Capturing the beauty of the Peak District and more, through a climbing lens.
Motorcade - E1 5a - Solo - Froggatt
A glorious inversion and some solo slab climbing at Froggatt this morning. Despite the apparently sunny weather, it was a bit dewy and with some cloud rolling in and conditions weren't quite as good as I was hoping, the top pockets in particular were a little greasy, so called it a day after this one.

Sunset Slab - HVS 4b - Froggatt

The weirdly, but rightly, HVS 4b gritstone classic line of this area at Froggatt. I was a bit blasé about it, only 4b and all, but the gear and rope is basically useless for the top section, you are soloing. Have to get your head switched on and not necessarily hop on this for a 'warmup' 😅 Memorable for sure, although there are much better lines on the edge.... #climbing #gritstone #soloing #tr...

Not much point taking a rope on this one. The direct line to the right of Sunset Slab needs a cool head to commit to the bulge, but rewards with some decent holds to finish. Feels quite a bit more serious than the slabs on Tody's Wall as while quite run-out, they at least have gear that would keep you from decking, not the case here, or Sunset Slab! I do like a nice solo, gets the head in the r...

The fine grit E1 test-piece wrestle gets a repeat with some new recording gear. Experience the tension as I foolishly skip the good rest on the arete and fluff my gear placements, then get short-roped on the crux 😅 Great way to finish a day at my favourite grit venue. #climbing #ukclimbing #gritstone #trad #tradisrad 00:00 - Intro 00:10 - Easier climbing 01:30 - Build the safety net 03:15 - Go ...

Our resident crack addict getting elbows deep in a lesser travelled Millstone HVS. #crack #crackclimbing #climbing I was happy enough to get through the crux section clean on second, and managed to not layback either, I may be getting there with my jamming. 00:00 - Intro 00:11 - Fists 02:00 - Roof 03:20 - Crux, nearly off! 04:30 - Easier ground

One of the great gritstone HVS classics, Great North Road. It's been a few years since I seconded this, so good to come back and get the lead tick. Revisiting some classic grit HVS today. Perfect autumn conditions 😎 I've been mostly bouldering all summer but now it's time to get my trad head back on for our Morocco trip next month. REVIEW - Edelrid Pinch

Review of the new assisted-braking belay device from Edelrid. Finally got my Pinch a few weeks ago and have tested it on some trad, sport, and TRS. Overall a really neat device with some nice little improvements over the competition. No need to bin your GriGri and upgrade, but definitely one to consider if you're in the market. 00:00 - Intro 00:28 - Direct attachment 02:00 - Paying out 02:25 - ...

Last minute after-work session to check out Farley Woods. Spent most of the time bushwhacking and taking wrong turns, but got there eventually. Beautiful quiet spot and a decent range of problems, a few damp but mostly in decent condition. Will be back for more..... #ukclimbing #bouldering #rockclimbing

