Hey everyone! Thanks for the overwhelmingly positive response to the video! I had a lot of fun working on it and I'm glad to see that everyone is enjoying it!
If this comment seems familiar, yet different, it's because I made a previous pinned comment that ended up getting removed. This video seems to have exploded in popularity, so in light of this, I've been spending some time doing a bit of channel management. I won't get into too many details, but the result of it meant that all of the comments and responses I left here got deleted. I apologize to the kind folks who engaged in a discussion with me, the conversations we had are unfortunately incomplete now. I really wish there was a way I could fix that.
In any case, I felt it's probably a good idea to leave some corrections in this pinned comment since a few folks have pointed out some mistakes that I made.
UPDATE: ...Yes, I am aware that I mispronounced Tír na nÓg...you don't have to keep telling me...
1:13 That Man blew up Japan BEFORE the Crusades began. That Man was running an experiment to test the functionality of Justice, which went very wrong, and the Universal Will attempted to manifest itself within Justice. Worried that this event may cause Earth to no longer be a human world, That Man then overrides Justice's controls and blows up Japan to stop the manifestation from occurring.
2:58 Ky becoming the king of Illyria and falling in love with Dizzy *technically* happens directly AFTER the events Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R. I wrote the video like this because I felt like it would flow better, otherwise I would have basically said that I was skipping over two games in the franchise in a row, which just felt awkward to me. In hindsight, I probably could have written this section to be a little less misleading, my bad.
9:39 This asterisk is very funny, but it's not entirely accurate. Happy Chaos wasn't really "controlling" the Universal Will, he was just absorbed inside of her, so he didn't actually kill Bedman. Delilah wants to kill Happy Chaos because she thinks it would be a roundabout way of avenging her brother since Happy Chaos created the Universal Will. I still think my explanation is more fun though lol.
13:01 Okay so this one is probably the biggest mistake I made, although this whole Scales of Juno thing is so confusing that I don't even blame myself THAT much for it. Ky Kiske DOES NOT have the Scales of Juno within him. Jack-O is the one with the Scales of Juno. No, what Ky has within him is the *BLOOD* of Juno, BIG difference. The blood of Juno essentially refers to the pure Gear cells of Justice, and these pure Gear cells are inside of Ky's eyeball and are what allow Ky to perform Dragon Install. So I believe that the explanation I provided here is pretty much correct, just replace "Scales of Juno" with "blood of Juno" and it'll make sense. Honestly, I feel like instead of calling it the "blood of Juno", they should have actually called it the "blood of JUSTICE" since I feel that better describes what's going on here, ESPECIALLY since I've seen a lot of other people also get this detail wrong, but it's Daisuke's vision so whatever I guess.
I'll update this post with more corrections if I feel they're important enough to mention. I obviously skipped over a lot of details and characters, so I encourage anyone who's actually interested in Guilty Gear lore to take the time and fully look into it. There's plenty of comprehensive videos out there that explain everything that I didn't, and there's the GG World mode in Guilty Gear Strive that's essentially an in-game encyclopedia for the whole series.

My favorite part is when Asuka was dramatically revealed to be a catboy then immediately stopped being one in the next game, which takes place like a month later.
Pretty sure in original dub Sol said that catboys are cringe and it went too deep into Asuka

Half of the games are music references. Sol's original name is Frederick Bulsara, Bulsara being the surname of Freddie Mercury. Mr. Badguy was then the name of Mercury's solo album.
I love the part when Sol just goes "This gear is becoming guilty" and proceed to guilt all over the place.
...the funny thing is that's not far wrong. In the very first game IIRC Justice basically says to Sol "Hey you are a gear that fights against other gears so you should feel guilty about that." And then he does. Because 'Wife dead. Regret.'

That's why he's such a fun character to me. He's a veritable wizard god capable of performing some of the most powerful magic the series has ever seen, yet he goes around, shooting guns, punching fuckers, and submitting to a time-manipulating woman all because it's funny. Nothing matters, so everything's awesome.

crazy how even when he skipped major worldbuilding elements and pretty much %90 of the cast and the story is still complicated as hell and crazier how you managed to make it very simple in just 15 minutes

