Good morning. I have a question. I know most items like these sell best at auction. But if your relativly new to ebay like I am and you put something up for auction it's probably not going to get alot of coverage. Am I correct in thinking this way? I watched one of your videos where you sold alot of crab brooches and other valuable glass, crystal and jewelry art and you said something to the effect that it helps to send out newsletters or notifications? I've only been reselling for a couple months and my sales are not bad butt I've had zero luck with anything I've tried at auction. I really want to understand how this market works and honestly you seem to be the best at these little niches and at very high, consistent profit margins. What is the best approach to auctioning items off and getting your items into a place of high visibility? I have not gotten a stone subscription yet but I do plan to in the near future.

@@GreenLion419 I put very very few items on auction. You need to see a history of that specific brand and item selling on auction well otherwise I recommend buy it now. I do 95% buy it now it is rare I do auctions and for new people I recommend doing mainly buy it now

Just to avoid confusion for people, "peint main" is not a place in France, it is a phrase that means hand-painted or painted completely by hand. You can find this phrase on many French pieces, not simply Limoges. It is just telling you that the piece is hand-painted.

    • @LisaGWoods
      @LisaGWoods 2 года назад +1

Ty for the clarification! I was already associating it with Limoges. Not that I expect to trip over one any time soon but you never know!

    • @danazaruba268

As I live in France I also can help with pronunciation. Peint main is pronounced more closely like Pan man with very little emphasis on the final “n”.

I’ve noticed a lot of incorrect definition of terms, a lot of mispronunciation of names and other easily preventable errors in your videos that diminish your credibility. As a nurse you should have been trained to pay attention to detail and accuracy. That should also apply to your videos if you want to put yourself out there as a self-proclaimed “ expert.”

A small chest or box (as for jewels). Who knew??? You are having a huge growth in your business ✨️ congratulations 🎊. You work your butt off. It shows! Then you share with everyone. You are a kind and generous woman. ❤️

    Hello. "Casket"
You probably already have learned this by now but the reason that you often see the word casket in association with the trinket box is it is referring to the way that the Box opens. It opens like a casket. So often times people will include that word because that is the kind of opening and closure

I love the perspective of 'There's plenty out there and here's what to look for!'
I have already run across a pair of ceramic figurines I know I saw on one of y'all's posts-wish I could remember whose it was and when. I didn't buy it because I have no way to start a business like this, and nonroom at the inn to put them somewhere at this time, but boy am I enjoying the honing of my eye. Kirk’s Folly is a brand that was sold on QVC. I worked at a QVC call center for a couple of seasons, about 10 years ago.

So interesting! I want to run not walk to the estate sales, antique stores etc. and look for these valuable finds. The Kirk's Folly I first saw in the early 2000's on QVC as a whimsical jewelry line. Who knew so many designers and so many themes? Thank you. ☘️

Even if I wasn't a reseller, this would be fascinating! It's just so interesting to me what people will pay the big bucks for. Like what is it with the bedazzled seafood?? I mean, I get it with the Disney trinket boxes, there's emotion attached to it, but lobsters and crabs??

I've sold a few old, elegant jewelry boxes I used the term casket for. That's an old fashioned term that was NOT a synonym for a normal jewelry box. A casket was usually large (cigar box size but deeper), at least fairly ornate, and expensive. I don't think the term was popular after the 1920s, but if it fits the piece, it's appropriate to use.

Kirks Folly has large following. They do jewlery, hair ornaments, eye glasses, chimes & more. They have their own website, sell on QVC, as well as in stores.

Hi, I thought you'd like to know how these are actually pronounced. (we're all learning from each other). Staffordshire is pronounced " Stafford + Sheer " in England.
Thibault is pronounced " Tea + Bo "(not Bow, which is a long O. Just a short o.) Paint Main means Hand Painted and is pronounced without the "t" and "n" endings. They are silent.
So just stop short right before the "t" and "n" and you've got it right. Bonbonniere you had correct the first time. It does indeed end in "air", so " bon-bonny-air". Guilloche is pronounced "Ghee + yush" ( to rhyme with hush and flush). Cloisonne is "Clwah + zonnay" (as opposed to "cloy"). Kewpie is "Cue + pee", not pie. You're too young to remember kewpie dolls. (Actually, they were before my time too.)
(btw, the Pillini lady is playing a mandolin) The "plush box" the tiger trinket box referred to is correct with regards to the dictionary definition of plush as "adjective: richly luxurious and expensive".
Now I have a question for you with regards to the three Siamese cat trinket boxes. (I've never even heard of the "See no evil/Hear no evil/Say no evil" done in anything but monkeys before, so that's a new one on me.) Since the numbers differ underneath (67/750, 127/750, 87/750), does this not mean that they are from different sets? In other words, bought separately as opposed to bought together as a complete set of the same number? And if so, does that not affect the price somewhat? I would think it would be less valuable than a true set. Do you know?
Also, I'm a bit confused by this and thought you might be able to explain it to me. On a lot of the French trinket boxes, they write Paint Main (hand painted) in french, then follow it with Made in France (in English). This seems really peculiar to me. I would have thought the whole thing would be written in french if it's authentic. This switch in language sets my spider senses tingling.
What are your thoughts? Looking forward to your answers with bated breath. Love your channel. New to it but subscribed right away

They were different numbers in the line each was done separetly it doesn't matter if they were bought together or not and no I don't think nit would affect the price. I think it sold regardless of having both and that's the main thing. I don't overthink things too much.
