Fun facts: This film was made in Baltimore Maryland. I was working for a large hotel at the time and we were The Host Hotel for the actors and the Production Studio for the movie Step Up. Keep in mind that no one knew who Channing Tatum was at the time. His co-star, Jenna Dewan, and him had actually met on set. Through their three months at the hotel they developed a relationship. But my main reason for posting this is that Jenna Dewan has got to be one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I've worked in the hotel business for 20 years and believe me I've seen all kinds of people. I saw Karen's before there were Karen's. However I would see Jenna everyday she would always say hello to me when she was standing in the lobby waiting for her ride to the set, she would sit at my desk and we would talk, and she was so sweet and so nice and I just fell in love with her. I did not know who she was as an actress. Channing on the other hand must be a method actor because I would see him almost every day but he would come down from his room dressed exactly like his character in the movie Step Up. He'd have the sideways baseball cap, he'd have on the gray sweatpants the baggy t-shirt the headphones were always in he didn't talk to anybody he just stood in the lobby and it was weird, like I don't even know what to say, I kind of got a bad feeling about him and ever since then I never really liked to watch his movies. He ended up marrying Jenna and then they had a daughter and now they're divorced but she still as beautiful as ever and to this day when I think about my career I have fond memories of her being really one of the nicest people I've ever met.
I'm glad Jenna was so friendly, but I hope you'll spare some assumptions about people who behave like Tatum did. I'm a socially awkward, anxious person and also don't make conversation unless I have to. Unless he was rude, he didn't do anything wrong.
Omg it's fate that you're reviewing this, I rewatched this movie literally a couple of nights ago and I was crying at how this grown man was supposed to be portraying a high schooler 😭
I was in secondary school when that movie came out, and we rented it for a free day movie at the end of the term. Imagine a classroom *stuffed* with 13-15 year old girls watching this cinematic masterpiece. You could practically feel the love for Channing Tatum growing as the movie went on 💅✨
The movie trope where there's a moment when a group is not doing great, then a friend dies, then they all of a sudden have a boost of confidence/talent so they can win whatever...I call it the "let's do it for Shorty!" moment.
@@Katya_Lastochkahi. I don't like what it could imply about the dead friend. Were they that bad a friend that their presence negatively affected the group then their absence made everyone else feel better? That last one means they didn't know who they had as a friend until that friend died.
@@myownheroisonlyme5721 no, it's because that friend meant a lot and so when they're all down, they use the friend as motivation to do better in memory of the friend no longer with them

Fun story when Step Up 2 came out I was 13 and I went to the movies with my first boyfriend (17 yikes) and his friend. When we came out of the movies my bf acted like it was the most life changing movie he had ever seen, he turned up some 2000s rap and said “I JUST WANA DANCE” and was krumping in the driver seat while driving. He pulled over into the Walmart parking lot, turned the music up really loud and him and his friend who had probably never danced in their lives started trying to dance like in the movie. He was a real winner, he ended up buying a tattoo machine and tattooed some of the worse tattoos you could ever see. Like the type of tattoos you would see on a list article “top 10 worst tattoos” like he did a Fox motocross logo on his neck with a gun on the other side and both were nearly unrecognizable. I could really go on about some really embarrassing and horrific stories relating to him 😩
Same thing happened after seeing the first fast and furious and 8 mile in the theater. After leaving the theater when Fast and Furious was over, you walked in the parking lot and all you heard was everyone revving their engines, and ppl looking to race someone else.I even saw occupants in mini vans asking ppl if they wanted to race.. Leaving the theater after 8 mile, you saw nothing but a bunch of different groups of young, white men/boys different ages (probably ages 12-25) in a cipher, each one getting their turn to free style. Britney Ever After is by far the worst movie you will ever see in your life. They did her so dirty. The actress didn’t look like her. Certainly didn’t act like her. Truly awful. Britney should sue.
Never heard of it now I want to see
@@iiC3QUEENxx it’s unacceptable how bad it was. It was made in 2017 and her fans were so excited, only to be extremely disappointed. Watch a review of it on RUclips. No redeeming qualities.
