Yup, he said he doesn't like practicing he'd rather play, lol. Makes sense when you're that good. He also said he started playing around 2 or 3 yrs I believe.. I wish there were some old ass young gg tapes on youtube.. like when he was a kid or teen or even 20s... I love the fellowship. Gg and the sax dude ripping it together.. and his bro on bass.
@@krookiemonster2673 Yea, GG's brother Seth Govan was also the bass player on the "Erotic Cakes" album, and what I can say: he's shure enough up to the job there!
Only once for me, but I was literally standing in front of center stage with Marco's bass drum about 10 feet in front of me. It was a good place to be.
I've seen them once, front row, in the middle, comparing them to other great acts I've seen wouldn't be fair, the Aristocrats are on another level entirely.
He's just like every single "greatest guitar player ever" in one package, on command in a split-second, freely moving between the oceans like an Orca. I'm kinda new to Guthrie. But I'm a 38 year pro guitar veteran. I can fkng PLAY. But he just puts the joy back into it for me. He's beyond incredible.
Mr. Govan is DEF something special! Lots of chops, musicality, creativity. Those things don't always appear together quite this prolifically. The whole band is phenomenal!. But Guthries guitar playing is truly inspired, unique, adventurous 😮🎉
Never seen someone play like that. The technique was amazing, but it wasn't for the sake of being flashy, it all added to the song and was really fun to listen to!
Welcome to GG. If you want to explore his music more, move on to his own stuff. Much much better than the stuff with these guys. *Ner Ner* , in particular might be one of the best guitar compositions, ever.
One of the incredible things about Guthrie is that his playing really transcends genres. He can do metal, jazz, prog, country etc. all equally well, but it always still sounds like him.
He has a very distinctive legato as well, because he does it so fast but pulling off hard, so it sort of sounds like he's plucking notes, but he isn't.
About a month ago I was listening to the album version of this song, along with all the rest on my Aristocrats iPod playlist, on a long road trip in my Mustang through Wisconsin and Michigan... and suddenly tonight it pops up on my RUclips feed. How on earth do they know?! Anyway, sometimes life is very very good... and these guys are part of that.
I'd love to see (and hear!) this guy play back to back with a young Italian fellow named Matteo Mancuso. Those two are the only guitar players I know at the moment who could make each other sweat. Of course there will be more of those aliens out there but I don't know them.
It's important to remember this isn't a mindless fretwank, it's a ridiculously intricate composition that they're all somehow remembering and playing flawlessly. How he taught it to his band mates is another level of head-scratching. Makes Rush sound like Oasis.
For a musician and stoned asf this is a outer body and outer dimensional experience. Here you have human potential as its finest. This is why they come from everywhere to listen to this crazy humans. I guess.
Yeah nice, very arstsy fartzy tempo & riff/like noodle minestrone soup, yet with a theme for sure, loved the blue wind tribute for Beck in it too particularly.....Guthrie and the unit know their historic influences for sure. Total thieves!!!! but with a twist.
Playing in the illumination of the police state while making sure never to look directly into the panoptoconic lens - and quite deftly, I might add (mm’yes).
The dam song sounds JUST LIKE A THUG !!! Bruh, Guthrie is not only the most talented, spontaneous, technical, improviser and dominant guitarist on earth, but also the best when it comes to name sounds !
Great technique and most of the time it is very musical. But I think a Hammond player could make a difference because sometimes Guthrie does not fill enough the musical space.
Guthrie is my all time favorite guitar player, but I can't help but notice his guitar tone is very sterile and lifeless in recent years. I wish he'd go back to using a decent sounding amp. Huge fan either way.
sorry but i played for so many years but how can we listen to this music so borin ? ok , i know a lot of people gonna insult me lol !!! i hate nobody but i cannot ! one question and i quit , haw can you stay and listen ?????????????????? men two great virtuoso gowan and mancuso !!! but i have to leave lol bye !

On "furtive Jack" He is partly emulating Django ,Jeff Beck & Shawn Lane & Allen Holdsworth.I never hear a bone of originality coming from Guthrie but he is a great emulator of other guitarists.
No originality? What world do you live in? I’d love to see another trio that sounds like this. Btw, this called “getting together just for fun and having most of the rest of the planet (at least the ones that know anything about music) loving it. I sense a little envy going on?
Odd to think that combining all of those great influences you mentioned does not count as originality in your book... Isnt that what art is about? Taking something already done and doing it in another way? Even the great allan holdsworth had influences (his use of Olivier Messiaen's scales) But to each his own i think... the boundary between original and copy can be blurry at times in art but imho in this case it is clearly guthrie's voice and not any of those you mentioned im hearing
It must be a gay theif! I always heard a soundtrack in my head when I was a criminal it was more like pink Floyd’s RUN!!!! Or Judas Priest the ripper & breaking the law

