- You're probably wondering how to install this trigger in your Ruger® PC Carbine™ - Well, here's how to do it!
The Binary Firing System® GEN 3 (BFSIII®) is a 3-position trigger. In position 3, it fires one round on pull and one round on release, making it the fastest semi-automatic trigger on the market. This trigger is the ultimate upgrade for your Ruger® PC Carbine™
So, I have put several of FA's binary triggers on, a couple of those like the 10/22's have similar safety replacement springs on them. I finally got smart and put the whole assembly in a 1 gallon zip lock bag and work with it inside the bag so when the spring does inevitably shoot out, it will catch it rather than let it go flying across the room. Also, instead of a punch coming down from the top, I use the smallest flathead screwdriver I can find and depress it and hold it from the left side while coming in from the right with the new safety. As I advance the safety shaft through the hole, I put it right over top of the flathead and slowly back it off so there is no gap, and less chance of the spring shooting out. MUCH easier!
Thank you for sharing your personal tips and tricks! We are glad that you have found a solution which works better for you and that you enjoy our triggers.
Thank you for this! I was about to take it to the gunsmith and pay $60 because I got so tired of trying to find the dog on spring. You're the best!
Excellent tip! Thanks
That selector spring and detent had me crawling around on the floor a few times. My favorite was when I couldn't find the spring until I noticed it had shot into my chest hair and stuck in there. Definitely do that step in a non-cluttered area. Thanks for the video it gave me the confidence to do this at home instead of going to gunsmith.
Ya I've sent a few springs across the room, some never to be found working on ar's back in the day
It helps alot to use a punch smaller than 1/8
Would be great if they offered this already in a trigger pack
Exactly!
New trigger packs can be had for about 60 bucks, so it’s worth it to buy a spare and be able to swap triggers as you like.

Yeah, I don’t bring that binary to California and get caught with it.
And make damn sure your magazines are 10 rounds or fewer.
Just what I needed. Put the mode switch in backwards the first time. Had a heck of a time getting it out. When put in correctly, slid in on the first try! I trimmed one full coil out of trigger spring and 1/2 coil from mode switch spring. Installed on Ruger PC Charger. So much fun!
For pushing down the selector detent it was way easier for me using a small flathead electronics screwdriver. Instead of pushing straight down from the top, I stuck the screw driver in from the selector hole on the left side and just pressed it straight down. Then I was able to move the selector on top of the pin pushing my screwdriver out of the way.
This video helped me out bigtime! Definitely watch first! I wish the instructions would have mentioned the video first! I didn’t find it until I was looking for troubleshooting info. Make sure you are working in a clean uncluttered area. When installing the selector detent and spring, they launched across the room on me several times. Makes finding it easier!
My binary function didn’t work at first. Had to go back and clip the trigger spring half a coil and reassemble to test. Had to do this twice (cut 2 half coils total) and then it started working. Be patient and take your time.
I can't seem to get the binary mode on mine to function properly. It doesn't release the hammer to fire the 2nd shot. Is this the same issue you were having before you cut down the trigger spring?
@@sick_of_all_the_lies4207 , yes, I cut the first half coil, still no good, cut the second half coil, and it works.
I ended up doing the same exact thing. First half coil I clipped didn't work, second half clipped and now it's working like a dream👍
@@sick_of_all_the_lies4207 , glad I could help!
@@garypapesh1345 i did this and it made it worse. I found that no matter what I put down the trigger spring hole it still comes out at a angle. Im gona take it to a gunsmith tomorrow...
Perfect presentation. Flawless instruction .
Bravo 👏, and thank you.
Please make a glock binary trigger!
Just drop a Ghost Ultimate disconnector in a Gen 5 Glock... :)
OMG thank you the directions had me putting it in the other side did not work the directions suck and luckily I had at 10:22 that shared many of the same plungers and Springs I would advise doing this in a small confined room maybe a bathroom.
Holy crap finally installed safety detent and spring definitely hardest part
Kudos for the video. This video helped me to install mine on a PC Charger and I’m loving it.
Great video! it made the installation very easy, no problems whatsoever. However, I'm having a problem the binary function operating properly, I can't get passed function test 6. It's only operating in semi-fire mode, anyone else having this problem? any solutions?
Can't wait to get one! After watching this I'm confident that it will fit in the Magpul backpacker stock. 😒 If it ever hits the shelves that is....
Excellent Install & Function Check Video! Thank You!
I have a Ruger PC Charger. Binary mode wasn’t working for me until I switched out the Franklin trigger detent spring with the OEM spring.
would be great if yall fixed the problems with the trigger before selling the damn thing doesn't always work under binary
Did you get it to work yet
I am unable to get my trigger to function in binary mode. It keeps getting caught by the sear. I see other people are having the same issue and it is from the trigger spring being too long. Would like to see instructions on how to shorten and retest the spring since it seems to happen a lot. Very frustrating install.
Have you contacted our Customer Service Department? They can assist you with troubleshooting this issue.
have you figured out what was causing the problem? ive got the exact same problem
my trigger spring seems long but passed the function test. did this happen to you during live fire? i have yet to shoot mine.
When I release the trigger in binary function it does not release the hammer after pulling the trigger, this is the second time I’ve messed with it now and I have no idea what to do in order to trouble shoot
Please call our Customer Service department at 775-783-4313 for further assistance with this question. .They are available Monday-Friday from 0900-1600 hours (PST). Thank you!

