- Fluff made a bit of a mistake here. But there is a happy ending to this story and that deserves to be noted + I think it serves as a good reminder to audiences to not get involved. :)

Fluff: Here is my clean tone: AC/DC tone
You still haven't heard Rabea's clean tone XD
@@kainagami Rabea can actually get a clean tone, he just goes about getting it in different ways...
Seriously. His taste in tone is god awful lmao. Can't stand the guy honestly.
@@richardharrold9736 maybe. I haven't watched a lot of his video but one in particular I will never forget, the demo of the Boss SY-1, when I heard him saying:"this is my clean tone" and then hearing the tone I was like, wtf? This crunchy AF.
I think that a clean tone should be something crystal clear waaaaay far from getting any type of grit in the sound, but as we say: "de gustibus", it's just a matter of taste I guess
@@kainagami Hmmn. I checked out that SY-1 demo and I didn't hear him claiming that he was using a clean tone.
Coming from someone who has been on both sides of it, I think your message is really important. I still get death threats (regarding the 'fake guitar' stuff that happened back in 2019) from fans of certain artists even though those artists and myself are much closer friends now than we ever had been before all that went down. Also seeing how easy it is to (subtly or blatantly) lead fans in whichever direction you want them to go, there needs to be a level of responsibility and understanding from creators. It could literally be the difference of life and death. It's very easy to join into the emotional mob, and when creators know this and use it for financial or personal gain, it can be very scary.
At least you use critical thinking. And see both sides, your not close minded.so cheers. Keep your mind open
Nicely presented KDH and nicely handled by Fluff in the end. Jared. As one of the Dons of the community, it’s cool you thought, drew the parallels and posted that comment. The challenge of modern platforms providing mass interaction is that humour or flame pieces or even mistakes can go sideways quickly. In a club, you do comedy and if it goes flat you get heckled or ignored. You go to work, make a mistake and probably get called on it to re-assess. Sadly online pile-ons can and do happen with unpleasant consequences.
Annniiiis back!!
ANNNIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
I'm happy to see you be so up-front and honest about the whole thing, I have to admit I had a bit of a discoloured look towards you especially after your accusations towards Lucas Mann in particular, but that was a very knee jerk reaction that honestly didn't last very long. I'm happy to see now that you've learned from it all and that you're aware of the mistake that can be made by talking openly about certain topics with a large fanbase surrounding you.
Keep up the good work man. \m/
@@EmptyTenementSpirit Jared's not a dummy. He sees what's what.even after that shpiel went down, he can see how what kdh said kinda applied to both situations. More ppl like kdh need to exist in all bases on youtube in a well spoken, thoughtfil, unbiased, critical respected forms of thought and video on the bullshit that has happened in the internet era. What wasn't a big deal, got tuned into a big deal by the internet folks as always, and showed the true power in influencing ppl one way or another.and as Jared said it's scary cuz it ends ppl.it ruins faces and careers.burns bridges.its a fine ass line between building it all up and having it all crash in few hours of time. It can also be for the good.and in some cases like here, 2 ppl actually apologised to each other, although it took another grown man to step in like an adult to make it happen, and its weird.he totally simmered the sutuation.if he was someone else, and had good intention but came across the wrong way..it could've been like throwing a tractor tire into a bonfire...(which I've done)... and made shit worse.again ...the power of the internet.its crazy
"We're all self-appointed on this platform." Absolutely beautiful insight. And I'm happy the entire thing was eventually resolved maturely. Sometimes shit gets out of hand and the high from internet drama is very real.
I love seeing a lot of guitar RUclipsrs in these comments. Shows that the community does want to improve things
Yes there is a lot of self indulgence going on with peoples own personal biases towards gear, music, and generally the entirety of the art of guitar. Yes people make mistakes and we are accountable, including the “AUDIENCE”. So we need to all think about that. Otherwise we are all going to be just like the assholes on the hill.
Yep. It’s amusing to watch the evolution of morality amongst guitarists on RUclips. What was once an immediate bludgeon is now seen as an act of immorality. Back in the day when I had a channel and was just starting to gain traction, I got the pleasure of being targeted. It destroyed my channel, and it ended there. No one cared. It is what it is, but I’m sure I wasn’t alone. I’m glad things are turning around.
Sending death threats is just as immoral as joining the military
RadBrad Music Artist let me guess..... basic training washout?
KDH is spreading ethical practices in the guitar RUclips community and it's really refreshing to see. As a fellow Irishman I applaud what you do!