Pink Wall Eliminate 2 - f7A? - The Roaches
Great to see this classic climb! I think my first lead climb was Sunset Crack to the right, followed by seconding on Sunset Slab - nostalgic trip back to 1990 or so!
Excellent, memorable routes for sure. My first lead was a completely forgettable zero star Vdiff at Stanage, but my second was Manchester Buttress which made up for it!
Hi, i really like your video, this mix of POV and gritstone is brilliant. Keep going!
Thanks, appreciate it 😊 Just packing my gear for a day out on the grit tomorrow!
What harness are you using? The color is great
It's an Arcteryx AR395A, one of the older colourways called 'Serene'
Gosh, doesn’t the guy in orange sew it up 😅 Another great video man. I really liked the move from the pockets, great positions!
You learn to place gear by placing gear..
@@largeformatlandscape 100% agree, as the dude in orange is also me 👍
@@edanjones Ha!! I'm on your page :-)
@@edanjones between your safety first gear placements, and my penchant for runout slabs, we've got the bases covered 😅
@@PulpFrictionClimbing You’re damn right 👊
Cripes, looked like you were nearly off there!
@@davidrobinson7684 yep, the foot placement for that crux move is pretty polished! Luckily the jams are perfect
great edit, lovely film. Classic stuff!
@@weekendbikingwarrior360 thanks ☺️
Love this route!
@@lewproffitt I always enjoy it, worth an extra star in my book, despite being rather brief, it's certainly memorable!
The crux move where you have to go all in and stand up on a small foot hold with your left foot makes my palms sweaty! Well done! 😎
It's a gripper for sure 😅
Excuse the clickbaity thumbnail 😂 Had to see how the engagement works. A pretty soft touch E2, maybe E1 5a more fair? Not really an option to come off either way.
Another great video man, you cruised that solo. Still find it funny that my leg was twitching 😅
I enjoyed this video.... something different 😊
stumbled upon this through reddit. Nice work! instant sub
@@oswindrahermanu9700 thanks! Enjoy 😊
Nice hand jams 😎
Learnt from the master 😊
Mint video man, the POV really adds 👍 The new mics sound great too 👌
Good effort! Desperate to get on this!
Thanks, such a good route! All the gear you need too, well worth it 👌
Lovely opening shot! Such a fun problem to
Thanks! Shame my audio was so terrible on this one. Fun little problem as you say 😎
Great video! Sim’s jamming 💪
Small update. I've been using the device more since posting the original review using a different rope, an Edelrid Swift Protect Pro Dry 8.9, and it was pretty annoyingly grabby when payout out, so I had to resort to the thumb technique. Despite the rope being slimmer than the one I originally tested with, it's a fair bit less supple, which is adding enough friction for the cam to engate. As with most devices of this type, your experience is going to vary a lot depending on your rope type and condition.
Let me know what you think of the format, more interesting to crop it in like this on trad? I speeded up most of the faffing about, but didn't want to lose the essence of my slow and steady punter style 🌞
Nice edit man, you were getting so close. Skin looked battered! Don't support your camera was running on my send was it? I forgot to record.
Thanks! I'll check my footage tomorrow, can't remember if it was running still or not. Skin has just about recovered 😅
Had a look through, only have a couple of your non-send goes I'm afraid!
@@PulpFrictionClimbing no worries cheers for having a look.
It’s going next time 💪
As long as next time is a way off, It's going to take a month for my skin to grow back 😅
Thank you for the thorough and detailed review of the PINCH! We truly appreciate your honest feedback and the effort you put into explaining its performance. Reviews like yours are invaluable in helping climbers make informed decisions, and your insights contribute to our mission of continuously improving for the climbing community.
I have a pinch and whilst I really like it I find its very grab'y paying out rope unless I use the thumb-on-cam method (suspect its me not the device having never owned or used a grigri etc. before getting a pinch) which in turn twists the rope quite a lot! Super smooth lowering off/abseiling with it and the direct to harness design is brilliant
It likely comes down to finding the 'knack', and that will be specific to your rope and it's condition. I'm using an Edelrid Parrot 9.8 in the video. If I use my grubby old 10mm Tendon rope it's much more grabby.
My first time doing this format, feedback welcome! How are you finding the Pinch?
Cracker man, really good video 🤌 More gear reviews 🙏
Nice looking dynamic more 👍 colour also popping 🤌
The light is so good in the evening in Farley Woods ☀ 😎
One of the best videos yet 🤌
Cheers, still learning!
Great video!
Great video man, was a mint day out on the Grit 🙏
Yep, I know Indirect Arete isn't f7A, but can't figure out to change text using the app! (let me know if you know the secret)
As somebody who doesn’t dry tool this looks like multi-tasking on another level! Impressive to watch
That top out 😂
Classic Peak District mizzle scenes…you’ve got to seize those little weather windows havent you!
This looks like a nice spot…loving the Edan beta tips too😎
Excuse the audio at the start, shouldn't edit when I'm about to fall asleep 😅
Amazing view!
And an amazing view 🏞️
GREAT LINE 🤌
Indeed, thanks for the drone footage!
That foot work, 10/10 🤩
Sim laybacking 😮
Sim in cracks 🙏
Hell yeah man, STRONG 💪

Hell yeah, strong 💪
Nice one, a great climb to solo I guess. It was my first VS lead as I'd worked out that it was a soft touch. Can recommend to confident HS leaders.
Yep, fairly easy VS but steep and tiring if you faff with too much gear. Easier to solo! Big holds, solid rock, nice moves, probably my most climbed route at Stanage.
New 20mm lens on this one, which clearly needs to be manually focused as it kept hunting during this vid 🙃
Typo in the title
👀👀
Nice send
