To get the job, you audition (on a night that the bar is open by dancing on the bar by yourself), and you have to be employed for a month before you join the other girls in dance practice and get taught the choreographies. To no surprise, the movie exaggerated and changed quite a few things.
This reminds me of Spirits on Bourbon but they’re WAYYY more brutal. I went there for a bachelor party and someone bought the dude that got married their “speciality “ which is when where the guy- well or females as they can buy this as well- in a barber chair that’s in the middle of the bar and then the bartender pours a shot down his throat, slaps them and then grabs their head and slams in between their breasts and aggressively motorboats them basically. You may of seen it when a video went viral a few years ago of some woman coming up during a bartender doing this to someone and slapping her ass and the bartender turns around and slaps her for touching her and tells not to fucking touch her and gets her kicked out. Which is completely fine with me as some people and some females especially think it’s fine to just grab people, touch people sexually and it’s supposed to be fine because she’s a female . Those people need to learn. The woman that got slapped even acted shocked and like she was the victim without even taking into account that just because she’s a woman, she doesn’t get to just touch someone in a sexual matter without their consent
I think in the movie the owner just wanted to humiliate and play with Violet for her being so rude and that's why she "hired" her. I don't think that she genuinely thought that she could pull the whole choreo right off the bat.

My partner has hair down to his pelvis. He’s Native American and his hair is a huge part of his identity. So much so that we were in the grocery store one day and a woman offered him an absurd amount of money to take him to the salon and have them cut it so she could make a wig. His hair is nicer than most wigs I see. He wouldn’t do it. So if someone cut off his hair while it was in a pony.. I truly can’t say what would happen. I’d be pretty nervous for the person as it might cause him to lose a grip on reality.

If your a single mom, you have a very hard life . But I wish I would stayed single, I feel being in a relationship took away from time I could have spent with my child. Then they go off to college and believe me I thought about all the times I could have been spending time with my child, instead of worring about a social life which in a few years won't even matter. Enjoy discovering life thru the eyes of your children while their home. There will still be time for a social life after their raised. Just sharing from experience.

LeAnn Rimes did the vocal parts for Violet and essentially sang all those songs in the movie in Violet's voice. It was great how she adapted her usual vocal style to fit with Violet's character.
I always wanted a recording of "Don't Fight the Moonlight" the way it sounds in the movie, and could never find one. It's not a huge difference, but it's enough that it bugs me just a little.
CENTER STAGE, this movie has EVERYTHING! 90s Zoe Saldana, professional ballet dancers, melodrama, bad acting, an mid movie dance workout scene to a Red Hot Chili Peppers song, and this review from rotten tomatoes “embarrassingly enjoyable” 10/10
You should do “She’s all that!” with Freddie Prinze and Rachel Leigh Cook! They are remaking it next year unfortunately 😭 Like can we just get a couple more decades out of a movie before you remake it please?! Lol

You could never imagine my disappointment when I went to a Coyote Ugly bar in my city and it was the LAMEST bar I’ve ever been to. Not a SINGLE river dance style number and they served me a water no questions asked.
They have one about 20 minutes from me in Ybor city and they actually did dance on the bar! I think it was like every hour on the hour. And no joke, they looked like they had the same wardrobe director as this movie. Also there were hundreds of bras hanging from the ceiling.
I went to one in New Orleans with my sisters once and WE had to be the ones dancing on the bar. It was deader than a door nail when we walked in but we were having so much fun other people walking by started coming in 😹
I’m super shook to the whole “hOw aM i GoNnA mAkE $250 dOlLaRs??” Thing bc I’m a bartender, have been for 15 years(stay in school people) and that bar she works at is packed all the time…she would literally make that much in one shift. Not even a full shift at that bar would bring her more than what she needs to pay her boss back lmao.
Right? I was a bartender throughout my 20s. There's a reason I continued doing it and even now in my 30s am comfortable knowing that's always my fallback if my current career ever comes to a halt. If she's not making more than $250 a shift in that kind of place, she's not doing her job right.

The Coyote Ugly sequence in It's Always Sunny makes SO MUCH more sense now that I've seen Dee make an appearance in this movie... Also realizing that Sunny hadn't even aired until 5 years after this movie was released has convinced me that Kaitlin Olson solidified this persona for Dee before it was ever meant to exist.

I love your humor Jaime. It’s light hearted humor. When I was in 5th grade, my teacher made each of us write a poem. She gave us 1/2 hour to write it, then collected them and read them aloud. Similar to your humor, she jokingly ripped our poems to shreds. The class was in tears from laughing so hard. I never will forget that. I will say there was one hole in the wall bar near times square called Rudy's we went to one time probably 10 years ago. Bar was amazing and dirt cheap. They had a hot dog grill behind the bar and you got free hot dogs while you were drinking and there were two older Italian guys that basically lived there and would order pizza straight to the bar. Good times!

You could never imagine my disappointment when I went to a Coyote Ugly bar in my city and it was the LAMEST bar I’ve ever been to. Not a SINGLE river dance style number and they served me a water no questions asked.

They have one about 20 minutes from me in Ybor city and they actually did dance on the bar! I think it was like every hour on the hour. And no joke, they looked like they had the same wardrobe director as this movie. Also there were hundreds of bras hanging from the ceiling.

I’m super shook to the whole “hOw aM i GoNnA mAkE $250 dOlLaRs??” Thing bc I’m a bartender, have been for 15 years(stay in school people) and that bar she works at is packed all the time…she would literally make that much in one shift. Not even a full shift at that bar would bring her more than what she needs to pay her boss back lmao.
Right? I was a bartender throughout my 20s. There's a reason I continued doing it and even now in my 30s am comfortable knowing that's always my fallback if my current career ever comes to a halt. If she's not making more than $250 a shift in that kind of place, she's not doing her job right.
I was thinking the same thing, I started working in restaurants at 15/16 (I’m 31 now) and making $250 at even a moderately busy restaurant/ bar was definitely possible 15 years ago. Pretty sure I made that in a night a couple times at the crappy restaurant I waitressed at.

Also realizing that Sunny hadn't even aired until 5 years after this movie was released has convinced me that Kaitlin Olson solidified this persona for Dee before it was ever meant to exist.
fan theory: same universe and that actually was Dee visiting NYC, not just Kaitlin Olson playing a (pretty similar) role.

I love your humor Jaime. It’s light hearted humor. When I was in 5th grade, my teacher made each of us write a poem. She gave us 1/2 hour to write it, then collected them and read them aloud. Similar to your humor, she jokingly ripped our poems to shreds. The class was in tears from laughing so hard. I never will forget that. Helped us learn that a little teasing is OK and not all the work we always do is going to be 100% amazing to everyone :)

They had a hot dog grill behind the bar and you got free hot dogs while you were drinking and there were two older Italian guys that basically lived there and would order pizza straight to the bar.
