I use a similar technique to you and when I was a apprentice 20 years ago here in nz ppg dominates the paint industry . We got taught this thru all our training . Two medium cover coats and when it starts evaporating do a couple dry technique coats to eliminate the mottle . Those colours always tend to mottle . I’m a self employed refinisher and have employed many painters and yes everybody paints differently . Love your Chanel and keep up the good content

Did my first spray and encountered lots of problems. First I’m in south Florida, 😅About 4 hours south of you. As I was spraying, water was dripping out my Tyvek suit. Because I was going forward I didn’t see it until I hit the middle and I started to switch sides. Wrapped my wrists with paper towels and it was solved but I got some minor damage. On the 3rd coat of base the gun stopped spraying paint. There was paint in the gun but it’s not coming out. I stopped at 2 coats and cleaned out the gun. I noticed the vent was blocked, duh. I didn’t have anymore paint since I only bought a quart. It could of used 1 more coat of base but I already dumped it, another mistake. Should of poured it back in the empty can. The clear went on fine but I stopped at 2 coats. I should of finished the quart so I could safely sand away the minor orange peel. Even with sanding and guide coat I still missed some low spots that now look huge. ruclips.net/video/rR-c177vp4Q/видео.html

Great tips , I like the way you point out this is what works for me , and you may have a different way . So true , many techniques , some work and some work better . Temperature, humidity, air pressure, so many factors . What works in Texas may not work in your area . 9:13

The best way I found by far is 2 to 3 light dust coats at low PSI and then the third final coat I lay moderately wet over all of that... and 50% of the time it comes out perfect every time.

Good video.. Thank you. I have a question maybe you can answer for me. Not just in your videos but others too, I have noticed that when spraying clear coat, there seems to be a lot more overspray. Is it just because its clear, that you can see the pattern better than with base, or is it that there is more overspray with clear. I have never shot clear, so i don't know ... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again for the great video...

I remember back in the early days of water-based automotive paints... when Auto-X and everyone else were advertizing how much better they lay out. Nothing has changed... it's still a hassle. On the flip side, tiger stripes in metallics are far less of a problem with water-based paints. Not sure how it helps.

Some say to keep pressure down at 15psi, some say to blast it with a 35psi super wide low paint mist, some say it doesnt matter its the gun your using, some say its because of the temps and humidity and some say its just because your psinting with too heavy of coats.. heard is brcause of dry times between coats.. even heard its because your primer is the incorrect typehuu

Im shortly going to be respraying a new front bumper and both side front fenders, for my car...
Ive sprayed things like BMX frames and alloy wheels in the past, But now i want to make sure i spray my car parts perfectly...
My car is a Dark blue metallic.. (Z168 / 4XU Metro Blue to be exact)...
I have mainly used ebay cheapy HVLP guns in the past, But bought myself a Devilbiss DV1 with a DV1 B+ aircap, to give me every best chance of a perfect job...
Any tips on how to spray it to look perfect?!
I usually spray at around 29psi at around 6-7 inches from panel, for non-metallics...
What would you recommend for my metallic paint bumper / fender job?
Same, more or less pressure than for solid colours?
same distance to panel?!?! further? closer?
2k paint... if thats any help.. I am also using SLOW reducer...
I absolutely need for this to turn out nice.... It sounds silly, But its a pride, sort of thing... I am getting laughed at by family, for attempting it myself, instead of paying a professional to just do it...
I get peer pressured ALOT. etc.. Its just the way my family is.... They like to put me down for everything i do wrong, but i like to learn new things
So i absolutely need this to turn out good..
    Thankyou

Spray the base at around 12 to 15 psi coverage coats 8 inches away .once coverage is good, back away from the panel to about 18 inches at around 10 psi and give it a light coat to lay out the metallic even . For clear 20 to 23 psi hope this helps 💪💪
