    That t490, the classes i took the reps were telling me that i needed to put the wetbed down, let it flash and after its dry THAN put my base down.. i did it like that for a year. Well the last few months i actually been putting my wetbed down then quickly puttimg my base down while 490 is still wet. I have have such better results. Everyone i know lets the 490 completely dry before putting base down. Haha that just doesnt make sence to me. You want something for them metallics to land in and be able to flow out. I look at it like a pool, you take a handfull of sand and toss it into the pool its gonna flow out nicely. You take a handful of sand and toss it on dry land, its gonna look like donkey wang. Eh, i dont know sorry for the rant. Awesome work bro

    I will be trying some Octoral water based basecoat this week and the TDS is saying two singles wet coats, wet on wet to cover dry then the drop coat or two single wet coats drying in between coats then a drop coat depending on temp and humidity, the TDS for this paint goes into great detail on application, should be interesting 🤔😬😂 John UK.

  • @RMYD002

    I've never sprayed PPG but I currently use Axalta. I don't understand the purpose of using a product that needs 3+ coats? 1.5 coats of Axalta put on wet and you're ready to clear. We are in a high production shop and our current manager drops hints of switching to PPG. I don't understand how that would be beneficial. Great tutorial videos by the way.

  • @lalofactory22

    My question. Looks great but how is it a blend when you got new paint on entire door ? If color is off a bit, it won’t match to the back door. And silvers are often the hardest to match. Sometimes even if the exact same color is used it can change in a different brand of reducers or clears. I feel a better door blend by only spraying the front part of the door and blending with a fade, leaving old color on back half to match back door. All sanded in like a 800.

    • @Skipdogg15
      @Skipdogg15 10 месяцев назад

      He didn't paint the whole door. He used clear base to make a nice bed blended the door then clear coated the whole thing

    Hi. I have a question for you. When painting something like a bumper, how do you get even coverage on the inner duct parts or edges inside the bumper where trims go? I struggle to get the paint in, get it down smooth and not overload the edges creating a run. More so with clear coat. Cheers

    • @chasehatcher1149
      @chasehatcher1149 2 года назад +2

      Personally, I start with those edges and hard to reach areas and spray them from the backside if possible. That way by the time you get to the front you’re not paying more material on the faces from trying to hit the edges causing too much material on the faces for runs and sags to start

    I see your using the TE20 cap I’m using the T110 from one of your videos I saw and I love it. For base coat metallics should I keep using the T110 cap or change to TE20? I’ve been spraying sheer silver metallic and had some problems with tiger stripes and blotcheness… I’m pretty sure if I drop pressure and do what you Just did it will fix my problems lol

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  2 года назад +1

      I found TE20 best for this system. But if what you are using is working then keep doing it. Just try going lighter on the last coats.

      One thing with metallics is that you have to make sure you are going the same speed left and right with the gun
      I had this bad habit of going super fast moving left and then going a bit slower going to my right with the gun. That will cause striping 100% of the time regardless if it’s metallic or not

    • @megaman4201
      @megaman4201 2 года назад +2

      That's correct, all of the PPG Envirobase has a very blue tint when it's wet, that's why you can't attempt paint match with paint on the stick, has to be sprayed out, dried, and cleared.

From basf RM/90 line spies solvent line, ppg ehp, have been using this method for a while and has not failed me yet. 👍
