  • "Money" is a song by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It was written by the band's primary lyricist, Roger Waters, and was released as a single in 1973. The song is also featured on Pink Floyd's critically acclaimed album "The Dark Side of the Moon," which was released in the same year.
"Money" is known for its distinctive sound, including the iconic cash register and coin sounds that are heard throughout the track. The lyrics of the song explore the themes of wealth, greed, and the impact of money on society. The chorus famously declares, "Money, it's a gas / Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash."
The song became one of Pink Floyd's most successful and well-known tracks, and it remains a classic in the rock genre. The innovative use of sound effects, time signatures, and the overall musical composition contributed to its enduring popularity.

Y'all's collective reaction, each admitting you succumbed to a common, human defense mechanism, let's call it the urge to _Avoid the Floyd,_ was totally heartwarming to witness. Thank you for expressing that aversion & for giving the band a chance to work their magic spells on you.
    Now. DO. _Time._

🧙...Please, if/when you do decide to react to _Time_ please do the album/studio version from 1973. The 50th anniversary edition might be okay, but I can't say for sure bc I haven't really paid attention. Other years, like 2011? Remastered? & live versions, etc don't seem to maintain the correct tempo during the build-up for maximum intensity. Then, when it does hit, it seems like it's not as pronounced as it should be. I could be completely mental saying this, but that's what it feels like to me & I just _had_ to at least make an attempt to not spoil it for myself.

The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. You've only experienced the tip of the Pink Floyd music iceberg. All their music is beautiful, even the songs that rock hard, and they all have deep meaning. I very much hope you keep listening. It's mind expanding stuff.
With regards to your discussion: "If a man has an apartment stacked to the ceiling with newspapers we call him crazy. If a woman has a trailer house full of cats we call her nuts. But when people pathologically hoard so much cash that they impoverish the entire nation we put them on the cover of Fortune magazing and pretend that they are role models." I wish I knew who said this. 🤘🏽💗

The best way to listen to Pink Floyd is to listen to the full album. Many times their songs flow from one to the next with no break. "Money", I believe, is the only song on the Dark Side of the Moon album that stands alone. It's an experience, not just the songs. Try "Shine On You Crazy Diamond, parts 1-4". That's an experience I think you'll enjoy!

Technically I wasn't even a teen in the 70's but as the second to the youngest of 7 kids this is what I grew up listening to.
The Dark Side of the Moon is certified 14 times platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 984 weeks. As of 2013, The Dark Side of the Moon had sold over 45 million copies worldwide, making it the band's best-selling release, the best-selling album of the 1970s, and the fourth-best-selling album in history.

I was the same. I am the second youngest, but we had 37 foster kids, my parents had three biological children and adopted 3. One of the adopted children what's a teenager and Cherokee Indian who I hung out with all the time and went to the record stores with and some concerts. Also with other family members as in cousins and aunts and uncle's. We still go to concerts together and there's a lot of musicians in my family. One of my cousins just recorded with Michael McDonald a few weeks ago. I grew up in a big hippie family.

Guys, don't apologize for missing on this. It's completely understandable to us. Excellent reaction and commentary guys to this Pink Floyd classic. The Dark Side of the Moon LP was mind blowing when it debuted in '73, waaay ahead of its time, and is considered one of the greatest LPs ever conceived, regardless of genre. It is a thematic masterpiece that's intended to be listened to in a single sitting in its intended order, since one song flows to the next (headphones/ear buds are a must). "Money" was the biggest commercial hit from this effort, but every other song is phenomenal, especially "Time." I hope you'll do a full album reaction, even if you have to do so in several uploads -- just be sure to listen to each song in their correct order to make sense of the various themes (which include death, conflict, greed, loneliness, madness, and desperation). ✌️☮️

The talking in the background was Roger Water's creative twist to his music. He asked people about the last fight they were in and if they thought they were right. That's why you hear "I was certainly in the right", and "he was cruisin for a bruisin". Roger does all kinds of crazy things like that to throw you off, but it works so well. Whether it be an alarm clock, a metronome, or some interview he's recorded, he's always trying to push the envelope.

My brothas, talk about opening minds and hearts to new music. 2 years ago, I began my exploration of the rabbit hole of rap music, and omg I'm so glad I did! My music library is so much more enriched. My library isn't complete without the likes of Tupac, Dre, Snoop, Exibit. I can go on, but the point is, I have a wide open mind to nearly all genres of music. And a scientific proven fact is, people who regularly listen to multiple genres of music have higher IQs. That's a fact. It's good for the mind and good for the soul. Let's all open our minds and elevate our IQs through the universal language of MUSIC....

Many people criticize the 70s for being all about long guitar solos. The 80s were so sacchirine sweet and poppy, we forget that true rock, was perfected in the 70s. Since all modern music is just variations on the blues, blue will infiltrate all genres of music, even country and rap. All guitarists know, learn the blues, and that will teach you rock and roll.

Listening to Dark Side of the Moon all the way through can be as mind expanding as an acid trip. And I've had experience of both. There is a reason I had to buy that album three times it kept being stolen. Love your reaction.

You guys are fun. I’m in your generation but grew up initially on 80’s rock and came across just enough 70’s on the radio to know and appreciate the difference. I’ve always struggled to hear the words so going back now and reading along is helpful to hear the message

Did you notice some of the lyrics in this song Money are used in the film clip in your reaction video of Another Brick in The Wall ? They are used in the scene where the teacher is reading out loud the students poem. The poem's words are lyrics from this song.

They put their thoughts into practise also. After the wall, the community the kids came from in the video were allowed access to the Floyd Studios free of charge.

Would have been funny if the song was Have a Cigar after Corey made his mistake saying Pink in the wall 😆. Yeah guys, any song from Dark Side of The Moon you will not go wrong with. Though, Have a Cigar is a great choice too. It's a shame that I can't recommend you do all of your 70's rock with lyric videos when you aren't doing a live performance. Too many people who do those lyric videos mess up the lyrics and/or spell words incorrectly. Oh and if you do the Comfortably Numb song live at Pulse, be advised that they are older during it ( it is in 1994 ) and while David Gilmore sounds pretty much the same, the other person who sings on the album version Roger Waters, isn't there at that concert. The solo is unbelievable though and well worth checking out! Thanks for your reactions guys!

The 70s were the time of Progressive Rock where the groups fused so much that had come before.