I think Fluff was confused. The Gibson version did start in 2003. The Epiphone one was 2007.
Yeah, he should have done a little research rather than rely on memory. I think he really screwed the pooch and then just refused to admit he was wrong. Childish.
@@Jmdeclue That's because arrogance and ignorance go hand in hand.
Yup! Shit even on the video from I’m feeling this his using the signature guitar.
But using his professional platform to publicly calling out a private seller - in confusion? No ethics, no standards, no empathy, no self control. How low can you go?
if he knew blink 182 he would know that tom was using a 335 on the down low before his deal with fender was up. tom used a 335 on boxcar racer and that led to him asking gibson to make him one customized for him, which i am fairly certain ended up on the self titled blink 182 album
I rather enjoy KDH's pronunciation of "Fløúf."
I am physically incapable of typing that
Ha. Alt+0248 & alt+0250.
Fløúf. I think i did it
*laughs in android* Fløúf
Fløúf
"Fluff" said clearly and unambiguously that the listing was bogus. This created the situation where the seller was harassed by "Fluff's" fanboys. Instead of knocking down the harassment, Fluff then endorsed it.. He 100% owed the seller an apology, and the seller was _FAR_ more reserved in answering the accusations in his ad update than I would have been. The seller did _not_ owe Fluff an apology. Fluff was lucky he wasn't hit with a defamation lawsuit.
Here's a funny tidbit... I watched one of the episodes where he criticized some one for charging $75 for shipping and he said something along the lines of "For $75 shipping, it better be 2-day delivery or less"...
Now, I bought the Relish Mary One from his videos. Purchased it on Reverb from him and it arrived well packed and in great condition, BUUUUUT... He charged me $70 shipping and it took a week or so to get to me. Love the guitar, but if you're going to criticize someone for expensive/slow shipping, you gotta practice what you preach!
Ha! Love it
I can't help but think you could probably do a version of this video once a month until the heat death of the universe and not a single lesson would be learned.
Sad but probably true.
The worst part about your statement is it's horrific honesty.
The sharks will just move on to the next target.
I was thinking similarly...but then I went through the logistics. I've been collecting gear and practicing guitar my whole life, and put all my energy into making music. Songs, albums, collabs...some good; some not so good...but in either quality I see very little appreciation. So, being a youtube morality policeman for musicians may serve the greater good. ...Unfortunately; I still want my main message for humanity to be at least musical, and more optimally, an artistic message.

The thing that gets me is Fluff’s smugness in the video. I’ve been watching his channel for years & in that time I’ve watched him get more & more douchey. Dude needs to humble it up a bit, pride before the fall & all that.
Edit: you’re absolutely right KDH, harassing people is not cool. Just don’t do it.
I totally agree with you, I used to love watching his FAQ videos in the morning with a cup of coffee, I can’t stand listening to his voice since he’s become such an asshat.
Somehow in the last couple years Ryan has become the self appointed God to Gear with mediocre playing skill.
Rate My Rig really shows off his douchey side.
He brags about he is a "______ artist" (insert music man/Dunlop or whatever) like he tries to remind us he is important. It gets annoying. "Look at my one of a kind music man guitars I have connections i can call them up and have them build me whatever haha I'm special"
It gets so annoying. He is so douchey and he needs to revisit a humble path again.
YES that's what it is, I've always described him as pompous. Smug, that's exactly what he comes across as. Like he'd shit on any question you have as though you should already know.
Wasn't that the reason he changed his channel name?
Almost Rob Chapman levels except he's a shit musician with a shit band who got big based on connections and social media.
Dude, the video for Blink 182's "Feeling this" was released in 2003. You can see the guitar there, so it was undeniably produced in 2003.
Saw it it's true!! Eagle eyes Kimi!!

Undeniably the guitar was produced for Tom in 2003 but I don’t think Gibson did a production run of this guitar until a few years later. Maybe that’s where the confusion is coming from?

He released a video today in which he talks about 'angry reverb sellers' as a result of his videos. Knowing, now, that you've been in contact with him about this, it's a little disappointing that he didn't take 10sec in the new video to say something like "turns out I was more than likely wrong about this listing, I've spoken to the seller, please don't spam them." Especially so considering the comments he made about the status update not getting enough eyes to be really effective.

