I still don’t understand. A project manager for what type of job? I kind of understand the material covered from a military leadership perspective. But how do you fit my set of skill sets (included everything that you covered) into the actual type of project in the civilian world. Can you provide a video breaking it “Barney style”. For example, “Joe is a going to build his resume, interview and accept a job as a project manager dealing with landscaping (this area can be changed), but he provided his 5 year experience as a landscaper to now accept the task of recruiting landscapers, assigning their tasks, assessing their performance as well as understanding the future landscaping projects, getting his higher ups at ease by letting them know that you know what you are doing. Then providing them with updates on the progress of the projects, etc…” this could be applied into any other type of areas as a project to manage, right?

Hello Sir! I am from india and i am 20yrs old a marketing student wanted to change my line into a project management...If you can help me in any way please let me know!
I’m two mind now,I have to choose Project and Business management.I think everyone can’t be project manager because you must work with individuals satisfaction and motivated team members but it’s interesting job.
This is so useful! I am a PM who shift (somehow) into a doer/BA role. I am looking to tighten up my boundaries and be more effective at actually managing the project.
Guess it depends on the department u work what’s their expectation of a PM. Sometime they give a PM title but want more than a pure PM. I myself r PM title but also does BA/Product. Although u r not expected to be a SME on it but with those skills set, definitely helps with understanding and managing the project timeline and result better. Sometime if is just PM role, the expectation of deliverables and schedule doesn’t make sense to business and tech team. Especially if the department is a small one and resource is limited, then a PM role will likely be doing more job title.
Great video ! Got to know about the major roles of a Project Manager in an organization that helps them to run successful projects.Definitely, it will also help me to be a good leader or manager in my career in project management. Do project managers communicate with customers? Im looking for a job where I can work from home and have little interaction with customers. Anything apart from accounting?
Great question, Tom! It depends on what industry you are in. For most of the projects I manage, a majority of the work is in the office with site visits in some cases. Hi Adriana, Great Video. I have a question: I am currently stuck between doing my scrum master or project management certification. What is your opinion on this Thanks in advance
Hi Oyewale…thanks for your question. Let me ask you, what industry do you work in? Knowing this will allow me to better answer your question. In the meantime, here is my general recommendation: Getting your PMP will always be a good thing, no matter the industry you work in. Plus the fundamentals apply to all PM methods, including agile. Getting your scrum master certification is great if you work in software and if your organization supports agile ways of working. Hope this helps you in making your decision. PS….one more option is you can do both. Do the scrum certification and take my practical project management course which will teach you the foundational items based on PMP frame work. This will give you the best of both worlds. Go to: www.AdrianaGirdler.com to check out the course. Cheers. 🙂
There isn't a specific or primary software used by project managers. Sometimes it will depend on the company and if they have implemented a program for them to use. Thanks, I'm glad I found you. I'm a Sales Enablement manager and I've taken on a very large re-organization / policy update "project" for my organization and we don't have access to a PM, so I'm playing the role of the PM as well as the role of the sales enablement expert hoping to get this project rolling. I can already tell I'll be leaning on your content to help with managing the project!
@moores1478, I am glad you found my channel as well. Sounds like you have a big job on your hands. I do have a new course that will be launching mid Sept called SLAY Project Management Pro which is a coaching program lead by myself. Feel free to check it out when time permits.

Fantastic! Love hearing excitement like this! Wishing you and your team great success. Thanks for watching, cheers.
Just barely got into the video, and she’s diving right to point. Love it keep it up, very useful information 💯
Thank you so much! Happy that you found this video helpful and to the point. Cheers!
Go team! I’m actually growing my team now so this is great content at the right time! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Wishing you all the best on making the choice and thanks for watching, cheers!
This is so useful! I am a PM who shift (somehow) into a doer/BA role. I am looking to tighten up my boundaries and be more effective at actually managing the project.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for watching, cheers!
Thank you., Great Data on The Role of the Project manager, I am taking this course., very well, I admire your delivery. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾♾👑💯
Thank you so very much! Wishing all the best and great success. Cheers!

Good content, I personally would never ask for a deadline on noon Friday, make it Thursday, this way you allow time to compensate if things haven't been done to the correct standard.
Hi Dave thanks for watching and fantastic suggestion. Thanks for sharing and watching, cheers!
Hi there, I think an awesome video for a new young PM is how to become an effective communicator. I talk to my buddies still in school about being an assistant PM and a big thing that comes up is the amount of communication that I do. I am fine with it but I know a lot of people especially in engineering school are standoffish towards idea of communicating a lot with random people and don't know where to start. Thanks for your time and great video!
Thanks so much, Dan. Communication is so very important not just as a PM but in business as a whole. Happy to hear you are guiding your friends on the importance of effective communication:) Thanks for watching, cheers!
Enjoyed the video. Very interesting and helpful

Do project managers communicate with customers?
Im looking for a job where I can work from home and have little interaction with customers. Anything apart from accounting?
As a project manager you will be interacting continually with your team and outside suppliers as required. Thanks for watching, cheers!

Hi am thinking of doing a apprenticeship in project management. One Question does project management an office job or do you go on site to?thanks
Great question, Tom! It depends on what industry you are in. For most of the projects I manage, a majority of the work is in the office with site visits in some cases. Good briefing! Happy seeing ,,,,,,,,,
Thank you very much, and thanks for watching, cheers!
Go team! In my project the client is constantly trying to hurt himself (metaphorically) we ready know best practices but they have this illusion speeding things up by jumping hoops that we know is going to bite them later on. It has been a bit frustrating.
That’s definitely sounds frustrating. I wish you great success for this project even though it sounds like you have some hurdles to overcome. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
@@AdrianaGirdler Thanks!!! I guess I need to work on my communication skill to make them understand why is wrong and why is better for them on the long run to do it right. Although it feels like I shouldn't have to explain why doing things right is the right way hahaha. we have a procedure already in place just follow it haha. but that's what you get when you work with humans, especially the ones that feel have power.
Thanks for explaining the role of the project manager! Great vid.
Thanks for watching. Hope this information was helpful in understanding the role of a project manager. Cheers!

Hi Adriana,
Great Video.
I have a question: I am currently stuck between doing my scrum master or project management certification.
What is your opinion on this
Thanks in advance
Hi Oyewale…thanks for your question. Let me ask you, what industry do you work in? Knowing this will allow me to better answer your question. In the meantime, here is my general recommendation:
Getting your PMP will always be a good thing, no matter the industry you work in.
Cheers. 🙂
Go Team !
Thank you, this was helpful. Still trying to figure out what career I want to follow.
So glad this was helpful and wishing you all the best as you search for the right career for you. Cheers!
Is this a good fit for former teachers? Seems like a major part of my teaching career is project management but with kiddos.
Hi Jessica, absolutely. Check out my latest video, the Pros and Cons of a project management career. Thanks for watching, cheers!
Great video! I remember when I worked in corporate recruiting I got this question a lot :D Very helpful!
Anna, it's a question I have been asked on numerous occasions as well. Thanks for the great feedback and for watching, Cheers!
Go Team! What are the primary software used by project managers to communicate with the team?
There isn't a specific or primary software used by project managers. Sometimes it will depend on the company and if they have implemented a program for them to use. I use a sharepoint site with my team. Check out this video, I think it may be of help to you ruclips.net/video/t28rU_3bIyA/видео.html
