- The Aristocrats playing at the Oddball Festival at the Phoenix Marketcity in Mumbai on Feb 17, 2023. What a killer set. Recorded in iPhone 13.
DISCLAIMER- All music and material in this video is the property of The Aristocrats, I do not have any claim to the rights. This video is purely for the love of the band and their craftsmanship.
it's impressive how the execution of this song is always getting better, everytime!
Yeah he’s always evolving it. He adds an altered chord voicing now for the intro, just before the melody. 1:45
Also the guitar is higher, closer to his chin. The man is going the jazz way.
The White Wizard and his musical magicians!!! This tune truly captures the exact sense of a bad asteroid!!
under normal circumstances i have difficulty listening through vids with 'phone quality' sound (not that this is that bad, and thanks so much for uploading!) but with guthrie and the aristocrats i don't even notice it once they start playing. absolute magicians.
Probably shot with a good quality iPhone
Put a recording like this in a vehicle with a proper sound system and you will think differently about it. It’s like you are there.
i notice it me
that dude can play in a tiny 10 watt practice amp and still will sound kick ass. Pure talent!
i was there. i wish i was still there
Whomever is on the crew working the projector is the bomb. This goes out to those guys for the great outer space footage!
I loved that too! although Guthries playin is the real bomb still...
and hes so good that if I pick up my guitar after him I totally respect both of us ...for our efforts! Im 57 and having played since teenage I now have some hand probs..., but my ears are good and I never went for speed even younger, so Ill keep on the guitar as long as possible, slowish with warm bluesy jazzy tone ...so: boost for Birdsburg!
@@kimmolingonheimo Guthrie's playing is always incredible.
i was there i can confirm this was an absolutely rad gig from start to end flew by !!!!
The Bangalore one was probably the best concert I've ever been to - didn't hear 1 slip-up from anyone!
Amazing performance. The Indian crowd is always so energetic and supportive. Thanks for the upload!
Then, they all ran out into the streets after the show, and were communally openly defecating...
God almighty what a talented group of musicians. 👏👏👏
Gonna see these guys on February 24th! Woohoooooo! CAN'T FUCKIN' WAIT!!! 😝🤘
I've been so fortunate in my life as I've met and drank tea with Shawn Lane ( Southampton England 1996 ) and enjoyed talking to Guthrie with a beer in hand and I can say that Guthrie has both the mind and playing abilities of Shawn. Guthrie is a genius..
wonderful as always. thanks for the upload!
WOW! Never heard of them. Outstanding Thank you!
what a great crowds!
We should all be thanking that “bad asteroid”; without it, we humans might never have gotten to where we are today!
I'm surprised we haven't taken our own species out yet, which will occur soon, I'm sure...
@@ami2evil You are sure? Based on some outdated political agenda? Cringe. Humans are living longer than ever and soon will have biological immortality.
I can't of a better guitar ,I'm trying, so skilled, tone is great all the runs are flawless and tasteful. Love this band.
Meant to can't think of a better guitarist
estan idos, tocan estos temas como si nada, tirando fruta, fruta increíble, son lo mas, supremos absolutos
Great to see Guthrie playing again, I was actually getting a bit worried after noticing he hasn't really been playing live as of late
He seems unhealthfully thin. But maybe he’s always been that way idk
@@tj4530far as i can tell yeah he's just been like that all the old pictures I've seen of him show him like that
Simply nice.
Please come to New Zealand as well!
YESS!! Love your work!!
Seen them!
I saw them last August. My second time seeing them. They're so much fun to see live!
Awesome!
Hey, I was there! It was awesome! 🤘
HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE?
Saw them live in London. Mind blowing.
Super group…Period. Their talent is mind blowing! Awesome!
Absolutely phenomenal. Guthrie is in a class all his own.
Saw them twice in Asheville NC at the Isis. Just incredible musicians, all three.
This song has evolved.
The musician's musician
This is one of the greatest rock trios of all time - up there with Hendrix, Cream, Rush and Buddy Holly and the Crickets!
the greatest, most talented 3 piece band our world has ever seen
These guys are great, but no. Rush took that title 30 years ago.
