I think the weirdest thing to me about Deinocheirus is the fact that it’s an Ornithomimusaur. All its cousins are relatively small, very fast, and very adaptable. Deinocheirus is the exact opposite of all of those things. A huge duck with gigantic arms and devastating claws is pretty badass tho.
Depending on the flora in their habitats, I like to think Therizinosaurs would skewer certain softer plants and make clawbabs to access hard to reach foods (under water, too high on too strong branches, in thorny bushes, etc.), avoid lowering their heads down to ground level, or lessen consumption of the inedible parts of plants. There's not much evidence at all to suggest this, but how cool would it be if they also used those claws to drum out fancy beats, or exercise their sketch art skills to attract mates? Imagine a musical /artistic dinosaur...
One weird dinosaur I like is the Shunosaurus. You have your claasic long neck sauropod... But the tail ends in a hammer bone like if it were an ankylosaur.
To be fair, we don’t know if there was some kind of keratin sheath on the clause of these dinosaurs. It’s entirely possible that not only where they larger than we think, but that they were much less brittle.
One of the strangest creatures is that little spiky thing that you know the one 30 legs 18 back legs it looked like something out of a prehistoric nightmare
Still waiting to learn about the mysterious, "Tri-secro-plox" mentioned in JP III. Also, imagine all the giant insects or giant spiders that did not leave any fossils that must have existed. I don't believe Brontos (yeah I call them Brontos)... and those types just ate plants. I bet they ate big bugs... LOTS of big bugs! Who knows? Maybe giant roaches existed to the point of roaching out the entire planet... Being a huge food source for the dinos.... But imagine.... A spider bigger than a car.... the webs such things could make... *shudder*
Arthropods can only get to a certain size on land because of the way that they breathe. Instead of having lungs, they have spiracles, or little holes along their body that oxygen just passively enters into their blood from. Because of this, larger arthropods require larger spiracles to get enough oxygen, but too large spiracles basically act as open wounds, where it is far easier for pathogens, parasites, and other contaminants to enter the bloodstream. The carboniferous was the period in Earth's history when oxygen levels were at their highest and there were some gigantic bugs on land, but those were pushing the limits of what the arthropod body could sustain, and once oxygen levels decreased they gradually lost their huge size or died out. Crustaceans in the ocean are able to get so big because they have gills that actively draw oxygen from the water, and the water also helps them support their soft bodies after they molt. An insect the same size as a king crab would be crushed under the weight of its own body if it were to molt.
11:11 I remember a documentary that covered that fact, along with similar ones for a Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops species, but I cant remember the name of it. Anyone know what it was?
Something interesting is that theres a theory that the therizinasaurids evolved from a relative of the tyrannosaurs that transitioned to a herbivorous lifestyle.
If this theory really exists, then it's REALLY wrong. Therizinosaurids are actually more closely related to Alvarezsaurids, splitting off from them after after the ornithomimosaurids and tyrannosaurids.
@@darkonyx6995 Ah. Well the theory was a good several years ago so would make sense it was wrong. Still makes you wonder if any dinosaurs have ancestors that transitioned from carnivorous to herbivorous over millions of years.
For the first dinosaur, what if they used their claws to break open termite mounds like ant eaters? Or were termites not where they lived back then, idk
"The Carnotaurus arms must've been useless" 5:43 Wrong. it was used to style all over the other dinos on the dance floor. Look at your puny legs and long arms, you couldn't keep up with such grace and precision. Know when you're beat.

I’m surprised nobody even mentioned the elephant in the room aka the elephant who has a trunk that can open because it’s actually it’s mouth
It's very difficult to take a carnasaurus seriously seeing those little arms flailing about trying to get sempai to notice them.
Coming back to this and watching how the Dunkleosteus part basically aged like milk is hilarious
I'd love to see this guy do like top 5 dinosaurs that would make a good pet

BTW Good Video
5:17 .... no? More recent studies show they didn't look anything like sharks and were no where near the size we thought.
This video was out before the shrunk of the dunk.
what would be prehistoric animals we'd have the best chances against?
So because of what you said about Mononykus in the video, does that mean it and other alvaresauridae are closely related to archeopteryx?
No. They're both avian dinosaurs. That's about it.
What I meant was since both of them are closely related to birds does that mean they're also closely related to each other
Your underrated
For the first dinosaur, what if they used their claws to break open termite mounds like ant eaters? Or were termites not where they lived back then, idk
They're herbivores and if anything they're more akin to sloth and their extinct giant relatives though
Whats the song that’s playing at 2:51?
This is one funky lookin dinosauur 😜
