I love what Rosario says about those montage shots capturing the girls around the 8 minute mark. Not many movies capture that feeling. It was really ahead of its time and had some great messages about the dark side of the entertainment industry.
It is ABSOLUTELY tragic that this movie wasn't marketed properly - not only is it absolutely HILARIOUS - it's got banging music!! So glad it's become a massive cult classic!
I remember when that movie premiered in 2001, I had many female teenagers who signed up for guitar lessons and bass guitar lesssons because they were inspired by the movie. Because of my guitar students who saw this movie, I saw the movie and I liked it. I also liked the soundtrack for the movie. Now, I want to see this movie again. I own this movie on DVD.
This movie inspired me as young girl 11 year old to create clothing. I’m 32 I went to school to get my bachelors in fashion design…This was definitely one of the catalyst for me being creative in my adult life. Ty.
I unironically really love this movie. It’s a hell of a lot more clever than it has any right to be, the cast across the board is fantastic and the soundtrack is killer.
"the mighty mighty bosstones is the new j& the p.dolls " lol, I did enjoy this movie. I almost forgot I had the DVD. But w/ the xs I forgot where I put any of my stuff. But I wouldn't doubt ppl stole it. And nothing was ever done
Watched this movie tonight for the first time in about 18 years and remembered every single word of the songs! Had the soundtrack and cassette! I want a Big Mac! Lol
I was in my late teens when this movie came out and I'm grateful I came across it back then. I shared a house with a few roommates and we didn't have cable so we all watched a lot of movies and this was one I watched quite often back then. I even downloaded the songs off Limewire to burn onto a CD. Good times!
It really is. I was just rewatching it today and there were so many moments where I was saying “oh, I remember that” or “I remember them”. It’s a snapshot of that era.
AMAZING. This was such a great time. The music, the script, the clothes, the storyline, the product placement.... this was just an incredible movie and such a throwback to a 'better time'.
I'm sad that they never made a sequel. They could easily have the band doing a murder mystery in Riverdale while her crazy boyfriend Alexander Cabot is driving her nuts!
I grew up reading Archie Comics, which branched off into other iconic brands, like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and, of course -- Josie and the Pussycats!!! I am in now my late 50s with two grown children, but I saw the Josie film in 2001 for the fun of it, and was instantly transported back to age 10, snapping bubblegum and fan-girling Josie while reading comic books on my bed. Brava! to you three beautiful and talented actresses who brought my childhood back to life! XOXO.
@Superchick2 I read a few Archie Josie & the Pussycats comic strips here and there when I was a kid myself, but my main exposure to the characters was the Hanna Barbera cartoon where they were basically rip offs of Scooby Doo 😆😅😅
22 years later, still my favourite movie of all time. Best soundtrack, best message. I will show my kids, will love this movie til I die. #dejourmeansfamily x
Guilty pleasure film for me! I'm in the same age bracket as Rachel, Rosario and Tara(met her 2x, was so sweet) and like they said it's crazy that 20 years has passed. Deb and Harry are amazing directors and l love their directing style. Glad Josie has gained cult status😺😺😺
These are characters from Archie comics. They frequently perform at Riverdale High School or at Veronica's house in the comics. I wonder if the popularity of the show led people back to this movie...
I remember liking this movie when I saw it in theaters back in 2001 and I was surprised that it flopped so hard. I think it’s interesting that it’s getting recognition by ET cuz I didn’t think anyone remembered this movie.
I moved from New Zealand to Australia to Vancouver British Columbia. Always blows my mind when I hear all these movies I watched when I was younger were shot where I live
Crazy how these girls look nearly the same way they did 20 years ago. Bring back Josie & The PussyCats 💜 I STILL listen to this movie’s sick soundtrack to this day!!
Josie and the Pussycats was the first PG-13 movie I ever watched as a kid I was 4 when I first saw it on STARZ with my parents and my sisters and I loved it and I’m 14 now and I still love it I can’t believe it’s been 20 years when this hit the theaters Same with Shrek
Honestly.. seeing Tara reed like this makes me cry.. like she was my favorite in this movie. Always and forever. But as a recoverd addict. See her like this was so fucking sad
I loved this movie since the first time i saw it back in 2005 on TV, its a classic that i want to see with my daughter when she was at the proper age to understand most of the plot.
This movie built my entire passion and career in music. The first representation i had of cool, talented women who made me understand i could do this too. I ended up being a lead singer and a vocal coach because of this film. Big ups to Rachael, Tara and Rosario but KAY HANLEY you helped me discover my own voice.
To humble brag, for seven years I taught young people who were struggling with themselves and their placement as artists and I got to be an instrumental figure in their lives BECAUSE OF THIS MOVIE.
I think I've watched too many Tara interviews throughout the years because I understood every single word pretty easily haha. Bless her heart. She seems like such a sweet lady, but her enunciation is not the best!
I Looove this movie, everyone in it is just perfect!! and Tara, U will always be the only Melody to us (my fave character, since from the comic book ; )) Loooovve u guys !!
I remember watching this movie on TV then and on Showtime and on DVD it was one of my favourite h movies growing up and wish they did a sequel how cool would be if they did a sink lights all these years or a reboot of Josie and the pussycats😅
My wife is 10 years younger than me and she heard the music when I would play the CD in the car and was like... who is this! :) She became a fan of the movie after that but first, she loved the music :)
Well my hubby, who has a massive shlong, that's from hooliddhgemsgenagabsghhguaunm, 4th generation, that's fluent in alien, that has a red mullet, who's fav band is slayer, that has a degree in social awareness, that's 6 6, 1 time, he played 1 song of theirs on his motorcycle, & it kinda got muffled when we got stuck in between 4 semi trucks on the hwy. But by the time we got off, we only heard a part of it. And I'll never forget that moment. Bc it was the last time I ever heard from him. Bc he stopped & fell off somewhere. But I later heard that he was being too fast too furious. But then he rip'ed.rip earl, he was so hip
I was born in 1991 & in 2001 this was an iconic movie of my childhood. 😂👏🏼 my friends and I would watch this one along with others at our sleepovers. Deff still an icon. I know it got low ratings but yall can’t deny it was a good movie. Julia fox actually reminds me of Fiona. 🤣🤣
I’ve loved this movie ever since I was a kid. I can’t believe it’s been 20 years. 🐱🎸🥁
Hell yeah me too