@@12ealDealOfficial I think it was the least he could do and not just more than his share. The fact he's still saying it's a prototype when it's crystal clear the production started in 2003 really says it all. Childish, egocentric, self righteous. I watched many of that guys video over the years and never subscribed. For a reason. Or many.

Baffles me that people who sell guitars with (or approaching) 5 figure price tags have the audacity to add a shipping cost. I just spent £15,000 on a guitar, the least you could do is ship it to me for free.
Death to all marxists I don’t mean if you’re buying it from a store because that’s obviously the retail price so yeah you pay the shipping, that’s business and they gotta make money. I mean like that guy selling the Dave Mustaine guitars for like 5x the price he bought them for. If you’re already making £10,000 profit charging shipping is just a dick move.
You're so right about being respectful on here. I think over time we've lost sight of how things used to be before the internet. Its like the wild west where people seem to forget that when you respond to a comment there is a real live person at the other end with feelings. Another cool video with a great message! Fantastic stuff 👍🏻👍🏻
Before I watch the video I wanna guess one thing that's in it: Fluff actively sending hate from his comments into Reverb messages.
EDIT: I was 100% on the money
he definitely had this guitar in 2003, i saw them then, and a few shows after and countless videos show that he does actually play his sig gibson during the self titled era
Tom's literally playing one in the music video to Feeling This, which came out in 2003. I wish someone could have pointed that out to Fluff right away. That smug idiot just knew he was right, would have been glorious to see his reaction getting proved wrong right from the get-go.
I had my disappointments with Fluff and ultimately skipped him a couple of years ago. I fell into the trap of getting some of the total crap he promoted, worst of all his then signature pickups that were so amazing that he would never remove them his guitar! Well, literally they were far worse than even the stock pickups in a $300 Ibanez. Soggy, boomy and the low B string hardly 50% output of the other strings. I couldn't return them. But the final blow came when he was complaining about something in his DAW, and I mentioned that he wouldn't have such problems in Reaper. He replied with an angry, demeaning comment about Reaper being a barely functional piece of crap way below his standards. I guess I could have returned with evidence of some of the heavy weight professionals coming from other DAW's and never looking back, but this wasn't even the first time something like this happened, and the way he was talking to me for absolutely no reason at all, just turned me off enough that I never watched a video of his again. Honestly, why would I? He is obviously not credible in anything he says about gear, he just creates drama when it's not about pushing gear, downright demeaning if it's about gear he is not endorsed by, and he's a rather mediocre player and demo'er anyway.
This is my personal opinion and I never said this anywhere else, I just thought it was a good opportunity, especially seeing how hard of a time he had to apologize the nonsense drama he stirred up himself with his "Dunning-Kruger" level wits!
I am on Linux, and use the FOSS Ardour DAW, and all FOSS plugins, and there is no sound quality advantage to any of DAW, and almost every single hardware interface out there uses the exact same sound conversion and processing chips! There's just way too much hype, because no amount of capable gear can make up for your hearing and understanding in musical and audio terms of how to get sounds, mix and what not. You could use any DAW and get the very same sound and mix as any other, with only a few differences in how you got there, making what you hear the most important, so good speakers, and their placement, good headphones, and proper room treatment for both where you record and where you mix.
I like Glenn Fricker (SMG) for that reason, he concentrates more on techniques than gear alone, without being a snob, and instead of selling people a superiority complex, tries to fit your budget without putting people down; Well not the ones who don't deserve it, and for the ones that do, it's a blast, but nor vengeful! (

Very well said. Yes that was an incredibly important message. Reminds me of that whole Rob Chapman thing and how severely it hurt all parties involved. And the Jared Dines thing. Sometimes as viewers, especially during a global pandemic, when everybody is bored and looking for drama (Why I’ve stayed off my channel for this past year) we go above and beyond in the WORST ways for the channels we watch and the RUclips’s we enjoy. And sometimes we speak before we think. Which is generally a bad idea in almost all area’s of life. But on the internet, it’s way too easy to hide behind our screens. I’ve been the victim of online bullying and harassment. Many times over. Often due to lack of information regarding whatever the situation was at the time. So again, this was a VERY important message. And I hope it gets to the right people. We need to be better to each other. It’s a sensitive and scary time. Thinking about your own actions and not going out of your way to hurt or damage someone, or their reputation for the hell of it, Is a good way to simply just be decent. And apply that to everyday life.
Love your videos man.

