I made a written version of this BO for myself, might aswell share it if it helps someone: 00:00 5 on food 1 build a farmhouse on berries and goes on berries Upgrade wheelbarrow 1 Rally to food until 7 0:40 Rally to gold until 4 + blacksmith on gold Food villagers goes on berries when upgrade is done 2:00 Rally to food (sheeps) 2:30 Age up with 3 workers from berries, be careful placement of landmark Move gold workers to stone Rally to wood (small trees) until 8 then rally to food Move sheep workers to wood 3:10 Blacksmith on stone 4:35 Age up finished -> 2 workers goes on berries, 1 worker on farm Small walls if needed Make a barracks with 1 wood guy Upgrade TC Move stone workers on gold + 1 from food 5:00 Make a tower (and upgrade) on gold if needed Start making Onna-bugeisha Spam barracks when you can up to 5 5:50 Harass with Onnas if you can Upgrade wheelbarrow 2 6:30 Wood upgrade + melee damage upgrade Produce 1 melee bannerman 7:30 Berries are gone, go back on sheep 2 from berries goes on gold Upgrade gold mine + melee damage 2 8:30 Produce samurais Wall up completely + make more farms with extra wood Attack I didn't put everything (like the placement of landmark or which landmark to take), I suspect you watched the video!
One thing to add on house placement. If you can leave 4 spots around tc open for farms, you can build houses around that so you still have a short walk for drop off

ive been having loaaads of success with the japanese so far, staying on 1 tc, harassing with onna bugeisha and adding in samurai. I managed to end almost every single game in feudal with just mass melee infantry, it works perfectly fine! denying food is very simple with onna bugeisha's speed and low cost. Im playing a different build order tho, with way earlier harass but i assume a tiiiny bit weaker eco since the daimyo comes up later. but my onnas are on their way at like 5:10 with +2 melee
2 good points in comments. Late game is required for all round skill. However playing the game to finish it early is always the best way to do it but if you come against a good player your bound to be in a late game. I've played as english who have the best archers for feudal rush can generate every 6 seconds with council hall
I tried this Build against a friend and he went zhu xi fast Castle @ min 7, i didnt manage to do much dmg cause he builded towers @ vulnerable points. Then he pushed with Palace guards/ crossbows / Nest of bees and i couldnt stop it. Any tips for this Kind of matchup?

btw in case you wonder why the low damage and armor, the 'onna' units are actually females and the onna-biugeisha literally translated into female fighters.
Cost cost-efficient but do less damage than longbows or archers. Their advantage is movement speed. They can outrun any other archers or infantry so they are good for quick harassment and if they have a big enough headstart can outrun horses all the way back to your base.
6:30 I have to start with the "I am only diamond" but I think rushing the Daimyo (300 stone) that early is useless. By that time farms aren't needed yet for food and the enemy will probably not dive the TC yet. I think favoring more units or castle is better until at least 5 farms spawn or berries and sheep get denied/expire.
The daimyo is not only for the farms bonus, but for the bannermen. With the two forge upgrades + samurai bannermen your onna's got +4 melee damage IN FEUDAL, which is insane.
It's basically about 4 onas worth of resources. If you boost 8 farms by 25% that's 80 resources/minute and a much stronger TC if you are getting raided. It pays for itself outright in 4 minutes and you also get the Bannerman which is a stronger unit and boosts your other units by 15%. The part most people miss is, without that upgrade you'll have less food production to make onas anyway. That extra 80 food/minute is one ona/minute as well.
have you noticed the town hall and the age 2 farm unit, does NOT upgrade in appearance as the age progresses? all other civs their main town hall also changes
Bug? At 7:20 in the video, vills have stone on them and make a mine. They deposit the 52 stone in the mine when the mine finishes, but no bonus gold is awarded. Shouldn't you get 13 gold from that drop-off? You don't.
It is probably the toughest match-up for Japan, you simply need to forgo this build and opt for Yumi Ashigaru+Horsemen and outproduce Zhuge Nu at some point
Also continue to raid with your horsemen, mass Zhuge Nu also means their army is much slower, so if you keep raiding with your horsemen you will put them in a very uncomfortable position where they can't just sit in front of your base and mass units
Wow, Think you broke the game. 5 wins in a row now. Was tower rushed, won that one. Was ship rushed, won that one. I don't see a counter for this. Specially in lower leagues. Maybe HRE with Men-at-arms but oponent needs to know what you gonna do. Well done.
Some Shinobi ideas: Do any of you think Shinobi could be stronger with like a kunai or shuriken attack? I would honestly like to see them be more like assassin units than the weak espionage feel they have currently. Shinobi are the weakest concept with Japanese so far, not executed very well imho. Blinking in on top of vils is ok, but it's not as efficient as using Onna Bugeisha to harass. Anyhoo, just some thots!
this build order seems really flawed against english. all you gotta do is white tower rush the japanese and they have no answer. at 7:30 in beastys game, he barely has enough units to even oppose the construction of the tower. and english vills can shoot japanese infantry anyways
You’re wrong fortunately. I’ve stopped a few white tower rushes pumping out samurai. Spamming rams too even after that tower goes up and i win everytime

@@iitzwaffleshe's mad because guides makes new players more competitive. But if you're good, it makes no difference. Guides only help till early feudal, after that the battles are too varied.

I really like that japanese allows easily for infantry compositions of more than just 2 units that synergize well off each other.

The point of 1V1 is to win.

i keep the 4 workers on gold unil they've mined enough gold for wheelbarrow and double braud axe, then switch to stone

What you do against mongols archery cavalary? They simply run away e the ona's don't have the same speed of the horsed archers
Those mangudai are just still broken. They honestly need to be nerfed again. Archers are your best bet against them but even then they still run away.

The TC doesn't because you have to upgrade it to a manor and so on, and the upgrade changes it's appearance.
