- Gustav Mahler, born on July 7, 1860, in Kalischt, Bohemia (now Czech Republic), was a renowned composer and conductor of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the realm of classical music.
From a young age, Mahler displayed extraordinary musical talent, showcasing his proficiency on the piano and violin. He pursued formal musical education at the Vienna Conservatory, where he studied composition and conducting. During this time, he also developed a deep appreciation for the works of Ludwig van Beethoven and Richard Wagner, whose musical styles significantly influenced his own compositions.
Mahler's career took off when he landed his first conducting position in 1880, and he went on to lead prestigious orchestras in various cities across Europe, including Budapest, Hamburg, and Vienna. As a conductor, he was known for his meticulous attention to detail and innovative interpretations, often pushing the boundaries of musical expression.
However, it was as a composer that Mahler truly left an indelible mark on the world of music. His symphonies, characterized by their epic scale and emotional intensity, explored profound themes such as life, death, and the human condition. Mahler's compositions often incorporated diverse musical elements, including folk melodies, military marches, and even elements of Jewish klezmer music.
Despite his professional success, Mahler's personal life was marked by numerous hardships. He experienced the loss of several family members, including the death of his daughter Maria and the deteriorating health of his wife, Alma. These personal tragedies deeply influenced his compositions, infusing them with a sense of melancholy and introspection.
Mahler's works were initially met with mixed reviews, as they challenged the traditional conventions of classical music. However, his reputation as a composer grew steadily, particularly in the years following his death in 1911. Mahler's compositions, with their emotional depth and profound exploration of the human experience, have since become cherished and frequently performed works in the classical repertoire.
Gustav Mahler's legacy endures to this day, with his music captivating audiences and inspiring countless musicians and composers. His innovative approach to composition and his unwavering commitment to artistic expression have firmly established him as a towering figure in the annals of classical music history.

Todas as suas obras são o seu melhor......
Esse cara se dedicava muito......
agree
Shut up, you condescending snob
I agree
👍
Escuchar a Mahler por la mañana es empezar el día con energía, y escucharlo por la noche, ya es el apoteosis final. Uno no se cansa nunca.
Someone give this man a Grammy.
This mix is the best for someone to study that I ever found.
haha-It may indeed be great, but it's not a "mix" it's one symphony.
Какая мура...
in love with this mans work
simply magnificent...
😊😊
no me canso de Mahler
I am new to GM. I listen to this and the thought which comes to mind is, "If Christopher Nolan were a composer, his music would sound like Gustav Mahler's creations."
You GO, Dupert! You do know your Music ... and your Mahler!
*-* ein traum ist das
Brilliant.

Absulut fantastisch! 👍👍👍Vielen Dank für die Möglichkeit des Hörens dieses wunderschönen Musikwerkes! 🌹
Simplemente transportador😇💓😌😌😌😌😌
Precisamente......BRAVI desde Acapulco!
Such a shame there is nothing of his fifth symphony in here! Most people recognize the fourth movement (for example from the film "Morte a Venezia"), but the last part of it is also extremely pleasing to hear!
Yeah. A "best of" would definitely need the final climax of the 2nd and the "adagietto" from the 5th
mahler died 99 years and 357 days before I was born (i am now 9)
that's more than one second
Wow
👍👍
Usually these best of videos are multiple works of various types of compositions, not just one symphony...
@25:18 came the inspiration for the intro theme of Golden Harvest Films
More like BAHLER 😎
So the “best” of Mahler is just his 1st symphony?
13:22 to skip the loooong intro
don't do it 😱
Sacrilegious
Thank you!
jajajajajaja
MAYBE consider taking off monetization from this video? There's nothing like the music suddenly stopping to be replaced by a man saying "you can't get in shape without doing cardio, well now you....." My cat was very startled by this. I'm only playing this in the first place to try to make him happy.
Why don't you change the name of this video to symphony No. 1 - Gustav Mahler. Because that is what it is. No "best of" here.

And tell to please forget the confusing ad about playing the piano.
Is it just me or am I hearing the theme music to Star Trek here in this first track? What is this first track does anyone know? Mahler is so under rated - his music is just incredible!
Yes,,,,"These are the voyages..."
😂
Music to slit your wrist by.
yes, definitely. specifically star trek II with that opening chord
I can hear that as well. And it is only fitting. Mahler's music has always struck me as both ahead of it's time and otherworldly
I can't share what I've found here due to youtube policy but I googled this and you are indeed correct! He was the influence behind star trek theme.
1860-1911
What is on between 28 min and 35 min ? 34:59
The 1st, while a great piece of music, isn't his best. Go with the 2nd, 3rd, 8th, or 9th.
What is the song around 16:00?
"Ging heut morgen übers feld" is the according song that is quoted in the first symphony
