A phone about the size of the iPhone 6/6S/7/8 needs to have a reasonably thin but still protective case. I'd recommend the Spigen Ultra Hybrid, which in my case doesn't make my iPhone X too bulky to use.

I’d absolutely love it if they brought an SE 2 out, currently on the SE and love it, I’ve also used an iPhone X but it broke so I bought a SE and actually preferred it
The lack of a cabled charging port could be a problem on long motorcycle trips. For example, the inability to charge on-the-go will negate the ability to use the ‘phone’s sat-nav/Google maps due to the amount of power these eat.

I think it's great . I just wish it still had the original chassis of the 1st gen SE .
I honestly think that talking about the limitations of wireless charging with regards to Apple removing the lightning port only makes sense once it happens. Only then we will actually know what limitations there actually still are. Right now, we can only speculate even though we simply can’t know what improvements will be made in the coming 2 or 3 years or so. I personally don’t need USBC on my iPhone, but I can understand why others want it. And also: “The future is wireless”, it truly is. In my opinion of course.
I kinda like the iphone se 2, old design didnt bother me much. As long as the spec is updated to the latest 😍
I just hope that it feels premium unlike the 11 compared to the 11 pro and pro max, I held the 11 and it just felt like a hollow plastic toy compared to the 11p & pmax which felt sturdy, firm, and actually had some weight
That being said I am immensely excited to see the older design again and can now keep my home button unfortunately there’s no 3D Touch, not that I use it a lot but still will miss it

Always good and relevant info, also looks and sounds great. Thank you. My only other comment is to ask that you slow down your delivery. Many of the technical terms that you use are just a blur.

They should just keep wireless charging as an optional feature for now. I like to use my phone when it’s charging and with wireless that wouldn't be possible Not to mention if your out and about finding wireless charging will be like finding a needle in a haystack

@evergreenpenguin Apple pay was introduced in 2014, only in 2019 did my country start to support Apple pay (New Zealand). That said, many other countries also don't support Apple pay eg. S. Korea, Vietnam, Qatar etc. .Wireless is a completely different story, it's probably only going to be a thing in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France and possibly other European countries such as Estonia, Denmark, Norway etc. (basically just the smaller, developed ones).
The small group where Apple holds a significant share of the mobile market isn't the world, likely it's going to be Samsung pushing it to the world which still would take many years to come. Not to mention, if you're a frequent flyer then this would become a major gripe for you seeing that there's basically no way they're ever going to introduce wireless charging in economy.
Personally I think it's a ridiculous idea, but knowing that Apple shares are getting smaller and smaller in regions where they're outlandishly expensive, Apple probably doesn't see this as much of a risk due to their main buyers being in the US.
I'd argue Samsung is the one that drives tech as well, due to the fact that they're reaching more places with SamsungPay to encourage their larger market share to grow in economies outside of NA & Europe, to the dominant population of the world in Asia

I keep hearing that portless = wireless and that is not true! I think Apple could go portless but introduce a MagSafe version for the iPhone that can transmit power and data quickly like current wires but it’s technically portless! This is the transition necessary before a completely wireless future

Apple have missed the point. Everyone bought the SE because of its size. The internal upgrades were just a bonus. SE2 won’t have that desirability.

Of course it’ll be a success. All of my friends and family have been waiting for a worthy update from the iPhone 7. This will be the perfect form factor as well as the right size; fingerprint scanner is a must have feature 🤞🏻

The only problem with calling the 2020 se the “iphone 9” is that it cant get an upgrade after. So naming wise they’d call it 9 one year and then revert back to calling it se2 or change it to the se3 a few years down the road? That naming is purely stupid.
They either ditch the se brand completely or they keep the name as se. Both could still happen tho. So 2020 might be the last se phone then after wards there wouldnt be any further refreshes.

Its not like a watch. where the device is coming into contact with water several times a day, so the waterproofing has to be robust and long lasting.
Phone manufactures DON'T include water damage from leaks in their warranty.
The adhesives used lose their integrity over time, Its only there as a selling point.
So i dont think they'll get rid of the port for the sake of water resistance.

The completely wireless iphone could still have a cord with a magnetic connection where the lightning port would usually be but it would still be magnetic wireless charging but it wouldn’t go into the phone.

O_o For me, it wouldn’t be a downgrade, cause I’m on the SE. Ha. I do like the 11, so I would like that, although it’s a lot bigger and bulkier to carry around. The size is what I really like with the SE, and the price point is what I really like. When given the option to upgrade I would probably choose the 11 or 12 if price isn’t an issue. Although I’ve got to say I’ve been waiting for the SE 2 for a few years, I would say the features of the newer models, including the cameras, have really enticed me, and the new 12 sounds really nice!

I think also, that there are WAY too many accessories that take advantage of the Lightning port for Apple to abandon. Besides, USB-A to Lightning cables are not that expensive if you want good ones such as the Anker Powerline series (I use them and they work fabulously on my iPhone X and 10.5" iPad Pro).
