Most definitely. I love how the way they utilize those somewhat forces you to reflect on what they're playing and saying with the phrasing of the music in a way I've never really heard. I'm quite sure they don't just pick a time signature for the hell of it because it sounds cool. There seems to be a deeper intentionality behind the construction of the songs. You're definitely not going to be able to just turn this stuff on for the first time and straight rock out to it.

greg from car bomb uses LOADS of effects and pedals to accomplish his guitar sounds. the traditional stuff like distortion, reverb, delay, and what not and then some really left field stuff like ring modulation and harmonizers and pitch shifters and flangers and phasers just anything you can imagine, greg has probably used it to make a sound.

@@Phalse13 I just watched the music video, I had no idea the bassist got replaced, he was such a distinctive part of their sound, what happened? Very surprising to see you react to Car Bomb. Very amazing band, and tragically underrated... The way they layer their individual tracks and insert numerous other sounds and tones, to create a powerful wall of sound is mesmerizing! The offbeat, odd time signatures mixed with ethereal harmonies and melodies, in a more traditional signature, is a fantastic recipe! Pure ear candy for musicians for sure! Elliot Hoffman is the drummer, and has inspired my playing immensely!!!
Best way to cure a hangover is listening to some metal with Geebz! Been waiting for this one for a long time, too. I also gotta recommend Constant Sleep and Scattered Sprites by these guys, but just about all of their discography is mind-blowing.
i can recommend anything from "haken" but you can start with: "celestial elixir" / "Pareidolia" / "Cockroach King" / "The Point of No Return" / "Nil by mouth" and all the other songs! ^^
I cannot believe he hasn't done Haken yet! He's got SO many good bands covered here, but man Haken is an absolutely MASSIVE band in this scene... I honestly think Atlas Stone is an excellent intro to their total sound. Off the newer stuff, I'd love to hear him break down Carousel. Celestial Elixer would be a dream. I'd pay money to see him do that one!
haken is my all time favorite prog band, i love the transition from (Enter the 5th Dimension) / Aquarius to Virus, every Album is like another genre but you hear always that the sound is the haken formular.
CARRRRRRR BOOOOMMMMMMB Also yeah they use a lot of pitch shifting in their riffs, just the one guitarist, I think he uses an axe-fx live but I don't know about the studio. Also, fun fact, they don't play to a click track live! According to the drummer at least
Opeth make some of the most beautiful songs, I can listen to their growling on one day but when I need to get a good headspace, I go with Melinda, Burden, Windowpane etc..
Hey, I usually wait to recommend to see what style/genres develop in your and the watchers taste. I like to recommend lesser known groups and on the fringe of your tastes...so here we go. - Lychgate- Letter XIX - Amenra- Nemelendelle - Creatures- Fugue en Sol Mineur - Wormlust- a Altari meistarans Thanks for your channel. And hope anyone who checks out these enjoys them. Peace. Chris
I wasn't expecting you to get to Car Bomb this soon haha. This is from their 2nd newest album if I remember correctly. So kind of from the middle of the discography, but that not necessarily a bad thing, because this is their best album IMO. For next song, I'd recommend "Sets". That one really messes with time right from the start.
Love seeing Car Bomb on the channel, great choice of track too, really interesting hearing you pick out stuff from it. Throwing in another request for The Odious - Mono No Aware.
Hey man, cool to see some mathcore on here. Since you seemed to jive with it you might be interested in checking out Rolo Tomassi. They have some purely melodic tracks, some tracks of pure screamy chaos and a bunch that synthesise the two to varying degrees. Stage Knives or Flood Of Light would be a great starting point.
:OOO car bomb is one of my favorite bands ever! this is a very interesting breakdown, its great to see people of all generations can enjoy talent like this! On an unrelated note, I'd really like to see a breakdown of a daughters song, maybe Satan in the Wait, or Long Road No Turns; they have an extremely interesting and very unique style of instrumentation that is a little hard for me to understand... in general, i think you'd very much enjoy their album "You Won't Get What You Want"
What an amazing in depth review! One of my favorite metal albums of the last decade and you just made me love it more. Love the energy too man, brand new sub looking forward to new content!
Useless context, but the album this song is from (Meta) was released in 2016, the third in their discography. It's preceded by w^w^^w^w or "waveform" (2012) and Centralia (2007), followed by Mordial (2019) There's actually four people in this band!
@@Thefractalillusion Hence why I included it in quotes as an unofficial name... If I was to refer to the album verbally, should I be expected to say that every time, or would it be easier to just say "waveform" after establishing that it refers to that album?
Super surprised that you reacted to Car Bomb! If you do another track by them I recommend "Fade Out". I'm gonna keep recommending Mouse on the Keys on every video though, "Spectres de Mouse" is a great track
YES! You reacted to Car Bomb! I suggested another song called Secrets Within on a couple of videos, but am happy to see you do Gratitude! I'm glad you got to experience this band and explore heavy technical music that showcases serious musicianship and has bizarre compositions. Thank you for reacting to Car Bomb! \m/, P.S. @@A.Steppe ...uhm... ...just... No... Dude, Yes 309, and one other track (maybe) was great, but overall "Empros" is a dud, to be polite. It has a Fucking "4 chord" song for fucks sake... Also, while I Still intend on getting ''Station'' on vinyl one of these days, the title song most definitely is something I might skip, because I find it to be so Annoyingly, not Pleasantly bland when it comes to melodic motifs, which is a problem I have with the particular band in General. That said, I cant speak on Anything past "Memorial", which I overall found decent and re-listenable for a dozen times, maybe. Anyway, couple all of that with my opinions about the debut and "Geneva", with both overall being either hits or misses, then No - I Do Not agree with your opinion!
