Maybe they wanted to keep the ending a secret because you wouldn't hear that part while playing (well, most likely not), but yea they did preview the worst part
necessary discrepancy is like 1000x better than the preview let on. definitely a 10/10 for me. not being able to read the lyrics also hurt a lot of these scores. the lyrics turn Leo's theme from a 7/10 to a 10/10 for me.

Ram’s theme out of all of them feels the most like we need to hear more of. It feels like we got like 10 seconds of buildup and nothing else
I loved the woman's vocals in the first part, but when the male vocals came in, it was a bit lack luster.
Ramlethal and Axl themes feel like they put the most linear part of the song so you don't get a lot to work with

The section they let us hear wasn't really that great considering what her theme is probably gonna sound like.
Knowing how much of a journey Faust's theme is, I'm not prepared to judge any of them based on 15 sec clips.
Imo while the male vocals don't do much for it, the female vocals sound awful and way too reminiscent of the more bland, generic themes from RWBY.

Faust's theme isn't done justice in those 10-15 seconds. It has a bunch of transformations through it and ending in such a triumphant fashion for a character like Faust is super impactful imo. Easily the best theme in the game due to its complexity.
I'm sure the rest of the tracks we haven't heard yet have a lot of similar compositional techniques. It's not really fair to compare snippets to full tracks

Zato's theme sounds like its about to go into a gnarly breakdown right as they cut it off.
It's so much better in full. Like, that part out of context sounds lame, but the rest of the song is amazing. Lots of these snippets don't show the good bits.

Really curious to hear Millia's full theme.
The thing I think about alot is how Milia's and Zato's snippets have a sort of back and forth.

@@CreationsFlare idk much about the gg lore but they were a couple at some point right?
@@Setteri_ It's weird. The best way I could put it is that they cared for each other deeply during their time in the Assassin Guild, and both had a similar fate of having to deal with forbidden beasts.
Zato however, drunk on the power of Eddie despite losing his vision for it, rises to power in the Assassin Guild and becomes it's leader. Super corrupt, but super powerful.
Milia deals with the guilt of all of this and sought to kill him, which she does manage to do.
Zato, dying and coming back to life because he was experimented on, doesn't really exist anymore. Eddie primarily feasts on Zato's corpse, but faint glimmers of Zato's memory peek though, like his need to protect Milia.
But yeah, at this point, Eddie is in control of Zato for the most part, which is why his theme is so wild and heavy. Meanwhile Milia has to also deal with the reincarnated Zato of whom she killed, which is why her theme rocks power but also seems to be in her own tug of war of what to do with keeping him alive, again.

@@Setteri_ Millia and Zato were a couple in the past, but it was more of a "stockholm syndrome" deal with Zato being the one who took Millia into the guild when she was an orphan. Him being super corrupt with power after getting Eddie, on top of being super manipulative and controlling of Millia when they were a couple (iirc he was the one who coaxed her into getting her Forbidden Beast) was part of the reason Millia turned on him, chose to leave the guild, and swore to kill him and Eddie.

I'll gladly admit that the song is perfect for her. If I had to guess who that song belonged to in the cast, without a shadow of a doubt I would say May.
I don't dislike may as a character, and I really enjoy her other themes. I'll give it a couple proper listens at least.

I dont feel right judging entire songs by 10 second snippits. I know we judge things way before release based on scraps all the time in the FGC but music aficionados we are not.

Some of us are music aficionados, but we should know not to fully judge based on snippets. At least Max recognized this, and admitted things could change with full versions.
If you go back to character trailers, you'll hear a super sick opening riff in Leo's theme that's not here.
Armor - Clad Faith defines Potemkin as a character so well it's just amazing.And Play The Hero just so damn catchy,totaly can see it sticking in my playlist for months,prolly even years to come.

The best part about Nightwish is how many different styles of music there are. There's something for everyone and I'm pretty sure everyone would find at least one song they'd like, especially considering there have been three vocalists in the band (Tarja, Anette, and the current one, Floor) so there's no excuse of "I hate the band because I don't like the singer's voice". Heck, there's even songs where only Marco sings if someone hates female vocalists :P

The fact that Max brought up nightwish, which is 1: A band the majority of the general public doesn't know 2: Is in my top two bands of al time with kamelot makes me happy. Very happy.

