      What herson fails to mention is that kongo had missed first golden, was warring since t30 or so and had irrelled out and was being played by a bot at this point.

    Every spotlight you make is really informative. I went from doing random stuff in the early game to actually pushing for essential power spikes on specific leaders because of your videos. Thanks for the bangers you release :)

    I actually dislike how people just play to pad score and not to actually win. It leads to stuff like kingmaking (letting some guy win cuz you don't wanna risk going down in place), teaming on one guy cuz both attackers wanna increase their score, and all the while the top place is just left alone to sim to 1st. It's a lot more fun when people are like "shit i need to stop him so i can try to get first" and team with 2nd and 3rd to try and stop the 1st place, and it also gives the more irrel players in the lobby a chance to catch up. and it becomes a true free for all. now it just feels like "ah i'll let my ally win" and then push some guy who had a rough game.

      Easily the biggest issue with the score based system I can tell is how it's the weakest players that always get the brunt of it. While leaving yourself vulnerable is something that should be punishable it's often so easy for players to just flat out ignore the players doing well because attacking them would be too slow. The score based system is what keeps people from mass leaving when someone takes the lead so getting rid of it would be disastrous but i think it would maybe be worth trying out a system that gives more score to players who capture more developed cities or those belonging to those heading for the lead rather than incentivizing everyone to go for the low hanging fruit.

    Truly beautiful moment when you kill another player not for winning the game, or for ideological purposes, but as a scorewhore. I'm so happy the algorithm sent me to your channel, so many great nuggets of info in here.

    What pantheon did you choose in this game? I'm new to civ6, sorry if this question is inappropriate...

      In this game, I chose Goddess of the Tides, which is added by BBG. It grants +1 culture on all fishing boats. I would've preferred God of the Sea for +1 production on fishing boats instead, but it was already taken by another player.
      The whole reason Goddess of Tides was added to the game was to make it less punishing for naval civs to miss God of the Sea, so in that respect it was doing its job this game.

    Would you still have had a chance to play for first if you could secure the Kilsa?

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  5 месяцев назад +4

      Maybe, but only if I also managed to get Oxford University shortly afterwards (Oxford instantly completes two random techs, which is huge for catching up). I think this would've only been possible if I had been able to get my hands on the renaissance era great engineer Filippo Brunelleschi, who provides an enormous amount of production towards wonders. Without that engineer, Amit beats me to Oxford every time on account of unlocking the required tech to start building it sooner.
      Kilwa Kisiwani wasn't particularly important for me in this game, as many of the city states in the game had been killed by players, and the remaining ones had too many envoys in them to contest. Since I was still holding on to Vilnius and Auckland, Kilwa would've basically amounted to 3 envoys, +15% prod, and +15% culture in cap. Still a good wonder, but a far cry from the best case scenarios where Kilwa Kisiwani really pops off.

      There are two discord links in the description of my video. The first one leads to my fan discord, and the second one leads to CPL, which is the massive multiplayer community in which all of my civ games are played. The process for joining CPL is fairly easy, just join the discord server and follow the simple verification instructions provided there.

    Are BBG polders the single best tile improvement in the game?

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  5 месяцев назад +5

      They have the highest yields in the game for sure, but I think Golf Courses from Scotland might be more impactful. They're unlocked earlier in BBG, at Games and Rec instead of at Reformed Church, and they have 1 more culture yield than in the base game. You can only have one per city and they grant 2 amenities to the city they're built in, and an additional third amenity if they're placed next to an entertainment complex. Scotland can basically settle as many cities as they want and still be on +5 amenities for that juicy 16% multiplier to all stats from very early on, so long as their land has an average amount of luxury resources.
      If I were constructing the strongest civ I could think of just by amalgamating elements from other civs in BBG, it'd look something like this:
      Leader bonus: TeddyBM
      Civ bonus: Maori
      Unique improvement: Golf Course
      Unique building: Grand Bazaar
      Unique unit: Mountie

    Need spotlight game on America

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  5 месяцев назад +3

      I'll try to get one eventually. I want to point out, however, that the American leaders play drastically different from one another in this game - Teddy Bull-Moose and Abraham Lincoln play and feel about as differently from one another as two civs can be.
