First time across the deserts between Death Valley and PCH brought me to tears of joy. I was stuck by the beauty, the tenacity of the plants and animals. Ridiculously hot often well over 120 degrees and incredible sustained crosswinds in many places. Loved it. Hope to be back in 2024
The 450 is an excellent choice for the more challenging BDR routes and much more forgiving in the sand. Give up some range and road worthiness but worth it. Thanks for sharing.
Great video! Just one suggestion - include more of the banter between yourself and the other riders. These rides are as much about the comradery of the group as they are about the journey, so sharing some of the jibber jabber would make these ride videos even more engaging.
Tell me you're a kid of the 90s without telling me you're a kid of the 90s...."Holy Shnikey". 😂 I totally forgot about this phrase until your channel and it makes me feel nostalgic or maybe just old! Haha!
Nice gloves. I like the free ones they hand out to us at Boeing. Several different ones. I like someof the gloves fir riveting. They are well padded on the palm. Absorb the high vibrations very well.
I used to ride jaw bone canyon in the late 70’s Also used to ride the isdt qualifiers Out of California city hotel One year there was 8” to 18” of snow all over the 165 mile course we raced on Had a wonderful time racing with malcom smith dick burelson al baker drew smith chris carter to name a few Engineers should have designed the wind mills to look like Joshua trees
Great Drive, where you're guy started, I will like to had out there a party, perfectly Meditation, out of LA Traffic, please let me know how to get this Perfection...
Love your videos. But watching you and listening to you, riding in the desert, is so funny for ex desert racer. In the sand, you need to almost sit on the rear finder, and the faster you can go, the better, like tapped out. On down hills on the balls of your feet heels down and sit back, at times all 4 working brakes, throttle and clutch.
I’ve ridden most of that, on separate rides, on XR650L and GS…DR should be fine with good off road tires. If you do get up that way, check out Piute Mountain area…either up Jawbone Canyon road or Piute Mountain road. Really nice up there with some decent camping.
I loved the Joshua Tree National Monument back in the 1980s, before it became a National Park with more visitors. The high desert is a magical place. I'll never forget lying on the sun warmed sand as the 100+ heat of the day quickly gave way to chilly night temperatures due to the radiative cooling. I'd lie on the warm sand in the cool night air and stare up into a sky so clear that I experienced vertigo, feeling as though I was falling up into the stars. Sadly, I can never go back, because it's California, behind enemy lines. I'm planning a motorcycle trip to the Sonoran Desert in Arizona, southeast of the Mojave Desert, hoping it'll have some high desert charm of its own.

"There's Ian and a tree, it's Treean" You're such a wordsmith! lmao
Nice video. I’ve been riding in Jaw bone canyon since the 1980's.
Love it except for the Wind.
Magnificent ride. Love that countryside. 🙌
Idaho riding right now is so killer. Perfect weather. Thanks for sharing your ride.
I was dorking out. Love it.
How nice is that view!!!! Awesome!
Fantastic ride man. Looks fun. Still looks hot up there.
Definitely is more scenic on the counterclockwise route! We did it clockwise last year

Love these videos and the scenery

Great ride! Joshua trees are in fact Yuccas. Yucca Brevifolia.

Looked like it was fun.

Awesome video! never hesitate!!! i'm not a botanist but i did sleep at a holiday inn express last night 😂
That is some good music.
Great video. Riding in my neck of the woods …
Dork you're an Oregon boy. Do you like the desert riding or our forests that we have here? I love the trees personally.
Nice gloves. I like the free ones they hand out to us at Boeing. Several different ones. I like someof the gloves fir riveting. They are well padded on the palm. Absorb the high vibrations very well.
I never met a shnikey, let alone a holy one. Awesome Ben.
"Please consider subscribing (burp)", 15:51 haha yes I caught that
That's what I'm slowly learning. Let the bike be a bike, you just kind of point it in the direction.
Yucca brevifolia is a Joshua Tree. Yucca schidigera is the Mojave Yucca. They are both species of the yucca genus, so those are indeed Yucca trees.
Very cool video, man. Are you using the ECU in conjunction with a throttle tamer?
Carefull down there. Just saw on news 10 people killed in shoot out in Baja.
You know this is not filmed in Baja, right?

Hi mr dork in the road sr
I was wondering how the brozz 250 would handle that ride ???
If you make sure all the nuts and bolts are tight ????
It could do it but you'd have to go a lot slower.
@Dork in the Road thanks dude 🙏 👍 😀 🙌
I was hoping you would say it would ive been dieing to get a brozz 250 OD GREEN RECON
New T Shirt idea: "I like big ruts and I cannot lie."

I think you forgot that link to the Alpinestars gloves…
I wonder how a DR650 would compare in comfortability?
I’ve ridden most of that, on separate rides, on XR650L and GS…DR should be fine with good off road tires. If you do get up that way, check out Piute Mountain area…either up Jawbone Canyon road or Piute Mountain road. Really nice up there with some decent camping.

Looks like maybe a CRF300L as well?
Joshua trees there.
Sold my crf450rl recently because I just can’t stay off my Africa Twin! Just don’t want to ride anything else.
sounds like you have a real sand phobia?
Seems like I’ve seen this already?
What ECU do you have and what is the new gas mileage?
AIM ECU, 42ish
Not yucca that I'm confident of
