Hey Sterling. What I like about your style of riding is you are respectful to the land and the animals you encounter. Watched another BDR channel the other day and the guys acted like a bunch of 15 year olds on a drunk bender. Chasing the wild horses on the road, busting up cattle herds etc.. You're responsible and it doesn't go UN-noticed. Great video's as you always do! Stay safe out there on that 1200 beast.
Wow, great stuff again. I was in Bouse about a month ago. This episode is so many short videos that although they may represent 10-15 seconds, I know they took you 10--15 minutes or more to execute. When I take a scenic ride, I always wish I had more photos, but I think about the difference between a road trip on a MC or in a car. In the car, you just pull off the road, lean out the window, aim and POOF, you have your picture. On a motorcycle you have to deal with soft shoulders of the road, getting your kickstand solid, taking off your gloves, setting up your tripod or worse yet getting your drone in the air and then shoot the video and return and reverse everything just said. Repeat 25 times for an 8 min. video. Lay your MC down in soft terrain because you turned the front wheel too sharp. Been there, done that!! This is pro quality video work. Thanks.
Its kinda funny talking about U2 and their Joshua Tree album and how that kinda dates you. I just turned 50 last month and I really don't feel like I think a 50 year old should feel. I still want to go on huge adventures and buy all sorts of cool toys and chase all the pretty girls around 😁
I love the high desert. A friend and I spent ten days camping and rock climbing in Joshua Tree in the mid 80s. It was a National Monument back then and we had the place almost to ourselves. The sky was the deepest blue every day and there was a constant 30 MPH wind. At night, I'd lie on the sun baked sand as the desert air cooled. The night sky had no light pollution and almost no humidity. The Milky Way was a bright band across the sky and the view was so clear that I had vertigo, feeling as if I was falling up into the sky.
Excellent camera work, great B-roll adding to an all-around sensation - as if we were directly with you on the road. Thanks for a good start into the new day, Günter/Nürnberg PS: I remember that U2 album well ;-)
I had to convert from F to C to realize how hot that was. Scorching hot! If anyone's wondering, that sweet guitar music which starts at 04:00 is SunRise by Northside. Beautiful video! Thanks Sterling.
Dumont dunes? I thought you lost your mind taking ur big bikes into them high sand dunes. Stopping by Tepoca for some hot spring water heals any aching muscles.
Petrichor is the word you're looking for. Definition: a distinctive, earthy, usually pleasant odor that is associated with rainfall especially when following a warm, dry period and that arises from a combination of volatile plant oils and geosmin released from the soil into the air and by ozone carried by downdrafts.
Rode Death Valley a couple weeks ago, out of so. Cal, light rain on the Cajon at dawn, but the wind out of baker was brutal. Overnight in Pahrump then 190 across the valley still a little cool out there, but it was a beautiful ride. Waiting for the storm to clear, hope the catch the desert bloom in anza borego, ride safe brother.
Sterling, love the videos. Keep pumping them out. Also appreciate you're great attitude about dropping the bike. It's something everyone does, and too many people just freak out about. I'll be out in AZ later in March doing a trip to Oatman and into CA, so hopefully we can get together for a ride and a beer
Another great episode. Thanks for all the effort and expertise you share. You are always a motivator for one to get out there and experience motorcycle travel.
I really enjoyed the humbling shot when the bike went down in the sand. I also like to include that in my videos, as it doesn't get more real then that! Very cool drone establishing shot at 3:57! The desert is extremely beautiful in it's own way!
Rode my R1200 GSA from Washington state to the Mexico border in 2020 during Covid. Dropped it playing around in the Dumont Dunes also 😜! Enjoy your trip!
Wonderful little video. Nothing like having to pick up a bigger bike alone. On my V-Strom, I appreciate the big metal boxes for only allowing the bike to fall so far. Can't wait for the next video.
Watching this guy film and share his adventures is better than watching National Geographic and NG puts out a helluva show. I was riding a 84 Yamaha 750 seca when U2 famous album came out. Good vibes
Great Video, photography off the charts, I did that route but in reverse coming from CA on a KLR, I had never heard of bouse, until riding through it. Desert rain smell is the best! Enjoyed the ride, thank you.
Thank you Sterling for that. I have never experienced a desert in the rain. That is something I must experience as well as a desert ride on a warm summer night.
Great stuff! I appreciate your candid approach in this series. Whether it's dropping the bike in the sand, showing your campsite that's not all staged and perfect looking, or simply stopping to set up camera shots and then returning to get the camera, it just is what it is, and that's the reality of these types of journeys, and I think this sets a better set of expectations for those inspired to go on adventures of their own! Looking forward to future episodes!
Thanks! There's a lot more of that coming on this trip. I try to find the sweet spot between making things "look perfect" and the true reality of what happens.
So much work (although I know you think of it as part of the adventure) to put these videos together! It pays off for us who get to enjoy them - Thank you!
Sterling Great video as always!!! I have a trick for you. You have to pass the male of the RokStraps through the hole that it has at the end, and then close it and adjust it. This way it doesn't go loose all the way. Try it and tell me. I use the big ones and the small ones on my motorcycle.
Love all your videos including all BDR films you had produced. I am planning a solo mid west tripe with my R1250 GSA not sure when? UT soon, Love the music in this film, would you be able to share the title of the music? Thanks.
There are five different pieces of music in the video. They all come from EpidemicSound.com. Check it out and listen I'm sure you can find them in there. Cheers!
As always, nice video. I appreciate your cooking skills while Moto camping. I tend to make much simpler fair. However, with your cooking equipment and video equipment, you pack amazingly well. Last big trip I took, Bama to Big Bend to Telluride and back through Missouri then South. I sent stuff home 3 times, and threw away least expensive stuff several times. But it all comes with experience.
Thank you - and just so you know I typically send stuff home too on a big trip like this, and pick up a few new things along the way. It's an ever evolving process. People often don't think about sending stuff home or purchasing things along the way - you don't have to pack "once" for a long trip.
That smell is called Petrichor. Question - if you have no phone signal out in the desert, what do you do if you break down ? Not a problem in our small UK !
Hey as new new camper, or Ridder what kind odf safety step o should take when sleeping outside in wilderness. Thank u in advance. By the way the channel is great, and tought me alot.
Love your videos! 2 things: there was a time when I would race around on my Yamaha 250 dirt bike, biff it, quickly snatch it up, jab the Kickstarter and take off. Try that on my BMW K1600! You still wear full gear even when it’s 115. Does it get unbearable? How do you stay cool enough?
Its some kind of LowePro photo bag, a BP model... If I was in a real downpour I would use the provided cover for it. A bigger problem is the zipper, which is prone to collecting dust and becoming a point of failure. I had one for 20 years without a problem but this new one failed by the end of the trip.

Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. I love it too.
Gotta compliment your music selections in the video. Nice touch that adds a subliminal yet high quality to the story.
“Where the streets have no name.” Yes Indeed!
That desert smell during/just after a rain is great.
I can’t believe that this were just about 8 minutes!?! Full of information and as entertaining as an 1h movie. Great video, excellent job! 👍
Making the desert look cool - hard to do for most people - well done Sterling !!
He must be a very experienced rider.
Excellent video -- thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see what happens next.
i'm really enjoying every installment of your journey. Perfect for February watching.

Your videos are crisp and short which is really gentle and convenient for viewers ❤

We absolutely love your videos! 🏆
Really liking this journey...thank you for sharing!
Like for the U2 reference.
My favorite spot! Good times.
Mind is now relaxing seeing the brother riding video after whole stressful day. Thank you brother ride safe.
Excellent choice on the music, Sterling.
Thank you Sterling. Best visual storytelling!
Excellent camera work, great B-roll adding to an all-around sensation - as if we were directly with you on the road. Thanks for a good start into the new day, Günter/Nürnberg PS: I remember that U2 album well ;-)
Loving your videos mate. As a videographer I can appreciate how much effort you've put into make these.

Beautiful video! Thanks Sterling.
I just went through Joshua Tree with my daughter and pulled up the U2 album on Spotify. Added another great memory to all the others those songs hold.
Cool, nice to hear that!
Living the dream!
Love it! Thanks for sharing. That's god's country out there. Nothing like it.
Dumont dunes? I thought you lost your mind taking ur big bikes into them high sand dunes. Stopping by Tepoca for some hot spring water heals any aching muscles.
I agree, dirt bike riding in the desert after a rain the smells are so clean and fresh.
Sterling
Fantastic video as usual. THIS is my FIX! I can't wait until April 5th!!
Ride SAFE and BE safe!
Cheers
Right on!

I love nothing more than my "Soul-o" trips on my bike or in my Land Cruiser. Really enjoying this series, Sterling.
Love these, Sterling! Thank you so much!

“Ride where the roads have no name.” Very good 👍🏻
Another great episode. Thanks for all the effort and expertise you share. You are always a motivator for one to get out there and experience motorcycle travel.
First tip over. Haha. Good to get that one out of the way ! Thanks for sharing. Ride on ! 👍🏽
You bet

That monopod setup is brilliant.
Rode my R1200 GSA from Washington state to the Mexico border in 2020 during Covid. Dropped it playing around in the Dumont Dunes also 😜! Enjoy your trip!
Howdy I’m watching this great episode hunkered down outta the wind in the desert, near Bouse lol.
Just put your loose straps into the panniers and close the lid. No flopping!
thanks for the roadmovie, to be honest iam a bit jealous because of the landscape. "But I still havent found what i am looking for......."
Love the content footage is fabulous keep it up, would love to do a trip like this.😎
Wonderful little video. Nothing like having to pick up a bigger bike alone.

You would not regret it.
I tell my wife all the time, the petrichor smell in the desert is something you never forget.

@Jeff Greenspon love it!
We rode from Fresno to Vegas in 116 degree heat, just barely got to Vegas, almost passed out. Would not recommend.
But where is the kitchen sink? :) Thanks for sharing.

So you're like Itchy boots channel, man! Do you go around the world, too?
Not as much anymore. I did that 2000-2010 quite a bit.
Mate love the videos as always but there’s just not enough! More time!
Working on it!
I feel like we need to start a GoFundMe to get you a new set of gloves!
The Mojave was a fave ride for me/
