Nice vid. So far I'm max VS lead (on a good day) but I reckon I can do that one. I thought the headwall would be harder and certainly didn't expect the luxury topout gear placement!
It's definitely a bit of a softie HVS, you even get to have a nice lie down part way 😄 The face is pretty straightforward, and gear for the topout is as you say a bit of luxury for the grit!
The belayer would not have prevented a ground fall as he was too far away and gave too much slack. It was most definitely an example of how not to belay.
Indeed I would have probably hit the ground if I came off the first move, but even with the best belaying in the world you'd probably swing into the block and have a bad time either way. I certainly didn't help matters by wrapping the rope round my leg 😅 On grit you get used to making sure you don't come off the first few metres!
As a professional mountain guide I know bad practice when I see it. I have a life but the way the belayer is operating is a serious risk to life. Just look at the landing area, it's terrible.
Really happy with this one, think my videography, editing and grading is coming along nicely. Let me know what you think!
love these vids... really captures a Gritstone experience! keep em coming!

I’ve got to get on this route, the campus looks epic 💪
This will be right up your street mate, campus moves and all the cracks you can stuff with gear 😅

Welcome to grit-stone, the ropes are usually for aesthetics anyway.

Climbing with ropes? Witchcraft! 🤣
I am known to drag a rope up on occasion 😁
