guy and I am happy KDH also could come to his booth and give a fair and honest reaction and not use it as an opportunity to knit pick and criticize everything. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2 develop a genuine friendship.
If Rob could win over KDH as an ally and a possible advocate it would reflect good on them both and show that KDH isn’t just a hater looking to destroy another man’s reputation and success.
Thank you Steven Wilson's nephew.
Why the heck did I watch this, I'm not even remotely interested in Chapman guitars?!
I met him a couple of months ago at the Birmingham Guitar Show. He’s a really sound guy and was more than happy to stand and chat for a while
My first experience with Chappers was at Brimingham. Greeted me like an old friend and chatted Guitars for 10 mins before I went back to the Grainger booth to do some demos
Chapman is starting to look vintage himself 😂
14:12 what's the name of that guitarist? I've searched but don't know how to spell his name.
Who’s the Japanese guitarist rob is talking about? Thankyou in advance
We still want that boxing match though. You can put on a guitar RUclipsr boxing event and get all of them in on it.
Interesting on the India move. Jackson moved production to India for a little bit, and I mean just for a little bit, because QC was absolutely terrible. Hopefully they’ve gotten things sorted and can put out solid instruments.
Desi guitars… yuuuck…. beside all the cutting corners they do on every aspect of their lives, now they will add their curry fart stains to guitars
Desi is what Indians call themselves btw
nah, its terrible. these are our new cheapest friend who we can trust that dont hate us like the last 2.
Lets all exploit india yay!

This might be the most ambitious crossover event of all time!
You buy and play them... I WON'T.
The guy is a con-man in my opinion.
Very cool that you two can keep it professional and friendly. Keep up the good work KDH 🤘🏻
Fair play to him. Rob is a really nice guy. Obviously the controversy a few years ago didn't show himself in a good light, but I always thought he was a decent guy.
You are far too quick to forgive complete assholes.
Better than Kiesel.
Good job interviewing/being on the show floor - I've shot some coverage of some local conventions, and initially planned to interview people and such, but basically got too nervous to do so in the moment. I could see it being easier at Namm, but also more intimidating still.
You and Rob put past differences aside and started anew. You both set a good example for all of us in how to treat each other. Much respect to both of you!