Some of these, especially Axel's and Ram's, you really need to hear the whole thing to form an opinion.
For additional reference, a number of the character trailers have longer samples (Chipp, Faust) or instrumental versions (Millia/Zato, Ram, Leo, Nago, Anji, I-no) released in prior months.
Faust's theme to me is a 10/10. when it gets to that one part where the key shifts and the orchestra kicks in is such a hype moment and I love it so much

Strive themes really make an enfasis on vocals . And personally I think every theme fits really well with each character . Zato in the story has lost all personality after been resurrected . So the vocals really fit imo.
In Ram's case , She's a girl that's trying to find herself ( meaning in her life and such things ) , so the enfasis on chorus really interest me .
I'm really looking forward to the full versions of the songs .
I'm not too hot on them all being vocals. I kind of prefer having only a couple notable vocal tracks and the rest fantastic instrumentals

I think the problem with some of these tracks is that they are very out of place compared to the music the series is known for, if you compare some of these to the rest of the GG library they don't belong in the same genre, which is absurd because the metal aesthetic is one of the defining traits of the series. Almost all character themes in GG AC+, Xrd and even vastedge is instantly recognizeably as being Guilty Gear music. I think the May & Ram themes are the biggest offenders in this regard, i wouldn't recognize them as GG tracks if i heard these themes without context.

Would love if u did another one of these after hearing the songs in full. Like other ppl said a lot of the previews don’t do the songs justice, especially Zato. Ur pretty spot on with Ram being a “love it or hate it song” since it’s intentionally weird but I think it’s easier to get into when u hear the full package. But I’m about the weird shit so maybe just me lol
Ram's theme sounded better during her reveal trailer. I feel like the vocals totally throw off the jazzy prog-rock vibe they were going for. I'm hoping the full version turns it around (or you can unlock instrumental versions of every track)

So it honestly feels like each track has a specific musical influence, and I love that. In the same way each character plays very differently, each of their themes is also extremely distinct. I can't quite place each of the musical influences, but I have a few.
Potemkin: I get big Viking metal vibes off of this, and I think it's the chanting rhythm and tempo that makes me feel like it could be an Iced Earth song. Chunky mid-tempo music to drink and fight along with.
Faust: Alice in Chains comes to mind first, especially with those vocals. I feel like there's a little bit of Dream Theater in there, as well, but I'm not as familiar with their work.
Millia: Max says Nightwish, and I would agree that it has a little bit of what they were after Tarja left the band and Anette came in. I also hear a lot of Amaranthe or Casey Lee Williams (best known for RWBY stuff) in there.
Ramlethal: This is prog as FUCK! The use of synth and what I think is a syncopated rhythm reminds me of the more experimental progressive bands of the early electronic era. Good stuff, but definitely not to everyone's ear.
Leo: That's a drinking song all right! Just enough of that upbeat Gaelic rhythm and slightly off-kilter melodic timing to make you feel like someone is singing it off the cuff after their third drink in.
Giovanna: Sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers in a big way. California surfer rock style with those cute little samples.
I can't quite place anything else, and I definitely don't hear the "Come Together" in Nago's theme. Like at all.
Zato's theme ending is 100% inspired by Queen

in defense of the Zato theme I kinda interpreted it as the first part being unruly and all over the place to signify Eddie and then it starts to focus into the chorus and is alot more consistent with its beat to signify Zato=1, but that's just me. All the music is 10/10 to me
I feel like zatos theme from what we heard is more about zatos entire story. Like "crowned king I lost my mind" is a clear reference to when he arose to power in the assassins guilt and became corrupt. Also the whole "banished/vanished into dark" part could be a reference to him dying by millia and Eddie taking over the body, or his incomplete resurrection. And then "it is hopelessness filled by the light" is also a clear reference as to how he found a new meaning to his life in the form of protecting millia

It's a shame Zato's theme preview doesn't do it any favor, it is an incredibly powerful theme that truly expresses the struggles of the character imo, especially the start and end, with that jazzy complaint...

You can look up Ram's theme and it's an instrumental version I really like which I thought was what theme was gonna be. Not sure how I feel about the vocals with that snipit.
4:56 for me it's an 11, Chipp was the first character I played when I started playing gg and that song literally made me cry the first time I heard it
I gotta hear more of Ramlethal’s theme in order to judge it. I love her Xrd theme so I gotta compare it to that.
