Hey there he is! Thanks so much for this shout-out Paddy. Very kind of you. Love your stuff as always between editing, take time to watch your videos and learn a thing or two. -H
This really is one of the most gorgeous parts in all of south east asia. Me and my now wife did this loop in 2019 and we enjoyed every kilometer of it. Laos still remains one of the few countries where you have the perfect balance of easy travelling with an abundance of amazing things to do but still not too many tourists compared to Thailand or Vietnam. I really hope it stays that way even though China is coming closer and closer. Thank you for the breath-taking images.
Paddy I've just subscribed to your channel due to your superb content, no bar girls etc etc just pure truth about the countries you visit. 100% brilliant.
What's quite fun about that tank is that the fuel keeps changing colour in different countries. So Liss' bike keeps changing colour. Lovely video as always.
Paddy, as well as oil changes, look to channge the air filter because of those dusty conditions. Laos is such a lovely country and you bring out the best in the place.
Hey man, if you get stuck in a bad situation, as a viewer I just want to say it's perfectly fine in my opinion for you to do a Livestream where we can help with some super chats. You have a lot of support here, don't hesitate to use it in emergencies.
we have just finished Thakhek Loop but we were advised in hostel and motorbike rentals no to to do a loop just go to Konglor and back the same way and it was great because You have time to visit all points on the map and stay safe and ride on roads in good condition. The last part is considered as dangerous with a lot of traffic and motoribike-car-truck accidents. It was one of the best exprerience in my life, highly recommend to everyone... :)
I congratulate 🎉you on bringing us to beautiful Laos you have brought me so much joy with your latest serious I’m already planning on going there . Thank You Paddy for such an awesome channel. Looking forward to more . Also Laos 🇱🇦 T-shirt coming soon ? All the best .
Hey Paddy, After your series in LAOS I would love a video where to compare Thailand, Vietnam, Laos with each other with some pros and cons of each country. Great video as always!
That was an awesome video! Love the Christmas cave with all the stairs similar to the Relativity painting Escher😉 Glad that your drone in now working and the guesthouse doesn’t look so bad at all! Thanks for sharing this video and cannot wait to see the next one😊
Hello Paddy, i think you got over your last experience, and now you enjoy Laos - all your pains and troubles are "travellers deseases", you are not alone Lol! - awesome video i love your positivity and reality, enjoy your travel Paddy 💝🍀good luck, i love to follow your travel with Zelda....
Amazing video Paddy, it really looks like a great place to visit. Sorry to hear about the diarrhea. No doubt you already practice the "rule of P's" Packaged, Peelable, Purified or Piping hot! I also assume loperamide is your treatment of choice. You may want to consider Bactrim (a mixture of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole), that can be used as both a preventive and treatment. You should be able to buy it in any big pharmacy in Thailand. CMO, MoD (retired)
Omg paddy, waiting eagerly for part 2, BTW from tomorrow i will be in thailand (bangkok) for a month if you ever have subscriber get together within next month i would love to be part of that.
Hello Paddy Always nice to follow you in my ' home country'. You always bring some new insights. Somehow it is better to go clockwiese around the Thakek Loop. Coming' out' in Thakek again is helpful. Especially when you plan to go south. And for the next time you should to a excursion from on Mahaxay. To see the Xe Bang Fai cave. By far the most impressive (water)cave in Laos. Otherwise keep on rollin...
I knew you from the Budgeteers videos and recently i found out you have your own channel. I started watching your Laos videos first as I am hoping to go there soon. But I am in such in awe of the way you make your videos (it feels natural, almost documentary travel style) so I am going to catch up and watch all your videos!
Hiya. Paddy. Loved this. Feel for you with your aching bones. And how your body is misbehaving. Great video. The cave is impressive. So glad you had a guide. Love how you didn't let things get to you. And things worked out perfectly. Beautiful video. Those donuts looked banging. The perfect end to the video. Can not wait for more adventures. What a build-up. Love it. Have a wonderful weekend.
Wow, hearing that you're on a budget of 700,000 kip per day sounds like luxury! We have been living on around 150,000 kip per day for 2 people since we arrived in Laos! 🤣 Excited to see how your experience is on the loop as we had the most incredible time but also didn't really stick to the loop as we wanted to get off the beaten path! Great to see what we missed! 😀
I’ve been binge watching your channel while I’ve had food poisoning. Sharing with my family and friends. Love it and looking forward to your new video as well as catching up on all of your past travels through the different provinces in Thailand.
I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention this yet. Paddy - you lost your wallet and have to budget your cash...but you are a pro at this. You are a Budgeteer!! You are no stranger to having to budget your funds!
I have just discovered your channel as I am wanting to do a Thailand & Laos trip this year. Seriously awesome content, Paddy! Endearing, honest, funny, witty, and informative. Loving it. Question - What DJI drone do you use? Also, would you recommend the Thakhek loop for a solo female traveller? Or Laos in general for a solo female traveller?
Great video man! One thing I've done in the past is use a banking app to send money to my hotel's account, then get cash from them in return. Most places usually oblige if you ask nicely
Regarding the drone. I do see you (very often) take off from the ground in dusty areas. Very good chance there is debris in the motor. Even though you can manually spin it fine, the drone still probably detects something and is refusing to take off as a safety precaution. I would suggest going at it easily with an air compressor or a hard blow and in the future not taking of from the ground in dirty/dusty areas. Perhaps investing in a small compact foldable landing pad would be a good idea. **Update after seeing you fix it** Seems I was correct about the dust issue :p
Hi paddy! Just subscribed after seeing your "challenge" on Ryan's (life in bamboo) channel 😀. I have a somewhat rare obsession with all things Asia so it's wonderful to have another place to watch! I'm so excited to begin my journey of learning with you. P.S. I, too, have swam in snake infested water.... 🤣.
Paddy, my Thai wife keeps saying you don't have to exchange your Thai baht as the locals are happy to take it as well as US Dollars. You might get a better rate overall.
did this loop back in 1995, didn't know what i was doing... right after i got out of the navy and killing time for 3 months in laos. looking back now, it was less of everything, but it was just amazing... dont forget to do the zipline... hope you did though, near lak sao!
@@walkietalkietraveller2932 in 1995, i got lost visiting families back in laos; the thakhek loop was less of everything... i hated it back then, but 27 years later those memories are still give me the best experience. there was no thalang lake. merry x-mas to you as well @walkie talkie traveller, if you are traveling stay safe.
Woohoo I gotta get on that doughnut diet 🤣 Great vid mate. Awesome attitude you've got in the face of a lot of annoying things going wrong. I'd of lost my shit, for sure 😂
I'm an adventure motorcyclist ( got a yamaha super tenere 1200) and in loving it how you are getting about on you bike. I'm getting inspired... maybe you should invest in a bigger adventure bike like a dr650 it's be a bit more comfortable to get about on.
I really enjoy your videos. Even though live in Thakhek but I have never seen it like this👍, I saw you riding motorcycles, driving trucks, it's really dangerous🫣. I ask foreign tourists to motorcycle with caution, take care all people. However, all Lao people are always happy to welcome foreigners.
I was scared to roam around 🇱🇦 as 🇺🇸 dropped so many bombs during the 🇻🇳 war that I was going to get blown up doing so. Thanks for clearing this up. Seriously I kept getting flashbacks of 🇮🇶 about getting blown up again
OMG! . I've got to do the loop! I wonder if I could rent a bike with an attached side car. I'd have to purchase a kidney-belt based on what I've learned from your experience. Aside note: The stairs illusion artist is Escher. Very much looking forward to the next episode. Rock on! dcb
Hi paddy. Loving the videos. This is going to be a random question but I'm trying to find my purpose but I'd love to know.. what's your purpose? What keeps you travelling and making videos etc. Thankyou
Kinda surprised a fella like you who travels all the time doesn't have multiple cards, with one stashed in your pack back in the hotel room (or bike bags) and one on you. You can get multiple cards from the same bank or if that's not possible open a second bank account and have that as the backup card.
Just a quick question on border crossing from Chiang Khong into Laos. Is it open for a USA Tourist with a METV. Just looking for a land crossing close to Chiang Mai for a border run. No one in CM seems to know the answer. No motorcycle, just on foot. Thanks. Great Laos series!!!
Paddy, can I do part of this loop by staying in a cityvillage, renting a scooter - going few km, going back; changing the city/village by bus, etc. I don't know to ride a moto and I want to explore part of the loop at least. Thanks!
Did you ever call that restaurant where you had breakfast to see if you left your wallet there you are there then went on the bumpy road, maybe you left it there?
Wow what a start to the loop... Can't wait to share the second (and best) half of the loop very soon ♥️
Hey Doyle, where can i find your complete Thakek itinerary? You are really a fun and positive explorer. Thank you so much.
Paddy should be the official tourist ambassador for Laos. It's definitely on my bucket list now together with every other place he goes to
haha yeah thanks, maybe I will invoice them after the trip haha