Potemkin is an ex-slave of the country of Zepp (which is basically New India since when Y2K happened they're like the only country who said "FUCK MAGIC WE'RE GOING TO KEEP USING TECHNOLOGY" and then built a massive airship to become the first and only flying country in the world) who after joining the tournament in the first game helps fight in a rebellion to basically make Zepp less shitty. In the story itself Pot's main job basically is to Worf effect any strong opponent lol.
Millia is an ex-ex-ex-assassin who was originally apart of the Assassin's Guild and Zato(the Assassin's Guild's leader)'s lover before she realized that Zato's a punk-ass-bitch so she left him and her assassin life behind only to come back just to murder the shit out of Zato for, uhm, implied emotional and sexual abuse. She suceeds! Except wuh-oh, Eddie (the shadow demon that Zato uses to fight) took control of Zato's corpse so NOW Millia has to kill Eddie to finish her job. All the while running away from Venom (the new leader of the Ass Club) because he's pissed that she killed his crush (maybe). Then she kinda just lives a normal and happy life until Zato gets revived as less of a dick not because he's a better person but because he literally lost all emotions except somehow his love for Millia. So she helps Zato, Venom and Slayer (the original leader of the Ass Class) out with the story of Xrd SIGN and Rev. At the end of Rev Venom retires because he wants to bake bread with his new boyfriend Robo-Ky (a robotic copy of Ky Kiske created by the Post-War Administration Bureau (a sus af organization who does sussy and evil stuff) but was abandoned due to him being too advanced and gaining a sentience AND a strong personality), so Millia took over as the new head honcho of Ass Gang because Zato is still legally dead AND has no emotions and Slayer's too busy fucking the brains out of his immortal wife Sharon. Then Daryl (one of the three kings of Illyria mentioned in the video) invited Millia to basically combine the Ass Guild with a reformed PWAB to act as the CIA for Illyria (because Daryl was friends with the Ass Gaggle) where then she and Zato comes into the Strive story to provide basic exposition.
Yeah there's an entire Assassin's Guild subplot going on in the games that just does not come up or even is related to the main plot.
Because they aren’t important.

Yeah, just forget that omni-present gods from another timeline (and cuz they are not from there they're gods) - Axl and I-no - exist in this, and that both justice laser fusion and i-no hand shot were possible because of axl who conviniently can stop time, sure, not mattering, kinda there kinda in story, sure.

Sol, Ky, Aria(And her 20 clones/children), Those Men, I-no
Despite how nearly overcomplicated the lore of Guilty Gear is. I truly love it and of course lets not forget about the music.
Some important notes to go over:
"That man" only put Aria into Justice because Aria was dying and she volunteered, it was the only chance of her survival.
He then spent the rest of the series working behind the scenes to undo his mistakes and give Sol and Aria their normal human lives back.
Credit to @alpha- tomahawk for correcting the info on I-no and Axel. Read his response to this for the full breakdown of these two for a more in-depth look
I-No was the girlfriend Axel was trying to return to all along. While he was sent all over time she kept going back in time to stop the conclave from blowing up the city. She couldn't remember what he was even like after going through time again and again for so long. Meanwhile, she changed so much he couldn't recognize her either. Him gaining control of his powers and being a major part of the plot makes him one of the truly important characters for the plot thus far.
They have the same ID and therefore similar powers, but isn't half of I-NO (her will/purpose of saving mankind) taken from her by the original/happy chaos and implanted into himself?
That i-no part is just false, they're both were transported into another timeline trough backyard during some events (maybe baptisma-13 maybe creation of unversal will, i don't remember), essentially branding them as "bugs" in the system and granting them godly powers, but being regular people in other timeline and changing timeline itself caused them to somehow not recognise eachother. They're two seperate people who were boyfriend and girlfriend in another timeline with diffirent names (another reason for not recognising eachother, they only knew their loved one's name). While I-no always had a power, spending decades swapping timelines to save the city that was bombed by conclave thinking that she was sent here and given such power for a purpose, to save the world, eventually she snaps and just wants to return to her boyfriend no matter what bridges she has to burn, timeline with which is conviniently the only timeline they both can't access. Axl on the other hand was just a d u d e for most of the time, coming to his powers later on during Xrd, before that he was just a good friend to Sol and had a portion of said power, having access to backyard and stuff. Skipping some stuff between both of them who kind of learn from eachother as 2 only beings in this world with such powers - one broken down and blind with frustration of coming back to the loved one, and the other empowered by his resolve to return to the loved one and newfound powers but at the cost of forsaking this timeline forever. Which brings us to a coclusion that Axl is kind of a MAIN CHARACTER at this point, not game wise but just that his pressence in the timeline is what makes that timeline exist and be the true one. He, having lived as a d u d e and having many friends, decides forsaking such people at the hour of need is not cool and stays, helping sol defeat I-no. At that moment they both realise something: Axl, that she reminds him of his gf, and she, no longer blinded by hate to everything, well, cuz she's dying, that he has silky blonde hair like her bf had, making them both snap that they were together in this timeline all this time and couldn't recognise eachother, but too late as i-no is now dead dead. They're not half of something, they're them, 2 characters, being lovers in one timeline but kind of polar opposites in this one. Also, the fact she "ended the world" by ending human factores such as hunger, sleep, diseases, age and such, made some kind of weight in Axl recognising his loved one, but that's just anime stuff, the fact they both were looking kind of the same as in original timeline (given that i-no recognised his long blonde hair) but still couldn't recognise eachother just because they couldn't remember their own names is kind of stupid.
EDIT: Forgot to mention why i-no had her powers from the get-go - The original, aka Happy chaos, is who gave them powers, don't remember why i-no in particular though.

