I have a brooch I would like to send u ick of maybe you can tell me designer. Any info would be appreciated. Where or what address should I send to. I bought at estate sale for .50 when jeweler looked at it he appraised at 1700.00 that he as 8 years ago
Thanks for putting research videos together. .
@@dawnmorning you're welcome
"I'm sorry if I pronunciate it wrong" LOL gotta love it.
Karl Lagerfeld was the head designer at Jean Patou, Chloe, Fendi and Chanel. He is considered one of the greatest designers ever. His designs under his own name are undervalued. As he passed away in 2019 they will continue to increase. If you see his jewelry grab it! It is the same quality as Chanel but not as common.
You have by far the most information for anyone reselling or collecting. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos.
I appreciate that!
A friend of mine was going to give a donation to Goodwill...just some old jewelry, but did I want it? Yes, yes I did. Several Haskell, Eisenberg, Trifari, lots of gold cufflinks other gold pieces and on and on. Made thousands of dollars! I split it with her and she is super happy and you know what? She has more! I also helped her clear out all the other stuff that she wanted to donate, rooms and rooms of some good stuff but 80% junk and garbage...and I did weeks and weeks of research on the things that looked promising, including vintage dolls and old photos, items that in my opinion are hard to research if you know nothing about them. But well worth it and I learned a lot about all these important niches.
That is awesome!!
I couldn't believe the brooch at 3:04 sold for that much even though it was "unbranded." No characteristics of Juliana (never marked) or other designers I know of. I thought I saw something on the pin, and took a closer look. The signature is clearly there. It's Oscar de la Renta. The seller missed it (or would have put it in the description instead of hearts), but the buyer must not have. If you ever have a brooch in hand, always run your fingers along the pin. Several designers signatures are there. Great video!
Thanks for the tip greatly appreciated!
Karl Lagerfeld was the designer for Chanel starting in the early 80’s and then he went off on his own and created his own pieces. Very pricey but also knocked off a lot. Pay attention to quality (heavy pieces, very well made) or else don’t pay more than you aren’t willing to lose.
Good to know!
It's none of my business, but PLEASE give your sweet son some love and attention! He is small for a short time! He needs so loving. I love your channel!
I quit my job to do this to be home with him all the time, he gets tons I promise
@@TheNurseFlipper In a couple of your videos he just looks so forelorn in the background like he's so bored and lonely! I"m glad that you give him plenty of attention! He looks like my grandson when he was small, he's now in high school.
@@openyoureyes4799 lol lol it's cause he wants to come in with me to record videos then hates being quiet but I would rather him be around than make him stay in the house with daddy. I always let him pick if he comes with me to record
The jewelry group I belong to was blessed to have the Granddaughter in law of Henry Schreiner as a member until 2 years ago when she passed away at 92 years young. Their son is still a member. One of their biggest pet peeves was eBay sellers claiming to have unmarked Schreiner when it clearly was not and they do reach out to people. The pieces that were not marked are the designs they created for fashion houses as embellishments on clothing etc. and this is why some pieces are so large. Schreiner has very unique findings on the back and you can study this to help you. Obviously they were thrilled to see the prices and collectibility that their pieces demanded. 🥰
Thank you much appreciated
@@TheNurseFlipper You are very welcome ❣️ One more thing that I thought was cute, Teresa Schreiner was very proud that she actually invented and started the craze of the Rivioli rhinestones ( or inverted ). These rhinestones are set with the points up so they always get your attention. Until she tried it one day, no one had ever used rhinestones in that way. 😊
Schreiner at 3:10
Southern Mermaid love the info! Is your jewelry group online? Would love to join!
@@dawnieb.7394 Hello, The group is actually in the eBay community boards. Jewelry and Gemstones Board Group. I joined back in 2015 to learn more about vintage jewelry and I sure did that, the ladies ( and a few men ) are very knowledgeable, but they are also super friendly, so I ended up making lifelong friends. Let me know if you have any questions. Hope to see you there soon. 🥰
Unfreaking believable prices on all these brooches! I love this new series of learning more about a certain item! I bought 5 vintage super hero pillow cases today! They will be my first eBay auctions! 🤞
So happy you like them! They're a lot of work but so fun to make!
Your first video on brooches popped up last night. I have to thank you for giving me my reselling mo-jo back. I love brooches & have loads of them. So many my jewlery "cabinet" is to full. I'm learning from you & I'm exited to be searching for these gems! I found something to sell that won't take up SO much space! I'm STOKED! Thank you for your inspiration!
I'm so happy to hear that and happy you found the second one! Check the linen one I did a couple weeks ago too you'll be amazed!