@@mikeiwinski5976 and green day too
@@mikeiwinski5976lmao
It used to be taboo to say this ...but Guthrie IS the world's greatest guitar player!
I have been alive long enough to have seen the Who, Van Halen, Deep Purple, Zeppelin(but never saw them live) AcDc, Clapton, Mr Big, and all that great 70s stuff...
Guthrie, if not 1or two..is definitely in the top 3 of ALL time...style, ability, TIMING!!!...
he is just amazing!!
Not even really my style but the guy has it going on!!
Pure energy..
A living virtuoso!
Thanks for the video!!
Umm no.
Subjectivity matters.
Guthrie is for sure (one of them).
But you have to think about (from technical perspective) :
1. Eddie Van Halen
2. Tom Quayle
3. Matteo Mancuso
4. Shawn Lane
5. Paulo Gilberto
6. Julian Lage
And many, many other players.
It depends on people's taste.
@@dicky4435 From an unbiased technical perspective. Guthrie is number 1, EVH doesn't even make the list sadly.
Is Bryan running Ampeg SVT4 Pros now?
Guthrie The Grey/White - magic at its best!
bravo les aristochats merci les gars
I think Brian’s beard deserves a song of its own.
All I can say is! What a fuckin' genius!
Was with my 14 year old son in the first row at Phoenix Mall, Mumbai.
Question for the gear guys. I’m noticing an absence of amps on stage for Guthrie. I know he’s been using modelers for certain dates as an alternative. Is this one of those shows he’s using a milder? I believe it was AxFx right!
he's using FM9 and FRFR headrush in the last asian show
@@OniBguitar I thought so. His sound is awesome. Thanks for the reply.
It seems Guthrie's sound palette keeps getting broader. I like it.
nur Geil !
Always enjoy watching this power trio! Now; for Guthrie and Marco to get coloured beards too! :)
remember the 80;s
Is running Guthrie throw digital amp/sim?
YUP
Id quit again but im too old..
Jesus' plooking Santa Claus phenomenal musicians ...
Looks like this guitar has an extra toggle switch (2 in stead of 1, to go to single coil mode)
The guitar Wizard.
Incomprehensible! What else can come "after" other than antiseptic copies?
Does anybody know? looks like no in ear monitors with these guys, I know Guthrie stopped using guitar amps live, seems he has 4 monitors surrounding him. Makes sense for a 3 piece, who interact like they do….
Anyone know what amp setup Guthrie is using these days?
Fractal!
its beena decade since i first saw them, and still so fxng tight. GG looks like a shifu now.
Bryan Beller Satriani’s bass player
He is standing on the shoulders of giants: Frank Zappa and Jeff Beck.
at least, this is shot horizontally...! Next time, zoom out tho. catch the whole band in action. it's worth it
This guy was telling me that this is known as herder music. I guess a style of fusion. He said it makes him violent. I thought that was strange.
Did the drummer have Bombay belly that day. Plus the song would open up with fast fusion drumming.
Is Guthrie using digital gear on this tour ? cant see an amp on stage ?
Yes...Fractal FM9.
Here in this video he talks about ruclips.net/video/By-3FZPlnaw/видео.html
Yeah it’s an amazing digital rig. His rig interview is really nice. Love the way he’s open to evolving with the times. Class act all the way. And not to mention, the tones are absolutely monstrous.
Is that Marco on drums?
I want to be able to play like that 😂 guthrie is God!
Pretty sure he’s using the fractal FM9 rig here. Sounds wonderful
You are right Guy.❤

3:40 I’m convinced this band all share a singular brain
If i spend all my time playing guitar..focus all my life being good at guitar..do you think i can also play this good??
Good video. The sound? Not so much, but thanks!
My feet are cold.
I only like good asteroids!
reminds me a little of the Dixie Dregs. Ridiculous talent.
they didn't play this in Blr :(
WTF ? Why not? They played it in Hyd !
Gandalf the Guitarist
I’m guessing he’s paying tribute to Vai (Bad Horsie)
Sounds a bit like UZEB. Nice.
