So glad you made this video and that it’s doing well for you. Can you make a video explaining how to get the field as well as really high-quality video out of the DJI?
I rarely subscribe on the back of a single video, but this is great. I've recently got myself a Pocket 3 and trying to get over my own stage fright at the moment -- it's a real sticking point. Like, all the gear, all the skills, but no capacity to talk to the camera!
Thank you so much! I was the same last year with the stage fright. Forced myself to do a 30 day posting challenge on Instagram which was so daunting at first. The thought of school friends etc seeing it but I haven’t looked back since! I highly recommend doing a challenge like that. Even if you don’t post the videos, by the 30th video you’ll be a natural 🙌
great ideas, thank you...please could you be more specific in the first 3 items so many choices for example in cold shoe mount, I cannot find the same one you are holding
Great video and a good list. Didn’t think about how to attach the phone and now I need to order that magnetic mount. A great tiny tripod that I use for those drone type shots and also able to have a tripod while traveling is the ULANZI MT-54 tripod but I also just got the ULANZI MT-79 tripod which has the tilting head. The only thing about the 79 is if you put anything too heavy it will drop down because the extension poles in it are just held by tension and there’s no way to lock them like the 54. I learned this by using two of the 79’s for lights and then just kept slowly sinking into itself. Even though the ad shows it having a light on it.
Also, forgot to say if anyone is looking for ND filters and can't find any of the DJI ones. I use the K&F Concept 4 Pack. I've used them in bright sunlight and haven't had any issues with any of them.
I have both the Osmo 3 and Insta 360 X4. Something has been holding me back. This video likely will be a game changer for upping my confidence levels in getting the right shots with good control. Many Thanks for sharing this great advice

One remark, ND filters impact exposure time, not aperture. These cameras have fixed aperture. Filters are used to achieve 180° rule and get nice motion blur not depth of field.
That’s the same understanding i have about ND filters as well. Not sure why he mentioned shallow depth of field as the camera has a fixed aperture and fixed depth of field
your kool idea about attaching the phone via a MagSafe + the ND filters has solved a (weight and money) problem Ive been struggling with - as Im filming in Nepal for 2 months and didn't want to buy take the nice but expensive and heavy freewell filters that attach to the iPhone (that also make my insta 360 gimbal inoperable). cheers Callam. Sub deserved 100%
The phone mount is very clever. I wonder if there is a way to use this with a cheese plate or similar so you could have that phone (offset) and still have access to use a tripod (which is something I frequently do).
Great question. I actually have a cage for the pocket now. Which adds a quarter inch thread to the back of the Osmo as opposed to the bottom which makes this a lot easier!
Brilliant tips and ideas, I like the phone mount the best since like you said hard to frame up the shot with the small screen will be trying that one for sure!
Great content, you should look in to using a cloud lifter for your mic or look into investing in the road, protester too to get rid of the hissing sound on your vocals
Thanks for sharing some unique ideas. You are demonstrably a very creative creator. My favorite tip was the 'flying' shot with the monitor/cell phone connected to the pole, but you sealed your capacity for imagination with the tracking shot on the kid's trike. Great ideas! Thanks! 📸🌞

Fantastic idea, I have a brand new Pocket 3 I couldn't see a damn thing on the viewfinder at the beach. My question is the magnetic mount says on Amazon its for a IPhone i have a Samsung; whats the resolution if any? Thank you so much!😊
It's tiny right. Did you manage to sort it? The magnetic mount is optional. A normal phone mount is fine, it just needs to have the 1/4 inch thread to mount to the monitor mount.
I don’t know much about the action 5 to be honest. Would be an interesting video though. Main reason I bought the Osmo is because I hate gimbals as they take too long to set up. Now I have a pocket sized one!
What's your real life experience for battery life? Especially rolling the shot for 2-3h straight - is there any overheating noticable? Thanks in advance for the great video. Cheers
I got the creator combo where you get a second battery which extends the setup so the battery lasts a while and charges suuuuuper quick! no overheating yet!
Did you film your RUclips video with the Pocket 3, or are you using a different camera for this upload? I ask because I want to start making youtube content with my Pocket 3, and my goal is to have the quality come out just like the video I am watching "yours". Amazing content!👏🏾

I recommend setting to manual exposure unless you're in an unpredictable scene ( like going indoors and outdoors constantly). I feel like it is usually best to manually dial settings into any camera. I'll be making a video on the best Osmo settings soon :)

Hi, thx for the video. There are some great ideas there. However, the depth of field part, does the osmo pocket 2 have a fix aperture? If so then the depth of field will not change even with filters, this only works with a aperture that moves and that is only on a lens such as dslr lenses that you may see like f/2 to f/22 for example, then a filter will help maintain an f/2 to keep the background blurry. This won't happen on a fixed aperture lens. All you will change with a filter on a fixed aperture lens on the osmo is the shutter speed and iso.
That’s a brilliant idea and very well presented! Idecided not to get the pocket 3 as it’s not waterproof and seems somewhat flimsy. I’ hope DJI when the P 4 comes, improve weather sealing and durability too. Cheers👍👍
I think there are some good underwater housing options for it. As for water resistance, I'm not sure how it handles that. What do you shoot on instead?

Great question! Unfortunately the monitor mount takes up the thread where the tripod would go. A bit more effort but the super clamp I mentioned later in the video would work. Attach the magnet to that and then clamp it to the tripod, you’d have a lot more freedom for positioning the phone that way too. I hope that makes sense!

@Callam-Dent fantastic first video too. Are you need to creating a channel in here for this kind of stuff? Also..i_ looking at the pocket 3 a lot lately...is it still worth getting?