@@TheNurseFlipper Linens are my Jam! I sold a lot over the years! I will be watching!
These prices are blowing my mind
for sure
I could not care less about pronunciation. You do so much for us, thank you, Kat. Hi Dalton!!!😘😁🙂
Thank you so much
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS ONE!!! Also would enjoy ANY of your research videos, you do make it all so interesting, informative & entertaining!!! Please don't worry about the pronunciations, Kat! ❤
Thanks I will be doing more for sure!
Hi!
Just discovered you and love your educational videos!!! I've collected vintage costume jewelry for decades and I can't believe how much the values are increasing! I'm a fan of YOU and all the sparkles! I'll definitely keep watching!
YAY thanks so much, glad you found me!
Awww I missed your premiere! These brooches are incredible and the brands are definitely on my BOLO list now! Special thank you Kat for all the hard work you put into making this video for us. You’re amazing and really work your tail off to make sure nobody’s left behind. 😘
You are so welcome!
Schiaparelli: (SKAP-ə-REL-ee, SHAP-ə-REL-ee.) Any of these will do! The first is an Italian pronunciation; the second is the English pronunciation. 🤗
Karl Lager(like the beer)feld (like you felled a tree)
It's a good idea to get familiar with the names and the proper pronunciation. It adds to your credibility as a knowledgeable utuber. Here to help!
The Schreiner at 27:38 was so much $ because it’s a book piece. A jewelry expert must have written about it and did all the attributions. Some people collect only book pieces and there aren’t a ton of them so that makes their prices even higher.
That's interesting thank you! Sorry I haven't gotten back to your emails but not ignoring you been down and out for a while!
What does it mean to be a book piece
@@isabellavalencia8026 hi there! A “book piece” means it appears in a book written about the jewelry line, or in a chapter about the jewelry line. For example, if a book is titled Costume Jewelry Galore and one of the chapters talks about Schreiner jewelry and has a picture of a brooch, then that brooch is now a “book piece”. It’s been referenced in a book by jewelry experts and for jewelry collectors. Some collectors want only book pieces. So they can be more valuable sometimes. Hope that help!!
@@sarsarsvintagejewelry thank you so much!!
Thank you for doing all that research. It is so appreciated and helpful to us "newbies". I'm gaining more confidence with each video.
You are so welcome!
Thank you for putting in all this work and sharing it with us! GOD bless you!
You are so welcome
I just start last week I'm $300 in & I found a dog jelly belly & vintage Christian Dior chain..& A vintage Ralph lauren gold tone choker & a Telfair chain...& 2 Heidi Daus bracelets & earrings sets...So proud of myself & some other $20 to $80 pieces...Basically I spend $300 but I have $2500 to $3000 worth of jewelry...love this game
Very nice finds!
Very informative presentation with Nurse Mom's kid appearing belatedly at the back. M sure your kid is subliminally learning from your talk and might end up as a jewelry mogul some day! God bless.
Very possibly, he loves the Video making part of it the most lol
again just have to say how much I love these research vids, so so helpful!!
Glad you like them!
My mother luved her Trifari jewelry. All she wanted for Christmas late 1960s early 1970s. Could get at finer department stores we pronounced Tra [short A] fari
Thank you!
Thanks so much for another awesome program. Not surprised that the Karl Lagerfeld pieces went for so much. He was the creative force behind modern Chanel designs for years. He passed away in 2019.
That makes sense for sure
Wow!!!
The winning bids on those brooches are unreal. Thanks for sharing all info. I sure would like to a cigar box full of some of those.
yeah crazy for sure
Kat, I have been collecting my brooches for 50 years. Thank you for giving me some idea of what they may be worth. I collected ones that appealed to me. So I didn't purposely look for signed ones. Now I wish I had.
You are so welcome!
The unbranded was a Gripoix
Not all Eisenberg go for as much. That name is not always a home run. The one at 13:47 sold so well because it is a fur clip, it is an early Eisenberg (can tell by the signature) and it is very colorful and the condition is impeccable. The newer ones in all clear and with a stamped signature still being sold money, $30-$50 but they aren’t all worth several hundred.
Thanks appreciate it!!!
Absolutely amazing! Once again, I learned so much. Thank you, Kat, for taking the time for all of the research to teach us about these valuable pieces!
You are so welcome!
During the Depression era , many great jewlers did their work in costume jewelry but put the same quality workmanship in the pieces . These are very collectable. When you pronounce the word pave it isn't like pave a road it's pa like a dad and ve is a v with long a . Carl Lagerfeld is pronounced like the beer larger . Trifari is pronounced Tre short e not long i .
Amazingly informative videos on costume jewelry Kat. Love the knowledge you share with us. Thank you!
.
You are so welcome!
Kat thank you so much for all your research that you do . I have to sit down with all the pins I have collected over the years and some of my grandmother’s blessings to you and your family.