Guthrie definitely another dimension. It is not a level that can be reached by practice.
well, he does look like a wizard. @Screaming-Organism
He is embracing his early Pink Floyd, Todd Rundgren, Yes, ELP.
Asked about practice, Guthrie once answerd, he never practised - he played all the time...
Yup, he said he doesn't like practicing he'd rather play, lol. Makes sense when you're that good. He also said he started playing around 2 or 3 yrs I believe.. Die 3 sind nicht nur absolute Genies auf ihren Instrumenten, sondern besitzen auch noch einen großartigen Humor 😊🙏
I've been lucky enough to see these guys twice. They are all three at the top of their game.
Only once for me, but I was literally standing in front of center stage with Marco's bass drum about 10 feet in front of me. It was a good place to be.
For sure. Thats a bass player. So fun to experience.
I've seen them once, front row, in the middle, comparing them to other great acts I've seen wouldn't be fair, the Aristocrats are on another level entirely.
I love the taste of Guthrie playing,
Mind Blowing Musicianship!

guthrie is guitar jesus. and the bassist is murderface from the adult swim show metalocolypse. (aka the band deathklok)

Siii, imagínate un disco de él con Jhon five 💥

Guthrie reinvented the guitar! 🎯
My Apple Music randomly played a Guthrie song and I've been on a month long deep dive into his musical genius! Just missed them in Seattle last week 😩

Wild, mercurial intelligence, creative wit and technical chops to equal any musician in the world. Git w/ it. Life is a jam.
Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely amazing. So glad that I went to see them in Madrid and even drunk a beer with them.
Fantastic!! Thank you!!
Amazing,on a group and individual level, musical geniui.im struggling to put in words what I have just experienced
thanks for posting....this kinda gem...cause youve never heard a recording of his playing this close
This is something else. love it.
Django, baby! GG is just one of the best guitarists ever!
Enjoyed the “gypsy” blues vibe. Reminded me of Jango Reinhardt or Stephane Grappelli. All was very nice
Beautiful ❤!
Great Trio, each of them are essential
Saw him with Steven Wilson.
Incredible.
Otherwordly, in a category and class all of it's own. Now to close my mouth.
The jam of all jams 😉
I wanted to like but saw 420 👍
Guthrie's playing is so good.
Unbelievable!
awesome man!!!!!!!!!

Check out a couple of others aliens too...Steve Stevens and Rob Marcello too! like Guthrie both players are in a very unique zone! enjoy!!!
I wonder what Shawn Lane would have thought of Guthrie, and some of the newer phenoms like Matteo Mancuso and Max Ostro.
@@CapOlimar I think he would say, from maniac to maniac, welcome to the club but don't follow me too early ;)
The group is already perfect and there is no need to say that
There are many aliens from other worlds, but Guthrie is their leader.
Wish I'd seen this on October 14 th ... when Australia took a very sad blow to the heart

Last sentence nailed it! “Makes Rush sound like Oasis”
I assume that's Marco Minnemann on drums, but from this angle I can't tell. Glad they're back together, these guys are amazing!
Get Guthrie on stage with Robert Marcello and Steve Stevens at all cost please!!!!!
Yes ... Guthrie Govan. Yeah ... Marco Minnemann. But listen to this bassman! And All the three without klick! After Bach, there´s still music in life.
完美的视角完美的画质和声音~!❤
please be careful of what you post rolling stone magazine might see this
lol. Gold. Fuck rolling stone. They aren’t even the same company as when they started. Corp owned now.
Rolling Stone is not competent enough to know what an EXTREMELY talented guitar player could be.
😂
What's rolling stoned gona do? Get offended?
Rolling stone magazine is beyond irrelevant.
Моё любимое трио. У всех игра Экстра - класс. (Серёга из ТТ).
TIF that, as a guitar player, the only thing I have in common with Guitar Gandalf, is that I also use Fast Fret. That's about it... :(
Also did you know Guthrie never plays any of his songs the same as the previous concert or album. It is different and boutique in every concert.
For a musician and stoned asf this is a outer body and outer dimensional experience. Here you have human potential as its finest. This is why they come from everywhere to listen to this crazy humans. I guess.

2:12 Guthrie implies Fur Elise.
I was lost after he said it was in 5/4.
Unreal. Guthrie says he can't remember if he spoke with the guitar or his mouth first. Again.....Unreal.
@christopher kreiss do you have the "Through the Flower" performance of this same presentation recording?
this is impossible to remember and repeat the same twice, are they improvising this or are they assigned a song?
Love to see Guthrie play with Mateo Mancuso, the upcoming superstar
Really worried about Govan, his only 51yo looking like 71. I wish him to live forever.
Saucy Jack wants a word.
5:11 Brian implies Hall of the Mountain King
Playing in the illumination of the police state while making sure never to look directly into the panoptoconic lens - and quite deftly, I might add (mm’yes).
where is the excerpt 3?????
Right before the actual song began, I got 2 commercials shoved in my face. FY youtube.
Anyone know anything the piggy bank? Does Guthrie put a coin in it for any bad note played?
Its a squeak toy... its a band member actually :)

Sounds a little like the overture to Saucy Jack.
But he seems like just a regular guy?!?!
3 aliens on our planet playing music from another world.
These three aint half bad eh.
I think alot things the guitar player is going over alot of peoples heads, that guy is insane on the guitar!
such a shame he wasnt appreciated in his prime, vai always seemed jealous that satriani liked guthrie more than him
Boy this guy has aged immensely, looks like a 70 year old grandpa with this all white hair