As someone who had his channel destroyed by the type of tactic, it’s good to see the community turn around. For me, it just wasn’t worth trying to revive it and live life. I don’t think people who have never experienced it, know just how horrible 30,000 threats a day can make your life.
Never back down. Never give in.
@@Rose.Of.Hizaki For me it wasn’t a matter of backing down or giving in really. It was the prevailing recommendation from my lawyers at the time to take a hiatus from content creation. The risk to reward ratio was too heavily skewed in the danger department as some of the doxing and threats where fairly serious. I also held a top secret security clearance at the time within the US government and it was putting my occupation at risk.
People with significant following, don’t really understand that there are people out there completely out of touch with reality. They are called to extreme actions that most of us wouldn’t even consider. If a person has a million followers, chances are good that thousands of them are willing to hunt down and do terrible things to someone.

I find it funny that the guy in the video said "This guitar came out in 2006- at the earliest". Fluff is one of many guitar youtubers who make money by advertising products sent to them for free by manufacturers.
His opinion on gear can't be trusted, as it is blatant advertisement.
True that, but opinion on gear is just an opinion after all,and even unhindered opinion can sometimes clash with what you feel about certain piece of gear. KDH made an excellent video on why gear demos should be taken with a grain of salt. I personally watch fluff because a lot of his reviews has a tutorial feel (tips and tricks) that are not just tied to that piece of gear he's advertising.
I agree, but that doesn't mean all paid promotion is dishonest. Some of the youtubers who regularly get paid to do gear demos actually demo the damn things. Fluff on the other hand... the dude has so much post processing that you usually can't tell what the piece of gear is even doing.

I thought you were going to bring to light that he used to shill Panama Guitar amps/products without ever disclosing that he worked for them. I haven't watched his channel for years... is he still not disclosing paid ads guised as "reviews?" Him and Trey from GearGods are the least transparent guitar RUclipsrs. I've left comments on their channels simply asking if the video is sponsored or if the product was given to them for free because I deserve to know, and all they do is delete my comments.
It's good he ended up apologizing in this instance, though!
Being not transparent is a thing many many youtubers have in common...
Dude, that is ALL his channel ever did!
fluff's troll base must not even shop at reverb, or they might realize postings can be configured to automatically reject lowball offers.
Love your work mate
I've been watching Fluff for years and his overall attitude has definitely changed in the last year. It's been a crap year and people deal with tough times in different ways. I just wish people's mistakes weren't exacerbated by legions of Stans attacking eachother so often. These parasocial relationships have to stop.
I had to stop watching his videos before Way before Covid, his head was getting way to big for his beard.
After your comment I’d really be afraid to see how much he’s changed.
@@anthonymarshall2653 Same here. I started noticing his decline shortly after his divorce. Couldn't imagine him getting that much worse in the last year compared to how he was when I stopped watching.
Fluff has always been toxic.
@@flips220 I'll defend his early stuff when he did tutorials and things. He used to have a grounded, blue-collar approach to his content and didn't engage in any kind of drama or harassment. I think what happened to him happens to most normal people who start doing RUclips stuff full-time. It's sad, I think.
@@12ealDealOfficial Bingo. A lot of these people lose sight of who they were it seems. Chapman came across as a likable guy when his channel first started.
Very well thought out video about the dangers of internet culture. I love the insight and it's refreshing to hear from someone who doesn't want people to participate in mob mentality. Great work dude.
Fluff looks like the cowardly lion. He is always name dropping. So annoying, I can never watch a full video.
He started off a pretty concise channel with helpful vids, but then the money started rolling in and his attitude became more whiny and, really, kinda lazy. I bear no ill will towards the man whatsoever, but I wish he'd man back up and become more like his old self when he was a mechanic. Now he's like every other "catty youtube guitar person." And he does the thing where he says things like so, maybe, just, like, kinda, and "you know what I mean" every other sentence- a personal gripe I haven't been able to switch off when I noticed certain people doing it all the time.
@@12ealDealOfficial he's gay
I could never stand him. Every video of his gives me multiple reasons not to subscribe to his channel.
@@behindthen0thing You fooled me and made me look that up real quick, but I think it's more a west coast thing. Then there's what happens to people when they start doing RUclips as a career- they start seeming hollow and whiny. The last time I watched Dines, he was the same way.
He loves to remind us he knows people in the industry. Its cringe.
He's the Rob Chapman of neckbeard drop tuning, even down to the feigned shock that his followers would go stir up shit. *laughs in ONLINE POWER*