Haha I also did in 2017. An amazing loop for sure.
I did it in 2017 too. November! Maybe we all did it at the same time
Been rewatching all of the series on the Budgeteers. The nostalgia is real! You've come a long way from that camera-shy guy from series 1! Be proud
Paddy has many problems, but being boring, isn't one of them!
Great video Paddy . . . .
Wow, what memories you will take from day one, thank you for making such a wonderful, entertaining vid, love ❤️ 🇱🇦

Dear paddy, the more I see the fake black tank, the more I hate it!!
Great video as usual mate
You didn't tell us how you resolved your lost wallet problem Paddy. I love travelling but i'm always terrified of being without money. Cheers Tony
Don't put all your life saving in your wallet.
คือพูดเรื่องนี้บ่อยมากคิดให้เป็นนะแล้วก็อ่านคอมเมนต์ฉันด้วย
I think the Thakek Loop has just been added to my list 😈
I like your bike. Is that black gas tank standard on this model or you improvised this tank by yourself. TIA
Very nice👍
Hi paddy. Loving the videos.

Don't forget to change your air filter Paddy, all that dust is getting sucked into your air filter!!!?

no there isn't enough infrastructure in that area... you will be fine going slow, there is only big trucks for the first day
Well thats the limit of my thai too. Khopkhun khrub
You need to interspace some gym days and take care of your back or at least do exercise in your hotel room with bands
Can you use your bank app on your phone to scan or at the arm cardless withdrawal?