There's worse, actually. The Aaliyah movie, and the Michael Jackson movie where Flex Alexander played him and they just put white paint on him and he looked like an ashy clown?
@@flyleelee5351 I’ve seen two people review Britney Ever After and both of them said that the Aaliyah movie was bad, but the Britney movie was just a tad bit worse (just by an inch). It was unspeakably bad. I literally couldn’t finish it.
It's worth seeing just for the Britney/Justin break up dance off.
Jaime doesn't know me but her videos are the only thing keeping me out of the mental hospital rn, so thank you for giving your all so random ppl like me have a reason to go on hahaha. I love you sooooo much!
💜
Same ❤️
Uuuummm sis thats alot of responsibility to put on one single individual....especially one that you supposedly like. You should re evaluate that fam. Its not right. Wishing you all the best w that though.
@@SnozBerryQueen you ever heard of dramatic effect… read that part like a meme and get back to me. Sorry you thought I was genuinely putting my entire life into a RUclips channel lol. It’s a hyperbolic way of saying Jaime’s videos are important to me.
@@alltooleah got it. Thank god.
I miss the urban renaissance that was the 2000s. This, Coach Carter, and She’s The Man had me fantasizing about Channing Tatum for a good part of the decade LOL!
Same hahaha I had a huge crush on him haha
Yesss!!! 😅
I love She's The Man. Amanda Bynes was hilarious.
I loved that movie! I hope jaime reviews it. It would be soooooo funny
Can you please do Cruel Intentions???? 😃 the first one!
The way I grew up watching this movie and never once questioned it until your beautifully delivered, scathing commentary
Okay, massive fan of your movie reviews here, but this is by FAR, your best one yet! The humor cuts and the overall montage is hilarious! Thank you Jaime!!!!
It's rare that I actually audibly laugh watching videos but I do watching yours all the time. You rock! 🤣
I agree! The facts are particularly well-timed in this one lol
Love your videos Jamie! My first kiss was during the credits of Step Up in the movie theatre. Like the movie, it was disappointing and 80% pointless. Keep being awesome, love ya!
When she did the circle of life thing I died laughing so loud like a dieing moose echoing thru my house !! I flippin love her so much!!
😂 I am so glad we got some back breaking, fart inducing, floor squeaking silent dance scenes once more 😂 my absolute favs, I would love a compilation of them all !!!
That whole conversation with your bird was so wholesome and funny. You, Nick, and your bird are the perfect trio
Can we get some applause for that sweater toss from Jaime to Magic Mike?
i just started watching your videos and i absolutely love them, i would really love to see captions on your videos!
was laughing my ass off when you were doing the goofy dances but my jaw hit the floor when you tossed him the sweater🤯
"What is this a Def Noodles comedy show??" I was so caught off guard with that joke I choked on my beef stew, which proves how much better your comedy is compared to his. 😂😂 I would give anything to see you attend a Def comedy show. You'd kill it ❤❤ Random side note: I freakin' love your bird and his excellent manners.
11:12 Jamie dancing with Channing! 😂😂😂😂😂 I'm convinced this is real and I want to see more.
And here I thought this crappy day was going to sputter out like most weeknights but then a NEW JAIME FRENCH VIDEO!! Thank you Jaime for saving my week and adding joy to my long and tedious workdays.
I haven't seen this movie since I was 13 years old when it first came out, and even then, I didn't understand why it was so popular in 2006? I remember the movie's main theme song, Give It Up To Me by Sean Paul, and Keyshia Cole was also constantly playing on the radio, and so was the music video on this show I used to watch called 18 & Over on MUN2.
2006 what a time to be alive! Lol.
She's so entertaining I even watch her sponsorships✌🏽
When you are trying to do your physical therapy exercises but your can't hold a single position because you are cracking up at the latest Jaime French movie review. You are fabulous!!
One of my favorite ones is still the Spice World review-- that was just chef's kiss!
That rap improv was everything I needed today. 😂
lmfaoo that def noodles joke was spot on 😅 that sweater toss moment… you are KILLING IT!!!
The line "why in the acid reflux does he need that much orange juice" is the most underrated comedy line you ever created Jaime- you are a icon!!!
