I was starting to think you fell off the face of the earth. I was bummed to miss this trip. Great work documenting the trip. Stay safe out there, my friend!
Quality is S++ lol. Awesome video Alan! Too bad I wasn't able to make it! I always wanted to go to this trail... Hopefully I can join you guys. Keep safe brother! Nice to see you back and making videos!
Too kind bro! It was a lot of fun. We were lucky we missed the heatwave in the desert. Most days were 90s-low 100s. Any hotter and I'm looking towards the mountains. 😉. We do need to get some trips organized huh? We are all out doing trips, might as well coordinate some together. Thanks for your support as always, Kevin.
I used to run this trail all the time in my 93 Toyota pickup back in the 90's using paper maps. It is great east/west and west/east. Lots to explore. Make sure to check out the Paymaster Mine in the mountains just west of Kelbaker Rd.
Reaaly great video. Loved the commentary. As I see it the fuel pump went out on that narrow road after leaving Ft. Piute, and had to be towed back to U.S. 95? I am aware that tow trucks will not go more than 50 yards off pavement, so if this had happened to me going solo, I would have had to wait for a Good Samaritan to tow me back to 95. Glad that you mentioned the bypass at Watson Valley.
Thank you! It is confirmed to be the fuel pump and he is back on the roads! Our meetup spot was perfect for the tow truck to pull into and recover the LX. Nice flat packed dirt section next to some paved roads. I wouldn't have the guts to go solo in the desert for too long. At least not without a rescue plan! Appreciate you enjoying the content ☺️.
@@BorderlineExplorer For sure! I've done Gold Mountain twice now--super fun trail and challenging. Have you watched Kevin's Gold Mountain Video where he, Ray with MP Trailgroup and myself did Gold Mountain?
We just completed the Mojave Rd this week. It was a great trip. We were looking forward to driving Watson’s wash and never saw it. Do you happen to have its coordinates for next time?
Fun Video to watch but much of the history is missed. The trail doesnt and never has ended s at Afton canyon. It was a government road with army post and patrols along the way to protect travelers between Ft Mojave and Fort Cady - about to 15 miles SW of Afton. Knowing that the trails were the original and only roads from New Mexico and Arizona to Los Angeles and the history of the places, the battles fought along the way and the men who served along the roads will completely change the way one views trip. Winfield Hancock, one of the hero's of Gettysburg and defenders of Picketts charge on Little Round Top was in charge of the garrisons and Ft Cady and the patrols along the road to protect water sources will inform ones paradigm and change the way the trail is viewed. Most of the battles between the Union forces and the "California Volunteers" - who guarded the trail during the civil war - and the Native American tribes were fought between Afton and Cady.
Couldn’t help but notice the drone footage. Maybe somebody already mentioned it but drones are illegal in the preserve. Heavy fines if caught. Other than that, nice job. We’re looking forward to driving the road in a week or two.

Hey Nate! Glad you could join us on this one. First time I've ever seen an Envoy run like that!!
Great channel! Thank you!!
I didn’t know you had your real estate license. You almost had me sold on the shack. Kidding aside, another great video that was worth waiting for.
You like bees? I've got just the house for you.
@@BorderlineExplorer ha. I like honey.
Pleasure meeting you ! Can’t wait for more trips !
It's always a surprise when someone approaches me in the wild. Hahaha you guys are SD based right? Where do you wheel in the summertime?

Great video, Alan! Will have to join you guys one day along with Kevin (Kjorgensen ).
You know it. Aha we might all meet up on Gold Mountain one day. Or something like this. Feature packed, fun exploration outdoors is fun too.

@@4122inc yeah!! You guys are awesome! Seems like y'all always up for a challenge!
That was a good video. Hey, where was the spot that was safe and legal for shooting range? That looks like a fun addition to a trek across there.
Did the same trip in May 2021 for my 60th birthday. left a big orange/red rock on travelers monument.
Thanks for the vid.
Awesome!!
Thanks Mac! Many trips to come.

Planning on going to Mojave this weekened. Where is it allowed to shoot out there? 38:21
Morn do you still have the cords for that mining area with the red soil? Great vid!
Thanks! Yeah!! Check your Instagram, brother.

So Im planning to do this trail in the spring 2023. Did you run it east to west, or west to east? Where did you enter the trail?
We made a poorly equipped, rushed one night run through ,out of the trail last year but after watching this I have to do it again.
Way too many people. I overland to get away from the crowds. You might as well overland on the 101 with that many people.

Do you believe it is possible to complete the Mojave road with a full size SUV such as Chevy Tahoe?
Going country! Lol
Sneak some in.
Toyota towed by a Jeep. It must be a Jeep thing.....
Kidding aside, great video. Thank you.
I thought I was watching morr at first 😂
Sorry Robert L we were not meant to outlive our children 😢
