Loved the info! In terms of speaking, though, be cautious of your favorite filler words such as the word “right” because it was constantly distracting justtt a little. Besides that, thanks so much for the info as an aspiring PM :)

I am not sure if you will ever see this comment, however i hope that you do. I have read some material and watched videos concerning project management, in hopes of trying to understand a subject that sounds so intriguing. Agile vs Hybrid and Scrum as well as other words and i still didn't understand what the hell is project management. Then i came across your video. Thank you Jesus. Finally someone who could explain this subject matter in a way that my brain could understand. The eye opener for me was the way you connected the Health care company with the project that you were working on. You made me understand the connection between the two entities. A project manager is someone who is a part of the constant refinement, innovation, upgrade and technical process that produces a deliverable outcome. The result can be measured by the organizations efficiency of administrative protocols and process, if that is the goal. I hope that makes sense.

As a fellow PMP I found your video very good. There is only one thing I have to bug you about, schedule not plan. The project plan should be a separate document outlining the project intent. I am glad you mentioned the different personalities you have to deal with. I have worked under senior management that assumed everyone had to be treated the same, false. Although you listed this as a con, I find it to be a positive. This prepares you better for leadership roles in the future.. My final suggestion would be to learn the technical aspects of your projects as well. With many applications moving to the cloud, you want to know what hardware limitations you might encounter along the way and when they should be in place in your Project Schedule. Take care and keep up the good work.

I like that you are a PM in Healthcare. One of the appeals for this job is how many different industries use PM's. What was your career trajectory? What did you do before being a PM?

    • @thecultivatedplanner

That’s so true! I actually started doing projects in college. I’m a Delta, so I managed projects for my sorority, and was also an event programming intern for the student activities and involvement department. When I graduated, I was actually working at a middle school and started to do projects for them. Then I actually got into healthcare and moved up by taking on projects there. Eventually someone told me that I should actually get my PMP since I was already projects and so I did!

This video just appeared on my main page and I'm so glad it did - I'm a new project manager (in title - I have about 10 years' worth of transferrable skills) and the transition from being a hands-on individual contributor to a facilitator has definitely been a "con" as I get used to it; I'm working through it though and I do love my role. Loved this video! I was recently laid off from my Software Quality Leadership role in the Health Tech space. My role included managing Quality Engineers as well as the projects they supported from the QA side. Often times I managed projects that had nothing to do with my direct reports. Up to 5 projects at once.
While my title didn't read as a PM, I'm hoping my existing project management experience holds weight as I pivot. I'm currently a Lean GB, SAFe6 certification holder and wrapping up the Google PM course. I look forward to learning from you during this journey!

By having a role of project manager, requires various skills to face challenges and situations. There are different benefits of having PM objectives. Project managers encounter risk throughout the project cycle. Good communication is the main key of project managers because they have to listen and understand their team confusions and problems and solve it on time. Project management helps to make managers more flexible and compatible. With this , they come to know about how to put the resources effectively so they can get better results and performance.

Congratulations on the new job! Don’t worry, you got this! Take it project by project and stick to the basics. Check out PMI’s process groups and knowledge areas and let it guide you through the process from initiation to close. Once you do more projects, you’ll figure out what processes are absolutely necessary and which once you can combine or pass on. But use it as a guide and plan ahead as much as possible. I also have some videos on my channel to help you get started. If there are other project managers, speak with them and see what they typically do and what tools they use. It can be a challenging job but it’s exciting and rewarding! You’ll do great! Good luck!💪🏾🥰