It literally is- jokes aside Sin showing her kindness by offering her food (which she didn't care about before) allowed her to begin to feel emotions and attachments to things which led to her breaking away from the universal will
Ramlethal literally gained the ability to have feelings from eating McDonalds and having a puppy dog and it's all completely canon.

Honestly, I think what makes Guilty Gears story work for me, inspire of all its absurd twists and turns into stupidity, is how human everyone is.
Like, the first thing the closest thing to Einstein that exists on earth decides to do, after doing so many insane BS things, is start a radio show. MF spent literal centuries fighting a never ending battle to protect humanity and deep down just wanted to host a radio talk show. How absolutely adorable is that.

This was GODLIKE! I never really cared for the story & lore in GG games, and I never played STRIVE myself, but today I got a full story mode walkthrough vid recommended by RUclips, so I watched it, and I had some HUGE NGE EoE PTSDs so rocking hard, thus my interest skyrocketed in an instant.

Well considering this leaves out 90% of the cast and the entire XX series... Well lets just say at one point Sol goes back in time, where I-No makes him fight his past self. Sol kills his past self causing a grandfather parodox, and lives. I-No is confused and askes how Sol is still alive and Sol basically answers "cuz i want to."

Good video overall but there's a couple of mistakes around the video that actual muddles up the summary a bit :
The Y2K incident was caused by the Universal Will trying to manifest itself in the world through technology which failed and led to the destruction of all electrical technology. As well, Justice never amassed an army in Japan to convert people It was a test ran by That Man to see if Justice could be a functional gear but Universal Will tried to take control of it and convert the place through the Backyard to take control and manifest itself. To stop that, That Man overrides Justice's control and beams the entire place to stop her, turning Japan into a sinkhole in the ocean. The Crusades comes after that.
The conclave's plan is to take control of the Backyard by fusing with Justice to be able to control the world. Unbeknownst to them, they were manipulated by the Universal Will/Ariels to give her another way to take control of Justice but it failed. Dizzy's beam was to overload Justice's system since the lightning bolt was used to power Justice, allowing Sol to beat the conclave.
The giant laser isn't part of the plan. They wanted to stop Ariels' plan of taking control of Justice through Elphelt (which is a Valentine, a being made through a blueprint of Aria which is Justice's soul) by implementing Jack'O inside, a That Man-made Valentine that serves as a back-up of Aria's soul. Due to Ariels being a bitch and Daryl, the third king, wanting Justice destroyed, they don't have time to let the long process of fusion do its work so the made up plan on the spot is to have Sol use the giant beam meant to destroy Justice as a way to give Jack'O a shit ton of energy to instantly complete the fusion (helped by MY MAN Axl).
Delilah didn't want to kill Happy Chaos cause he killed Bedman, she wants him dead because Delilah thinks that she can take revenge in a roundabout way because he created the Universal Will. Otherwise the Universal Will acted by themselves and the reason Chaos is in their body is because she absorbed him to get I-No's power. Bedman died because he just burned out himself completely using his powers (him and Delilah are essentially so smart, they can alter reality at the cost of not being able to stay conscious in their body for long without outright dying).
Ky doesn't have the Scales of Juno, that's completely incorrect. It doesn't pass through genetic heritage, only Justice, and therefore, Jack'O now, has the Scale of Juno. The reason why Ky has gear powers is simply because he exchanged his eye with Sin to limit his overwhelming power but since Gear cells are extremely powerful, they ended up affecting Ky, who now is capable of accessing Dragon Install. The only thing that passed down through Justice's lineage is a the key to unlock the Cube (created by That Man) because the key is simply Justice's cells.
Otherwise, the video in itself is pretty fun to watch and quite easy to digest, despite how complicated GG can get (and that's without all the side plots like the Assassin Guild or Baiken's Vengeance and the whole Post War Administration Bureau in X and XX). So kudos man, you did good.
@@staiven Yeah, most of the points up there was just my picky ass wanting the information to be correct haha, I've actually debated to not add the Conclave part because I knew it was a joke but my nerd ass side won, unfortunately.
The whole thing with the Flames of Corruption and Scales of Juno are very complicated but the jist of it is that they are two information beings from the backyard that can trigger the Absolute World if they manifest at the same time. The Original sealed them into seeds and gave them to Asuka to prevent UW to have access to it. Years later when Aria got sick, That Man got desperate and wanted both Frederik and Aria to stay together, so he gave the Flames to Frederik, turning him into the prototype Gear and Aria got the Scales by being inside Justice.
Due to all the mumbo jumbo of Xrd, Jack'O now possesses the Scales and Asuka, in Strive, either destroyed the Flames of Corruption by turning Sol back to a human or he retrieved it and stored in a tome or something (unsure about that part). Asuka's comment of Ky having "the blood of Juno" is not Ky having inherited the Scales but rather him having the Justice line gear cells, since Justice is the perfect gear and therefore her and her lineage being the strongest. It's essentially the story confirming through Asuka's words that Justice/Aria is indeed Dizzy's biological mother rather than a (obvious) speculation throughout the series.
Honestly, I get you with the whole seeds thing, when they were reintroduced in Strive, I had to go back to Xrd and find the explanation again cause I was lost for a while, that shit mad complicated. However, maybe that line will be adressed in a future Another Story, cause I know Daisuke probably wants to explore other ideas and set-up the next possible arc of the series so we'll have to wait and see. I also want to add I really like the addition of the Sol vs Justice fight, it was a nice little touch, wish you could've done the same for later moments but I know the rest of the story couldn't allow that in the rest of the video so that's alright.

