Ah yes, the classic.
Pachycephalosaurus means "thick head lizard" in latin, so with "swollen head dragon" they got it almost correct, as they translated all "saurus" as "dragon".

i believe the toys have those atrocious names because they're translated directly from Chinese, and in Chinese, dinosaurs are known as "terrible dragons" instead of "terrible lizards".
I still have no fucking idea how did they get nail art dragon and beast tyrannosaurus, ankylosaurus is called "armour dragon" or something in Chinese

I have many questions about these knockoffs, but my biggest one is; WHY CAN THEY NOT USE THEIR REAL NAMES, THEIR NOT COPYRIGHTED THAT IS LITERALLY WHAT WE CALL THEM!
I will give the 3D LED dinosaur night light a bit of a break as they did use a real dinosaurs name but that dinosaur is obviously a Baryonyx judging by the massive claw fingers.

I think the names come from a bad translation, as they probably have unique chinese names, which don't represent the real name. The Dragon comes from the fact that in chinese the word Dinosaur has the word Dragon incorporated, or in this case the symbol not word.
Another theory, which might be true for some names, is that the chinese name might be a translation from the english translation, which got translated back to english, probably using Google translate or something like that.
Edit: I hope this clears some stuff up! But this doesn't excuse the "knockoffing" and bad quality!
I like how your very informative post (and yes, these names indeed come from Chinese translations) is the only one not liked by SpinoDude amidst a sea of liked ones. That's really interesting, to say the least. lol

Sure, the nail art dragon comes from the Chinese name 甲龙 which means armored dinosaur（make sence right？）, but 甲 could also be translated to nails and 龙 could also be translated into dragon so thats how it came about.
