    I finally got to use this double drop coat method on the Tacoma bedside,it's much better technique than mine by far, i was able to see the difference under my portable sun light. I'm 47 ,who says you can't teach a old dog tricks.you did to me ! thank you again !

    Always paint edges and difficult areas first to avoid runs. Your wheel edges as well which you didn’t do. I always change my overlaps sections on each coat. Never the same twice like you did into the fender and quarter panel It helps make sure you get proper mil all across each panel. Hope that tip helps guys out.

    As a suggestion to viewers .... Can you mention how much paint , primer etc , clear was mixed for each repair , ie bumper xx oz used, or door xx base mixed.
    Can you also show us how you make let down cards for colour matching tri coats or difficult colours to match during blending

    Hey Gabriel I'm a subscriber and really love your videos they've helped me a lot improving my work to a better result, my paint and clear are pretty good I've only got trouble on waterbase colour matching most of the time my colour looks lighter or darker even though it comes up as a 4 or 5 on spectro, I always check the colour before spraying it looks really good and blendable but when I paint most of the time you can see the difference, please I know you're very busy with work and videos but if you do get the chance please make a video of how you choose the colour how you mix and how you choose the colour thanks man

      Hey brother thanks! I suck at color matching hahaha I would try to use a different gun and see if that makes a difference. Sometimes the gun sprays in a way that changes the color but I will try my best to do a video

    I know this is an older stream but Im curious on the hood. You masked the hood to the edge of Im guessing a body line but how do you not get a variance in the colors or a tape line? Its awesome how you tend to try and answer all the questions from the viewers.

    Hey buddy. Great job making your videos, teaching, explaining and how you live your life with your approach to all of this. Very inspiring.. I see you using this blue paper masking or plastic.. why do you use this instead of the clear bag that comes from the roll? Thanks

    How do you make sure you don’t cause the car you’re painting to look seedy after clearing after your drop coat?

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS
      @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS  4 года назад +1

      Few things is make sure you are reducing the base like factory says. Also painting temp between 75-80 degrees also you can use a wet bed

    • @TheRealSirPreame
      @TheRealSirPreame 4 года назад

      Thanks I will try that and let you know the results. Currently I tried turning the heat off to do the drops and i got a cleaner results. But I’ll try the 75-80 range.

    I’m spraying solvent base coat on dealer jobs... quick question. I know for water you lower your pressure on the drop coat, but what about solvent??? It’s been a good 6 years since I’ve sprayed solvent and I think we used to RAISE our air pressure for solvent. Do you know???

    Hey man, I’ve heard that if you put the control coat on when it’s flashed you can run into adhesion problems with the clear. Basically you are putting on a mist coat. What’s your opinion as a expert and your experiences?

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS
      @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS  3 года назад

      All paint lines are different. Ppg you are supposed to let it flash off before applying control coat and also clear coat

    Does the iwata lph400 work for base with ppg water base, I have the nova for clear I am switching from solvent to waterbase or should I look into getting a sata 5000hvlp for base

  • @arianamariefernandez1302
    @arianamariefernandez1302 7 лет назад +1

    Motivated painter,why are you using the Sata 5000.? Didn't you say you like & prefer the Devillbiss base coat gun..because of it's lower psi ability...!!

    doing a nardo grey soon haven't painted it before. it's a solid should I do a control cost as well. Haven't done a solid colour in a very long time been doing Metallics

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS
      @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS  7 лет назад +1

      +Sahil if there is not mettalics don't control coat but if you are having trouble blending of leave your pressure at 28and pretend you are applying a control coat

    What's right pressure on sata 5k hvlp for drop coat 1.2/1.4 ?

  • @Brulserz
    @Brulserz 7 лет назад +2

    If you lower the pressure when applying the drop coat, isnt that going to make the particles/metallics larger?

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS
      @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS  7 лет назад +1

      +Brulserz the control coat is supposed to be applied at a lower pressure that is the way to get the Metallics to sit the way they are supposed to 😀 that's what ppg says anyways 😁😁😂

    • @Brulserz
      @Brulserz 7 лет назад +1

      And if you are spraying solvent based, whats the deal then?

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS

      Look at the silver playlist. It's the last coat before clear. All paint company call it something else but it's a coat to get the mettalics to stand up properly

    What reducer do you use? I use T494 and I think it dries too fast causing mottling

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS
      @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS  3 года назад +1

      I use the same but I think ppg has a slower reducer for super dry areas

    • @MOTIVATEDPAINTERS

      +nylsson lopez depending on the gun I drop my pressure to 15-18 psi and I move faster. Not sure if that was your question
