I guess she is proof that we in the West love “Indians,” for a reason as I know they’ve done so much with so little, relatively quickly, over there in India. Sadly, because unlike the Chinese, Hindustan, much like the West has built-in Hindu society the belief of Karma which Christianity also tries to teach us through the “Life After Death, and Judgement after death,” allegory, India will take at least 100, if not 200 years to take its rightful place as the leader of the world since unlike China we, won’t take slaves and enslave either our own or any minorities just to get rich quick.

She made such a massive difference, not just medically, but in society. I'm sure that thanks to her more and more doctors behaviour changed for the better and the same about people, common citizens. India you had a great doctor, a great activist, a great woman who imprived the country. Don't forget about her, she is a perfect example of how to be as a person, as a professional, as a partner. Greetings from Italy.
It hurt me when I came to know that Doctor is no more...... I was taken back when She said, '' I love my husband for 43 years''. She was really an ideal woman. She is no more is a lost of humanity. 💔 Respect from Pakistan
That was one of the best docs I have ever seen. Very touching & romantic. My best friend died of AIDS in the 80s when AIDS first came out. I am extremely pleased they have meds for this disease.
This doctor is what every doctor ought to be.... one who treats the patient as a whole person, seeing their humanity irregardless of their diagnosis, not merely doling out meds to treat a symptom. Western doctors could learn a thing or two. Listening to Karthik giggle like a school boy when attempting to describe his feelings.... priceless. My heart has been made joyful.

I was implying in my original comment that as we are taught about great medical people like Y.Subba Rao from India this Doctor should've also been mentioned in our curriculum. I only came to know about her in youtube, she wasn't mentioned once in our community medicine textbook in infectious diseases which is why I made this comment. And also I didnt say "only" I said such Indian pioneers meaning not just limited to medical profession. But since the subject was about medicine & the video was related to medicine I mentioned medical colleges and in my 2nd comment that is what I again repeated. im in my 30s. i got this disease as a teenager during my first "encounter". In the USA there is a big stigma if youre "poz". there are some 1.2 million poz men n women here. Gay and straight, rich and poor, black and white. A matching program like this is greatly needed here as well as all around the world. some days the loneliness is a lot to take.
I'm sorry life has dealt you some tough cards. I often worry the younger generations have forgotten the horror of the early days of HIV/AIDS and the huge disservice to humanity by drug companies and politicians. It was genocide, plain and simple. With better treatments and the waning media attention, people in the Western world seem to think it only happens "in Africa" or somewhere else that does not concern them. It concerns everyone. I hope one thing that comes from the current pandemic is a recognition that we have a duty to support one another in illness and keep each other safe from harm. Nobody should be left behind. This documentary really illustrates that, whether medicine or marriage, it's all the same thing. Love for our fellow humans. Know that I never forget you are out there and still suffering. I hope 2021 brings something wonderful your way.
Early on in the epidemic a friend’s nephew came to our workplace. He had HIV and many health issues. When he got up to leave, I hugged him. He started crying and said no one had touched him since his diagnosis. I felt so angry that people were so damn determined to be ignorant and judgmental. Even at that time it was very clear how the disease is transmitted.

Kudos to Doctor Solomon for her combination of knowledge and kindness for breaking a stigma of HIV patients. I think all medical worker should stay away from prejudice and stereotype when dealing with patients.
I've lost a few friends and family members to this virus. They passed during the late 80s into the 2010's. As an American, I know this brave and compassionate woman's work has helped the world over have a better understanding of this virus. I'm so happy that she also understood the basic human needs of compassion and having a partner in life. Sometimes just having one person on this planet that loves and understands you can make all the difference in your world.
Two years after her death they decided to honour her !! She deserves it while she could enjoy it ,I hope her clinic will continue what she has started ,her legacy must continue .

@Caden Malcolm yes these days people on medication can have normal relationships and get pregnant without passing it on to their partner or child. Science is impressive and has gone a long way. Obviously it is not ideal to have to take medication and not everyone reacts well to it, but it is still amazing

Dr. Solomon cared for her patients in every way possible! Such a lovely and admirable woman. If I were her patient she would be my guest of honor at the wedding. It's so unfortunate that the society makes people fear to do so.
That ending is probably one of the most impactful endings i've seen in a docu First you get to know their story, and then they reveal how they look. It ropes you into their lives and stories. Because you cant judge them based on their looks or the stereotypes we have. Amazing work by the directors and the editors.
This was a beautiful documentary and Dr Solomon compassion and care for her patients are beautifully exceptional. What a wonderful woman. Her time on this earth was a true blessing to this world. May she forever rest in peace and may all her matches be forever happy, healthy and loving.
This is such an excellent real life documentary film. This was only possible because of this wonderful doctor who shortly had passed away. May her soul Rest In Peace.
This doctor reminds me of one of my clinical preceptors back when I was in school. But I digress. I really do not understand why HIV is still so highly stigmatized in 2020. Something else I'm not understanding is how this doctor finds time to do research, teach medicine, run a practice, AND be a matchmaker.
That was an amazing journey in Dr. Solomon's life after her death. Her love story, how she helped the HIV positive to find love in their lives & how she pursued her work with passion despite the other doctors & professors judged her for her work. I hope her work is recognized around the world. She's really a miracle worker. She made difference & made it possible for HIV patients that it is possible to find love despite their conditions. I really love this documentary.
I did not skip a second of this whole documentary, much much respect to the doctor. No words to express the feelings..even though I initially felt sad on their fates, at the end of the video, there is a smile on my face..such adorable couples and the kind doctor❤️

Medical Colleges in India should show documentaries like these of such Indian Pioneers. It's a shame most of the students pass out of MBBS not knowing these people.
Happy i found it whilst I'm here🙂
Not only in medical field, every field must show documentary of selfless professional persons, so they will work selflessly ,why only docters?
@@SSS-dn3uz I never mentioned only medical fields or doctors.

I completed my MBBS as of 2020.
By reading your comment I can safely now can say that you know crap about the medical field.
mbbs is 5 yrs not 6. 1yr rural service is not compulsory now, government has removed it, atleast for my state it is. The same applies for PG you only have to do 1year of Senior Residency after 3yrs of PG to be a Assistant. Super Specialty is optional, not every branch needs it there's something called end branches too.
Finally I don't need to prove myself to a idiot like you who can't understand what another person is saying. Also maybe from next time use your brain more and use your tongue less.

Don't be angry, people were scared
Nothing will happen. I know someone for 20yrs we touch , hug and eat together
