    If you can't find an A640 battery you can also use two normal button batteries, they work as well.

    Great Video. I recently picked one of these cameras up for a project but I had no instructions. I had no idea that there was a battery compartment at the front.

    Thanks for this video. I never knew about this model. I think this is the best camera whose who are interested in 8mm filming. motor drive is always better than spring winding. It has all standard options.

    I recently bought a Canon Cine Canonet 8 double 8mm movie camera. Do you think one of you guys could do a video on it by any chance?

    Thanks for a GREAT demonstration of this cool little camera! Your videos are always educational and entertaining and i am a happy subscriber.
    I found one of these Canon Motor Zoom cameras at a local thrift store yesterday, complete with case, cleaning cloth, lens hood AND the battery tester! The camera is in like new condition and runs great except for the light meter which had a badly corroded battery. Ive cleaned up the compartment and ordered a replacement battery.
    I WILL be visiting your online store and purchasing a film bundle for a research project I've been planning for many years. Basically my goal is to "reverse engineer" the famous Zapruder film of the JFK assassination and get it back on 8mm...
    Thanks again for your amazing videos. Keep up the good work!

    I actually have a Canon Motor zoom 8 EEE and the shutter trigger is jammed, do you know what might be causing this?

      Camera shutter seized (broken) - Cheapest option is to source a replacement on ebay.

    What battery did you use in place of a RM-640?

    • @FilmPhotographyProject
      @FilmPhotographyProject  2 года назад +1

      www.batterymart.com - I found a replacement. Don't think the original was called RM640. - Mike

      @@geophizz I understand that, vintage cameras. Funny now they are 58 years old, I never new about this vintage format until 2 months ago. Ive bought a couple Bolex and this canon camera to try shooting regular 8 you can still purchase. Currently have Fomapan partially shot now.

    1:45 You said that you'll explain what rewind knob is for but you didn't actually explain.

      @rulebritannia1700 4 года назад +1

      Doh! You're right! That winding knob is used to rewind the film to create dissolves and/or double exposures. Similar to how a 16mm Bolex does.
