This is spot on, from top to bottom. The Project Manager hate is real but usually dies down (for the most part) when they see your value add because the same ones that hated me now come to me for support 😒😩. The panic is real too, even though I tell myself not to panic I still find myself freaking out at times.

As a project manager how you communicate is definitely important. I speak differently between engineers, my fellow PMs, senior management and tradespeople. I am a professional friend maker. It will get you far to have empathy and know how to make people happy.

How would one work on being a better “friend maker”? I’m currently being trained by a senior PM and being “molded” specifically for the company and the one thing I struggle with most is speaking to people and holding conversations.
@cringesh1t427 hey, try creating more meaningful conversations with people. Allow people to speak about their interests, and to do that you need to be an active listener: maybe ask more open ended questions this helps to keep the conversation going
This is the nice list of project manager. True reality is drop the word "manager" from your title. You coordinate, expedite, and administrate projects. The core project team is usually made up of you, you, and you. Decision making and direction made by other managers "stakeholders", your assigned resources only listen to direction if their functional manager tells them to, and you are not part of the management team within your organization. PMs are "pooper scoopers" or catch all. Responsibility without authority. After 10 years of performing project management in various industries, I laugh when I hear someone becoming a project manager. It is a great career for people that are easy going and go with the flow. If you are a take charge person that likes to lead, this is a bad career choice.
Thank you for the insight! Based on your 10 years of experience what is a career better off for those that want a leading role with taking charge? If not can you explain what makes project management more towards the flow and not towards deligation?
@flyoverjr6265 if you want to lead and be respected and rewarded for your hard work, operations management is a better option. Maybe IT Project Management is an option if you have a technical background.

I have heard that it’s best not to become a PM. As companies won’t employee with just a course as PM. Can you also tell me where I can do a PM course?
As an IT project manager, Can you work as a product manager? Can you do a video comparing both in the same work environment?
I don’t know if I’m wrong but both roles sound alike except that project ends. What happens when project is finished?
Can you elaborate on industries for both projects and product manager?

What kind of laptop specifications is good for project management program?
Hey, just a standard laptop with a fast processor will be fine. Make sure you have the Microsoft office suite on there also, you gonna need that :)
I wanted to start a career as PM. I have two questions:
Do you think that a new PM with no experience, I’ll be able to work? The reason why I asked is because I heard that companies now won’t employ someone with just a course and no experience
Are you able to recommend me a PM course in UK?
1. Some companies still do at a very junior level in pm ( so not as a project manager), but it will be harder. Pm is very competitive these days
2. There are several depending on what type of PM you would like to do. Some are Prince2, agilePM, CAPM, Google project management certificate