Amazing video, perfectly unhinged just how a series like Guilty Gear deserves
Having just gotten into guilty gear this week I was not prepared for the story to be this chaotic. This feels like it’s hitting nier levels of story and it’s just a fighting game! Very well done condensing it down to 15 minutes, helped me understand everything up to this point really well

Its a very cool summary but the content its very unevenly distributed. There are some things I noticed, starting with the most relevant ones:
The clearest flaw is tha Strive is half of the video and very dettailed because its the newer game, while the whole Xrd "trilogy" is only a few minutes long.
Some important things are not mentioned till later, like Bedman, who is the big deal in Xrd.
Asuka´s original intentions are not explained.
Axl... like, as a whole. His powers, his contribution to both Xrd and Strive´s final fight and relationship with Ino
The whole Zato, Faust and the resurrection magic plot is not mentioned but baiken and delilah's (now bedman appears) little redemption story is.
Slayer and the Assasins Guild are quite important in the story, yet they are missing.
Kliff is actually quite important to be forgotten (One of the guys who helped defeating the og Justice, part of both Sol and Ky's development and Testament's father)
This must have looked really 🤓, probably because it is, but I think it is worth mentioning as a constructive critic. Apart from those things, I really enjoyed the video, good editing and narration, but as a Strive introduction and summary instead of a GG one.
@@staiven I know the quality will improve with each video, thats what trial and error is. If your first try is this good the next one will be great, I'm sure. But my critic is not so much because I'm a hardcore lore enthusiast (which I may be) but more because I noticed the common mistakes doing a summary: disproportionated parts, missing possibly relevant information while including less important things, going back to explain or introduce something instead of doing it at its time... You know, things that would be applied to any one of these, regardless of the topic.

Ive never played guilty gear but i thought the aesthetic was dope. Ive gone down a gg rabbithole and after a few hours i can safely say i understand it less than i did 24 hours ago.
The character that I wanted to appear not only in the next DLC story but also as the next S2 DLC character of Strive is Johnny.
I haven’t seen him get serious in the story of Guilty Gear except for May’s sick condition.
I mean, he’s already perfect in terms of his character/personality as he interacts with someone cause you know, like Johnny Bravo.
What I mean is they could explain more of Johnny’s story, his personal life, struggles, besides being the playboy of Guilty Gear, kinda like Kagura Mutsuki from Blazblue where he wants to improve Ikaruga.