I played this on my DVD so many times that it cracked! Well, I'm off to buy another copy. This is one of the funniest movies of the very early 2000s.
😂 you still don’t get it, Look at the subject matter 😂 it’s all by design.
Agree
@@largol33t12I think I had a vhs

Rachael crying made me wanna cry lol they can’t fake the love they shared in this movie.
I love these women, always down-to-earth.

Watched this as a kid and I still watch this movie every year! It’s really what the 2000s were.
Did Rosario Dawson and Rachael Leigh forget to age? They both still look stunning!
You’re not kidding.
Poor Tara Reid had a rough road
Tara was beautiful and if she got her stuff together she can be back to being her best.
@@maricor4791 I feel bad for Tara Reid
What happened to Tara ?

this movie is a time capsule to the early 2000s
It really is. I was just rewatching it today and there were so many moments where I was saying “oh, I remember that” or “I remember them”. It’s a snapshot of that era.
This movie really was ahead of its time.
one of the most under rated movies of all time. the girls were all amazing. bugs the hell out of me that this movie didnt get more traction.
AMAZING. This was such a great time. The music, the script, the clothes, the storyline, the product placement.... this was just an incredible movie and such a throwback to a 'better time'.
Woahhhhh 20 years. Where does the time go
I really liked this movie 🍿😁
Yeah
It’s so nostalgic now, time really flies.
I'm sad that they never made a sequel. They could easily have the band doing a murder mystery in Riverdale while her crazy boyfriend Alexander Cabot is driving her nuts!
I didn't expect to wake up and feel ancient. Thanks ET. 😉
Same😫
I designed their dolls for the movie and I was 30 when I met them! Imagine how ancient I feel now! Lol!
@@guruuvy Thats incredible! I had the melody doll! I hope its the one you did!! What an amazing experience! Are you still designing dolls?

I sorta wish they'd had some nod to Albert, Pepper and Sock (from the comics) or perhaps have made Alan M. look a bit more like he did in the comics.
@Superchick2 I read a few Archie Josie & the Pussycats comic strips here and there when I was a kid myself, but my main exposure to the characters was the Hanna Barbera cartoon where they were basically rip offs of Scooby Doo 😆😅😅

They really didn't know how to market it - they flopped it huge! It was a tragedy really!
I love this movie to THIS DAY
This movie made me pick up guitar and dye my hair red in middle school. I loved it so much.
I love love love this movie x the music, the performances and the comedy x
I loved how Alan Cumming plays their evil producer. When he's not producing records, he's a serial killer! I wonder how many bands he killed off...
I still have my Josie doll from this movie and I still watch this movie every yearly anniversary and as a comfort movie
that was awesome! What a great cast reunion!
For the past few weeks I've found myself humming the songs lol. This is awesome. Love this movie❤
I watch this movie annually! So glad got to see them today at their reunion!
the OG Josie and the pussycats, such a classic underrated fun movie!!!