Was having a problem getting binary mode to function correctly, it was firing like a semi-auto. Figured i would comment to help others out that may run into the same issue.
My fix for this way to buy an assortment of springs from Ace Hardware(didnt want to cut the spring that came with the trigger in case i had to return it) and find one that fits, cut it down a coil until binary functioned as it should. I also purchased a Double Tap Trigger Over Travel Limiter trigger plunger.
Would just cutting the spring down work? I'm having the same issue
Can’t get mine to work in binary mode. Acts like it’s in semi mode. Took it apart and reinstalled everything, same issue.
Thanks for making this video. It’s much easier to follow along than the included written instructions.
You can tell you’ve done this a time or two before when you can get that detent spring in without having to cut the camera while you go looking for it 2-3 times. LOL!
Just installed one on my pc charger. It does not pass the last part of step 7- “release the trigger again, and it should reset to the shear.”
Mine does nothing when I release the trigger. It passed all other dry fire tests.
Any ideas?
At 12min 10 sec on your video. All Function checks work perfectly except for straight down on the safety lever it releases the hammer all the way. Is this mean I need to cut my trigger coil spring smaller?
I got mine installed and all the functions work when dry firing, but at the range the binary function only works intermittently.
That sounds like mine! While function testing everything works perfectly. Once I go out to shoot with live ammunition the binary will only do semi.
Called F.A. and they told me the trigger spring may be too long and may not be allowing the trigger to reset fully. Suggested removing 1/2 of a coil from the spring and reattempt. Maximum amount to safely remove is 1 1/2 coils and I am at the maximum with no solution.
I have been having this same issue. I started really playing with it and I personally realized that the safety selector has some play in it...and it actually "falls out" of binary. I pressed the selector firmly into (like trying to go beyond) binary, and it worked again. It keeps falling out of binary, however, and I don't know what to do from here
@@GreatGreenArklesiezure You ever figure this out. Just installed mine and unless I hold the selector up like you said it won't release the hammer.
@@distalpistol exact problem I have. Any solutions??
@@eric9385 I emailed Franklin and they had me send it in and they fixed it. Whole process was pretty quick
Great video, I followed the instruction to the letter. However, my Binary trigger is consistently failing the Function tests. I am very discouraged as I have been trouble shooting for a few hours now. when set to Binary, my trigger almost always falls to the sear instead of the firing pin. I have adjusted the trigger spring, I have dis-assembled and re-assembled the trigger multiple times, and I have googled the problem but have found no answers. Has any one had this problem? I would love feed back.
of all the trouble shooting I have done, it seems like the fire selector is the cause of the problem. the selector has play allowing it to turn past binary slightly. when I hold the selector past binary the hammer falls on the release of the trigger.
that being said, I have had other strange malfunctions while function testing... The bot stayed stuck to the rear while I was holding down the trigger, the ran forward when I let go of the trigger. there is evidence of friction on the bolt from the hammer. the fire selector moves when the hammer isn't cocked sometimes and other times it will not. and once the hammer even dropped to the firing pinn when the selector was set to safe...
I plan on calling Customer support come Monday, but I would have liked to enjoy my day off with a working gun.
What if on binary mode apon release the hammer doesn’t drop 🤦🏽♂️ how do you fix that.
I ordered one yesterday, just waiting now
Help!! I'm getting bolt follow on my binary mode.... Unless I drop the bolt gingerly by hand, the hammer just follows the bolt home; sear refuses to catch and hold the hammer. This is a huge problem, as it's begging for an out-of-battery.
Have you contacted our Customer Service department? If not, that is what I would suggest to troubleshoot. They are available Monday through Friday, from 0900-1600 hrs PST at 775-783-4313 or via email at info@franklinarmory.com