You’re the only RUclipsr I actively check to see if you’ve uploaded. Seriously love you and your sense of humor!!!
The step up movie series is one of my guilty obsessions 😅 I know they are bad but the dancing was so fun to watch. Thanks for covering a classic! 💖 only movie review channel I watch. Btw I also have cute birds 😇
I feel the same way! I love dancing movies even though yeah they are kinda cringe it’s still entertaining to watch, also I can’t dance so I live vicariously through them haha
@@packnetadaija OMG YES SAME HERE!! literally have no dance skills so I love watching these types of movies. Honey was a favorite of mine too. Also have seen every step up movie!
@@vaultgirl42091 honey was such a good movie! I know Jamie roasted the heck out of that movie last year but it’s still a good movie! I love the first 2 step up movies, I don’t remember the other ones. Also I loved save the last dance too haha
@@packnetadaijastep up 2 and step up 3 is the best
Currently depressed af and randomly came across your videos.. you’re just amazing 😂
I find myself looking forward to Jamie's movie reviews even more than my true crime go tos lately! Laughter is outstanding and you can't really do that when you're listening to a story about an entire family being murdered.... *Unless you're a psychopath* 💯
I was scrolling through my RUclips recommended and it had so much true crime on there from when I was watching alot of that. I saw Jamie's video and it was exactly what I needed!
I LOVE yur REACTIONS to these videos!! 💚💚
CAN YU PLZ DO "STEP UP THE STREETS" NEXT?!?!!
I seriously love the comedy you offer while doing these. I absolutely love it, idk how you dont have more subscribers.
Just finished rewatching Safiya Nygaard's lip gloss video and needed something else good to watch. This is perfect!
Girl we’re on the same algorithm 🤍
That is so weird because I literally just did that too! What a freaky Thursday huh 😅
@@darqneimark8079 😁 Yay us! 🤍

This made my day. I live in Florida in a relatively effected area by hurricane Ian and I had to work today at a restaurant. It was so hectic and I’m not feeling the greatest but I had enough service to watch this and I’m so thankful for everything I have.
I totally relate to that. I’m from Florida and we also lived through Katrina and heavier hurricanes as well. Cheering you on👍🏻
The funny thing is that those spinny jumps are actually really hard to do properly, then ten minutes later he acts like he can barely do any dance moves other than popping and locking.
10:27 I thought your rap was PERFECTION!! Please never stop making these.
I would watch you describing the world dictionary, you and your bird are so entertaining 😂
I love that you are just as mature as I am and put the fart noises when they dance or bend over or anything! I absolutely love it! ❤️ also you have cavity breath (walks away) living for it!!
🤣 I'm an old ass woman giggling like a kid. Idk why her fart noises are so funny to me. Maybe it's the perfect timing?
Your wit is so on point in this video! I love how every time you post, my daughter tells me "Mom, Jaime French posted a new video!" She loves you! Especially your vlogs. The other day I had to let her get some flamin' hot chips for our road trip...I said "oh you wanna try this bc Jaime French's Hot Cheetos song, huh?" Thanks for being a creator that both a 36 year old boomer and her 11 year old daughter can enjoy together. About to blow her mind and show her all your patreon videos. Happy Weekend!
It’s the revisited pelvic thrust and clapping at 14:48 for me. I laughed so violently, I wheezed and coughed and had to sit up.
This is one of your best movie reviews yet!! So funny!
"Put him in tights and he'll glow" that rap was amazing!
I am really going through a difficult period in my life. Your videos are the rare things that make me laugh until I can't breathe. Thank you so much for that. Thank you so so much. ❤
I actually own the entire 'Step Up' movie series on DVD and saw this in the theater; as much as much as my Channing Tatum crush used to make me biased, I can honestly say after the first watch I only ever looked at the movies for the dance scenes and skipped the "plot". It helped they put less effort into the plot with every sequel 😆
I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment but I really enjoy this series you do. I know creator’s don’t like to be pigeonholed into a genre, but you really excel at this. You are funny and your editing skills are great! I look forward to watching these videos you make. Keep up the good work and thank you for your content!