👍👍👍🫀🫀🫀⛲⛲⛲♨♨♨🔊🔊🔊✅✅✅💚💚💚
2023 ? Longest Marco band
"Am I boring you with this introduction?"
Surely Tommy Saxondale is back stage being road crew.
Great video, but why GG dont use the new Charvel guitar?
He does, but mostly for Drop D songs
New one is too dark I think. But it's still a GG Charvel Model.
Which guitar is he playing here? Can someone please let me know.
@@petruccifanboi he’s playing his custom Charvel guitars. He tours with 2.
@@Samguitarguy94 Naicee ! Yes, i saw the two guitars in the Hyderabad gig but couldn't figure out that they were Charvel. I guess he has moved on from his Suhr guitars , not sure why. Also, I guess he is now experimenting with digital processor but i couldn't find it on the stage too, funny enough. I love the Tremol-No feature on his guitar, quite handy on a floating bridge.

Guthrie is just unreal
Agelessness band
Just to mess with the planet Guthrie need to play some wild BC Rich guitars. 😂😎🤘
Laser.
Guthrie the white
I'm not familiar with Govan. At first he sounded like Mike stern but then wow
Guthrie did a Chromazone cover, it was amazing!
@@NateTheGreat440 I bet it was
So what that old Grey wil learn us again?
Guthrie is an ok guitarist. There was at least one note he played that I could play
He's more like Leland Sklar of guitar.
lol, i know the gutarists two seconds watching this lol..
Guthrie es me leder
Bass player and drummer? Only Guthrie?
Fuckin Einstein
Sure wish to get a chance to see GG without the Aristocrats and simply doing his own stuff. One can hope.
Wouldn't count on it and frankly i doubt it would be very different from the aristocrats anyways
WAIT…………..
SINCE WHEN IS GUTHRIE’S HAIR PURE WHITE?!
he has now achieved full wizard status
play free bird
i hear so many indian accents in the crowd 😆
Had attended this gig and was not so happy firstly with the sound and secondly the song selection by Aristocrat ( Waves , seven , fives , wonderful slippery thing etc ) such melodious songs were not played also the band was not interacting much with the crowd and the connection with the crowd was missing.
Undoubtedly with such a giant line up and guitar god the expectation is always a level up.
I hope we get to see a better song selection next time 😅
Yeah I was gutted too. But you have to realize this was an Aristocrats gig, not Guthrie’s tour. So obviously they’d have to stay true to what they’re paid for, that is to play only Aristocrats material. I don’t blame them at all. I was dying for Waves and Wonderful slippery thing, but realized it’s not a Guthrie solo tour. Next time hopefully 🤞🏼 Also a huge dick move by the management to switch LisaX to play first because the Kraken guitarist was busy giving some interview. I had planned to arrive at the end of Kraken so I could see Lisa play, then got to know she had just gone off stage, was bloody pissed off. But I got a photo with the group so some ice on the wound haha.
Try listening to Aristocrats's album songs for a change, they aren't here to perform Erotic Cakes
The band not connecting with the crowd may have to do with their age man , they are all in their early 50s ! Also, they have been on tour for long . Here, in India, Guthrie literally sat down on the stage after a few songs while Marco was doing his drums solo . I imagine, a tour like this must get really tiring and the guys are not getting any younger, got to cut them some slack. I was happy and let Guthrie know while he was leaving the stage, what an honour it was to have them in India !
@@petruccifanboi Feels like a product of the event/venue, or just the end of a really long tour. I saw them in Colorado last summer and all three of them were highly interactive. It was a smaller venue (~4-500 max capacity) and I was standing front row (close enough I could have reached my arms out and touched them, stage only slightly elevated) and there was off-mic banter between songs to those in the front and lots of banter/interaction with the crowd throughout the set. Lots of energy and they seemed to be having the time of their life.
I noticed the sound aspect when I caught the show in Bangalore. They usually play club gigs (closed venues) as opposed to open air.
The sound was better when I watched them last time around at a club.
Cause this was a festival, there's not much time for crowd interactions. They had to cut their setlist short here, didn't play Bad Asteroid :/
