Dustin!!! Much love from LV brother glad I found your channel and that youre doing good! And yes the same popping tactics are definitely used here at Lake Mead for stripers/bass to differentiate from the shad schools and for reaction strikes, lets go fishing next time you come down or take me when I come up!
Great video thank you so much helped a lot I live on Maui Now used to live in Newport Beach California we used to do it it was called splashing normally we would use a shovel handle cut and a half foot pieces put Eye loops opposite ends on each side of the wood and then use that for casting really far and splashing and use a fly like that would catch Bonita yellowtail tuna thanks again Aloha for Maui
I’ve been fly fishing Hawaii for over 20 yrs and find it interesting people are using flies with whipping rigs, it can be effective but it’s a thousand times better when you just fly fish
I've never fished on the mainland before. Do Hawaii light whipping and dunking methods also work when fishing on the mainland? Like if I took a bubble float and some curly tail grubs and fished on the California coast, would I catch anything?
great video! I was wondering is 20lb leader too thick and too visible for the fish? or should it be fine. Im running 20lb braid on a 4000size reel w a 7ft ugly stik. Thank you!
I used to make a long liter when I noticed I've had more action making shorter. I like to make my liter at least two foot long and max three foot long...
Crackhead Pier 🤣🤣 We used to shoot sunrise photography there. Now I got into fishing and this is how I like to fish too. Glassy morning and awesome video. Keep up the killer vids 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Cool stuff man. Wish it was that nice here where I live. Would using a carolina rig work? We don't have bluefins here but i reckon I could get some Queenfish, Mack or barracudas with this rig
Any tips for where these fish might be located or specific topography or structure they might be attracted to? Going to Maui this July and I’m looking to cross this fish off my bucket list of species! Great video, rig explanation and catches were very helpful! 🤙🏼
Any where bait fish could be schooled up is a good idea that's why bays and inlets are action. In deeper water the fish tend to be lower in the water so jigs are more useful there.
What are your favorite species to target from shore I’m going to Maui for a few weeks and I love fishing but I never catch big fish and the trigger fish always takes my bait granted I’ve never used the bubble rig setup maybe I’ll give that a go and see what happens
I used to use a bubble float vs popper for two reasons: 1. Price. It's way cheaper to use a bubble float and for me some sort of soft curly tail grub or nehu strip. 2. Weight. As you can hear it get's windy in the islands and nothing like a nice heavy bubble float to have a nice casting distance.
I was wondering as well. While we technically have shoreline access laws the closes access point doesn't allow to walk to this location...and even if it did you wouldn't be able to go on the pier. But maybe he knows someone there?
I Absolutely love bubble floaters. My best days Papio fishing came using a bubble. Awesome video 🤙
Bro!! You soo humble!! I knew you were a PRO!! Remember me?? LOL I was up on oahu for training you was whipping your homemade MONSTAH mullet Flys
Very thoughtful one for you and one for your fiancé, that's a true fisherman 👍
We use bubble floats for spanish mac and other fish down here on the gulf coast.

What is the best way to cook those Papio? Thanks for all your tips.

spot brings back so many memories.
U get action there? Live down the street but never bothered to go cuz I didn't know it was a good spot.
How do you even get in those gates?
I’ve used a similar set up in Louisiana for Bull redfish. Except a float with cupped end to make a bigger splash
Do you have e a fly tying video for those minnows? They look awesome!!
keep uploading bro these videos are action 🤙
LOL the chicken noises in the background. That's Kaneohe alright.

The chickens are taking over!
Love your videos 👍! Looking forward to see more (hint.)

They like bays and inlets. Cast around and see who is home if you get no strikes try another spot.

They use a similar setup with the fly for trout and stripers
Can i just walk through to get to that pier? Just found this spot but im unsure if I can walk there from outside the gate.
Did you ever try going? Never did since there is a gate as well. We are talking about the "cove" correct?

I heard of someone puting rocks in instead of water, they said it make noise to attract fish. have you heard of this?

Very interesting why not go a popper.
I have a spot to try this for some trevs.
I used to use a bubble float vs popper for two reasons:

Where is this at?
How did u get to spot number 2 that's on private property
I was wondering as well. While we technically have shoreline access laws the closes access point doesn't allow to walk to this location...and even if it did you wouldn't be able to go on the pier. But maybe he knows someone there?