These are always so amazing. The birb conversation was perf!
Seeing you consult with your bird reminds me why I subscribed to you.
This was always one of my favourite movies as a kid and listen...I still have a soft spot for it😂😭 also, save the last dance is still a GREAT movie, but that might be my 9-year-old-girl bias coming through. Still though, I have to watch this review because I love you so much and your videos are my favourite thing on youtube❤
I LOVED save the last dance. I still love it to this day. No matter how cheesy
I feel the same way! I still watch this movie and am a huge Channing Tatum fan, but her video is absolutely hilarious 😂
Literally all dance movies are so great.
Moose was one of my first crushes 😭 I remember watching Step Up 2 and 3 and I was AMAZED at what an amazing dancer he was/is.😊
Yes I love step up and step up 2 and 3 is the best and the last one sad they didn’t make another one
I hope you never stop having your parrot make a cameo, because she is so goddang sweet and adorable. You guys make the best duo and make me so happy lol. The little gup gup thing really got me lol.
I’m glad your paytas and avocado videos brought me to your channel. Your videos get me through my morning drive and it’s nice to see someone doing something they enjoy on this website. I’m still new to your channel but I love your ads.
I know this movie has so many cringey moments and issues but man do I love it 🤣
I could also relate to wanting Jenna and Channing to stay together despite them being celebrities who will never know me haha
I unironically love Step Up 🥴
If it gave you this much fodder, then I NEED to see your review of my other favorite tween dance movie Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas.
Edit: Also, shocked, SHOCKED, that the requisite romantic rooftop scene wasn’t featured. 😂
Ummmmmmm take the lead was (may still be) my all time favorite dancing movie.
I unironically love it too, haha
[reluctantly raises hand] I too would like to join the "I Unironically Love Step Up" club. 🥴
RIP Skinny
Yesss. I second this request for take the lead! Its super cliche in all its glory cuz i secretly watched it manyyy many times
I completely forgot about Take the Lead lol. I used to watch it all the time. Jaime please review it! Lol
Channing Tatum, or as I call him, Chotum, is hard to take in movie length doses. Your review is 1000% the best way to get through this film and actually end up entertained. You’re awesome!
Chotum, omg, thank you 💀
He's weird towards Jonah hill so I'll take this.
Chotum...
Omg im cackling 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He shall now forever be Chotum in my mind, and that is awesome.
Hard to take in movie doses lmfaoo what do u even mean 😂😂
I literally belly laugh at every single one of your videos, you’ve pulled me out of dark places so many times. Thank you Jaime❤️
You crack me up! You should do the 1984 Night of the Comet!!
My first reaction to the title of the video was to say "Step Up makes you uncomfortable? Well YOU make me uncomfortable!" but I've never even seen a video of yours 😂 I will die for Step Up/Step Up 2
Oh my whenever life feels like too much Jamie comes to the rescue! I truly enjoy your videos Jamie! Ps. Pleeeease bring back your "'Member that" series I loved it 🙌
Oh Lord, you did not say Jncos! We wore the crap out of those in the 90s 🤣
It is so sad to watch this now! Jenna is cuteness personified. That whole Lip Sync Battle episode still seems like a fever dream 😳
Jncos still exist, but they're so fucking expensive!
Hats off to that smooth transition at 11:25 with the sweater 😂
Just found your videos recently-you’re hysterical
I loved this movie when it first came out. But I love you relaying it back to me with your sarcasm, edits and humour way, way, more! New Sub
Step up and Step up 2 and 3 is the best
Funny story, a friend of mine I went to cosmetology school with actually went to high school with channing tatum. She brought her yearbook one day to prove it, it was so wild 😂
Hands down the best movie review I have ever seen. 🙌 I. Am. Dead. If laughter is the best medicine, I am cured.
Always great when you marathon someone and get to cap it off with a new upload!
The Lion King cut scene had me rolling 🤣🤣 you're the best Jaime
I watched a bunch of your videos but your rap is what made me subscribe
Girl you’re a damn comedian!! I was laughing the whole time!! Love watching your movie reviews!