bought a binary trigger for my 10/22. It's been at the gunsmith for installation for 2 weeks now, I'm going insane with anticipation. Maybe I should have just installed it myself? Gun smith said that the 10/22 binary trigger isn't as easy to install as say the AR15 one; it requires some tuning. I've never taken my 10/22 apart so I do not know how to dissassemble it.
Did you ever get your 10/22 running with the binary trigger
I wonder if you could get the re-used parts from ruger and just prebuild it and then have both sets as a pack. or buy a complete trigger pack from them
Win removing the original safety selector only turn it 1/4 turn or you will not be able to push out the safety button. PRO TIP, trust me if you spin it 1/2 ah turn the safety will not push out becaus it has the ridge for the trigger and the detent will engage this ridge causing you not to be able to push out the safe button. If you do this like I did use needle nose pliers to spin the safety back to the right position thin turn it only 1/4 turn. And out it slides with ease. Pushing from the red/fire side.
But this video did get me through the replacement of my trigger, thanks guys you'll keep making fun triggers for guns other than AR15 and for that I am EXTREMELY greatful. I was so excited win I seen this trigger for my Ruger PC Carbin. It is my by far my favorite gun to shoot steel with.
Thanks! Just happened to me.
Thank you sir! That’s exactly what happened to me. It was giving me fits, you saved me from many more.
Thanks 😅 Never got it reset just jammed it with a screw driver till it turned and popped out. Stupid.
Need one for the ps90, Styer Aug and the (barret 50. 🤣). Make them for ar semi auto shotguns. Btw, I had one installed in my pc charger, thank. 😁
what is the purpose of using supplied trigger spring vs the factory one?
When are you going to come out with a BT for the RM14/30???
Excellent video for install! I have my pcc with an Archangel stock . I didn't installed yet. I hope that everything is going to fits and works good! A trigger pack could be better or perfect !! Is posible to have a video on spanish for the details !! By the way than you Frankling Armory for this helpfull video! I will tell or communicate when I insatalled everything!!
If you own a CHASSIS carbine (or Charger "pistol") you will also need to first remove the charging handle(s).
Is this trigger a "Gen. 3" style trigger with a machined disconnect beside the main disconnect as on a Gen. 3 AR binary trigger?
Anyone else had issues where you ended up sending it to them and they couldn’t get it to work in your tigger pack ?
What did FA say
Thanks for this install video, it was a breeze after watching this! Now how about one for the B&T APC45 Pro??
I noticed my trigger spring goes in at a pretty sharp angle behind the trigger. Is that normal on the pc carbine trigger pack?

Did you ever contact them? I’m doing mine, and it goes in at a weird angle as well. The spring plunger hits the back of the trigger on the side a little and not in the middle.

@@nalabishop402 I just ended up running with mine. Haven’t had any problems so far
Anyone have theirs go full auto? Every couple of pulls it goes from binary to full auto.
Hey everyone or to whoever this helps
So I had a trigger that would not fire on the release in binary
I tried shortening the included trigger spring by the suggested 2 links and that didn't work
I tried using the OEM spring and that didn't work
What ended up working was replacing the retention rod that holds the hammer with a very slightly smaller retention rod
With the oem trigger spring and included trigger plunger
Now it runs like a dream
Hope this helps someone
Oh also the selector has a flat side that makes it easier for install like way easier
Doing it the reverse way will give you lots of headaches and lots of misplaced time finding those tiny little pieces
Hey Ben, I am currently having an issue with the binary, (unfortunately I ruined the oem trigger spring) but when you mentioned the “hammer retention rod” are you referring to the pin holding it in? Thank you for the comment and help!
What is Franklin up to now. Any new triggers coming out? Maybe something for those of us who like older weapons like the C96 Mauser?
Mine doesn't work on binary mode!
Did you find the problem
Will you be making a video for installing the B&T trigger model?
Hey great video, will you guys ever make this for the savage model 64?
Didn't the ATF ban these?
They banned the force reset triggers
Do you guys have any plans to make a binary trigger for the Tippmann M4 22 That's sweeping the market
I had one put in a 10 22 and the safety switch turns hard but when it's ready to fire it turns easier.
Well I'm doing a full reinstall bc I overnighted the safety screw and now binary doesn't always mean binary.. hoping w a lil luck I don't have to go back to stock 💩
That trigger/spring plunger looks like it is a single item...is that the case?
When are you guys gonna make a video for the ar-s1
So I watch the other video where the guy doesn't use the trigger spring plunger to sit on the back of the trigger and it works and passes all safety tests but trigger pull is I consistent. I was trying it with the spring plunger but it kept going in and pointing to the right instead of sitting In the middle of the back of the trigger. Do I have to tear this thing back down and do it again?

@kevinbutler4127 yes had to cut the spring little at a time till it passed
