  • In this video I go over the process of running the manual calibration for flow dynamics and flow rate on my Bambu P1S. You can perform this process every time you get a new filament brand, or any time you want to ensure you are getting the best print quality. Not sure if the second stage of flow rate tuning is needed, but it's really up to you. Thanks for watching and subscribe please!

    One question; would we be best off to rerun these tests in a specific order for each new filament? For instance: calibrate nozzle temp, then K, then rate, or some other order?

    You missed the start of the selection of how you set what material. Did you select Bambu PLA Basic or Generic PLA?

    • @PrintPractical
      @PrintPractical  8 месяцев назад

      Sorry, didn’t realize that. I use generic PLA, as I wasn’t using Bambu branded PLA. I probably wouldn’t even run the calibration if I was using Bambu filament, as they should have it pretty well tuned already. Though, if you want to compensate for nozzle wear or old filament etc, it wouldn’t hurt.

    Thanks for the video. I'm confused by the 2nd calibration. Since in calibration 1 you chose block 5, shouldn't calibration 2 be printing 0 through 9 rather than -9 through 0?

    • @bonovoxel7527
      @bonovoxel7527 8 месяцев назад

      I answered myself that it makes no difference since those +- values are "arbitrary", the printer does manage them. So no difference in being presented a 0 -9 scale instead of a -5 -5 as I expected too.

    Doing this now on my P1S. What is confusing to me is the Flow Dynamics K Value. It looks like it is saved under the system present "Generic X". How do you get that K value associated with the new User Preset with the flow rate number?

    • @TylerCoyote
      @TylerCoyote 10 месяцев назад

      I had this same issue, and found that if you make a preset first, then reboot Bambu Studio it will see your preset and you can apply the values to that preset. For some reason it doesn't read the preset if you make it and then go straight to testing, you have to reboot the program. I've got presets for different brands etc.@@PrintPractical

      Right now there is a bug that has a ticket open in the GitHub as filaments do not save k value. You have to input it Everytime so might be best practice to write it on the spool or a sticky note on the AMS

    • @PrintPractical
      @PrintPractical  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey, you’re doing just fine! There’s nothing really more complicated than the A1, just some extra options for fine tuning. I rarely run filament calibrations unless I’m trying to perfect the quality of the resulting print. Many times I just use the generic profile from Bambu slicer and it just works.

    • @TylerCoyote

      I've found that doing variable layer height has been extremely helpful for overhangs. I'm also in the process of fiddling with a custom preset that will run the part cooling fan at 100% during all overhangs and bridges to see if that helps since PLA always needs cooling.

    I'm having some issues with the calibration if anybody might have some knowledge.
    I'm using the basic orange PLA that came with the P1S. I did the flow dynamics, and the best line looked like 0.15 or 0.20. In the end I chose 0.15.
    Now when I went to the flow rate and did the first part of the calibration, ALL of my models looked terrible to say the least. I didn't bother continuing to do the second part of the flow rate since they were all so bad.
    I've printed 3 models before doing this calibration and for the most part, they came out perfect (Basic PLA and PLA Matte, both BambuLabs). So I'm kind of confused how after doing half of the calibration, that it's worse than before...
    Should I restart from the beginning and redo the flow rate? Choose 0.20 this time..?
    Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

      You will want to do this for each new brand or type of filament you introduce as best practice, however the brands that already have profiles in Bambu Studio do not require this. That being said, if you aren't really experiencing issues with a stock profile then it isn't necessary unless you enjoy it.

The Automatic Calibration for Flow Rate on Textured PEI Plate is not supported, and it's not recommend performing the Flow Calibration on it, to avoid print quality issues. The texture of the plate can interfere with the LIDAR calibration resulting in bad calibration results.