You're welcome!
Thank you for all the amazing reserch you do. so much fun So much info!!
You are so welcome!
Chances of getting any of these very high end, perfect condition, costume jewelry pieces in the wild is VERY rare. These are highly collectible and many can only be purchased from private sellers. I did buy some Eisenberg large fur clips that sold for good money, but again they were bought privately.
I found florenza for $20 at the flea market and I also find some on online auctions :D
@@TheNurseFlipper Florenza is not in the same category as these shown, but yes it is possible once in a blue moon to find a book piece.
Sandra that may be, but it's still great information and so fun to learn about regardless!
Fantastic, so educational. My eyes are open! Thanks
YAY

Thanks so much!
Still reeling from part 1. It just gets better and better!... Thanks for yet another jaw dropping video. Looking forward to the trinket boxes 🤗
Yes for sure and I'm looking forward to researching them
Loved the video! Great source of information and very helpful as I go through the brooches I have inherited myself. A few words of wisdom from someone who has worked in the jewelry industry..."Cabochon" is simply describing the cut of the stone-it means it is a rounded off, shaped and polished cut rather than faceted. Rarely, if ever, will you find jade in anything other than a cabochon. The size of the cabochon is what becomes a "wow" factor as the larger a stone is, the more costly it becomes. Thank you for taking time to go through these for us!
Thanks, appreciate the info
I loved these two videos. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.
Loved this video & your research skills that you share with us!
Happy to hear
Yes I’ve bought books on these types of designers, including 1 specifically on MH!
Yes I love her pieces
This was awesome! Thank you soo much for sharing this knowledge.

Trifari pin was a Crown Trifari which is higher than Trifari alone.
Awesome video and so much good information!
Glad it helped!
I found my first Trifari and Monet vintage for $15 and $25 that I can double$ and a gorgeous Heyes for $2 and a beautiful green uranium for $2 this week at svdp. The Heyes has 2 thistles, lovers knot and what looks like a comet, the uranium is square in shape but wears angled. Can't find anything on the last two 😢 and hanging on to them until I know what I have. Thank you for your knowledge and channel, appreciate you❤.
You're welcome hope you find something soon+
Thanks so much for sharing all this amazing research that you did on brooches and pins!!
I've just purchased a few lots still inside their old jewelry boxes at a newly discovered online auction source and I'm so excited to receive them and begin the process of figuring out what each is worth and how best to sell them. Probably some I'll sell as a lot and some will be individually.
This is going to be super helpful in the future too when I'm gaging the potential of a lot and whether or not I should buy it.
One questions though, do you clean your brooches and jewelry or do you just wipe it using a cloth and consider it the buyer's responsibility to do the deep clean on their purchased items?
Love, love, love you and your channel! Keep up the stellar work my friend! I'm taking notes and learning and hope to also make videos soon too.
Many Blessings, DivyaLove
I don't do any deep cleanings, thanks for watching
Larry Vrba was the head designer for Miriam Haskell in the late 1960's-1970s. Also watch William DeLillo ... very spendy. I collect.

"Vrba" is a genuine Czech SURNAME! (I know the language: and it's bigger on consonants than on vowels. 🙂)
Interesting!
Omg...that winter white brooch was gorgeous!!!
It was!
It's my intention to stick with items 6" and smaller to resell. Vintage broaches are ideal. Art deco/art nouveau are my passions. I'm finally opening up to vintage 50s & 60s styles. So these were so in my wheelhouse. THANK YOU. A coffee is on the way.
You can do it! Thanks so much !
Your ventriloquist puppet moved.
Thank you so much Kat for sharing your research. I had no idea. Looking forward to learning about trinket boxes. ❤

Hobe is French, pronounced oh-bay
Actually Hobe like 'lobe, strobe, node' etc.
@@sandrabentley8111 No, the maker’s name is Hobe’ with an accent on the e. He was French and it’s pronounced oh-bay.
2:52 is unsigned Schreiner. Collectors can find them even without the correct title, and they'll bid it up.
Yup.
Love the research videos
Happy to hear!
You can actually look up design patents by number online at the US patent office. Early Trifari and some early Coro were frequently patented designs. Trifari and Coro poached designers from the likes of Cartier, since they wanted to leave Europe in the run-up to WW2.
thanks so much good to know