If Dir En Grey - Vinushka is on your list of upcoming new bands/songs then, perfect! :) ;) Car Bomb is a very interesting band, one of the best representant of the Mathcore scene along with The Dillinger Escape Plan (another band that you should definitely check out). i can recommend anything from "haken" but you can start with: "celestial elixir" / "Pareidolia" / "Cockroach King" / "The Point of No Return" / "Nil by mouth" and all the other songs! ^^
Haken is definitely at the top of the Prog rock scene, IMO. I would love to see him react to "Cockroach King, so much cool stuff going on.
Threshold of Transformation By ISIS and Cygnus by Cult of Luna&Julie Christmas ,,,dying to see you react to those
Yeah any cult of luna tbf. Would love something off ADTFf, maybe lights on the hill
Yeah, love both these bands, only just recently lisented to the Julie Christmas collaboration and love the whole thing
Love this band. Great album all around. Always loving your reactions and comments!!
YESSS IV BEEN WAITINGGG WOOO
I love these vids. Its like showin my pops new stuff and vibin
CARRRRRRR BOOOOMMMMMMB
Also yeah they use a lot of pitch shifting in their riffs, just the one guitarist, I think he uses an axe-fx live but I don't know about the studio. Also, fun fact, they don't play to a click track live! According to the drummer at least
All axefx at least on this record and their most recent. Don't know about their first record or the waveform record.
@@drumkidstu yeah might just be pedals or studio magic on the first two, not sure if axefx existed back in 2003
who needs click tracks when you got big vibes anyways
Wow, you were on fire in this one! Really enjoyed the video and the band pick.
Love your work boss. Once you get back around to Opeth I'd love to hear your reaction to Face of Melinda. It's got such a gorgeous fretless bass sound
Opeth make some of the most beautiful songs, I can listen to their growling on one day but when I need to get a good headspace, I go with Melinda, Burden, Windowpane etc..
Car bomb is...... tha bomb
I think you would really enjoy Straws pulled at random by Meshuggah. Also loved your clockworks breakdown!!
Yes good choice, he really needs to do a song or two from the "Nothing" album
Hey,
I usually wait to recommend to see what style/genres develop in your and the watchers taste.
I like to recommend lesser known groups and on the fringe of your tastes...so here we go.
- Lychgate- Letter XIX
- Amenra- Nemelendelle
- Creatures- Fugue en Sol Mineur
- Wormlust- a Altari meistarans
Thanks for your channel. And hope anyone who checks out these enjoys them.
Peace. Chris
Nice Lab's Cloud avatar
@@TheVermifuge I didn’t know who that was, just typed in Rainbow lotus for it.
I’ll check it his stuff. Looks pretty cool!
Don't know if you are aware. But the web site metal Injection shared one of your tool reactions.
Please check out: "Nevermore - The River Dragon has Come"
That solo is legendary
It would be better to do Godless Endeavour
God the 7 string tone on that whole album is some of the best ever.
Yaaas, I love this band and I love seeing new perspectives on their fantastic magic.
:OOO
car bomb is one of my favorite bands ever! this is a very interesting breakdown, its great to see people of all generations can enjoy talent like this!
Daughters is amazing! Glad to see another fan here. I love their newer music, but my personal favorite of theirs is still Hell Songs.
put this video on and realized I had my car bomb shirt on :) good video!
Another great video! Can't wait to hear you try Clockworks - Meshuggah
What an amazing in depth review! One of my favorite metal albums of the last decade and you just made me love it more. Love the energy too man, brand new sub looking forward to new content!
another great reaction. I've learned so much from you. I thank you for that
Useless context, but the album this song is from (Meta) was released in 2016, the third in their discography. It's preceded by w^w^^w^w or "waveform" (2012) and Centralia (2007), followed by Mordial (2019)
There's actually four people in this band!
The band do not call it Waveform.
They only acknowledge that other people do.
They call it w click w click click w click w.
P.S. Here's Secrets Within for later ruclips.net/video/Z1fzjoiO-bw/видео.html
Two words, “Russian Circles”.
Deficit is sick!
@@BirdNoise77 arguably, not a single album has a song worth skipping. Same with, “If these trees could talk”. Just amazing all around...
@@A.Steppe +1
Car Bomb is a very interesting band, one of the best representant of the Mathcore scene along with The Dillinger Escape Plan (another band that you should definitely check out).
I don't know why but this song gives me a Deftones vibe and that was something I would not expect from them.
Kepp the great work man!
Would love to hear your take on Ulcerate! They do alot of atonal stuff and does so in a way that their riffs almost sound "fluid" in a weird way.
absolutely love the idea of more car bomb breakdowns, they're truly the goat
Geebz! PLEASE do 'Scattered Sprites' by Car Bomb.
Indeed sick. I love the variations and creativity with these guys.
Wave after gentle wave of different ideas just wash over my brain, this is some really good music.
as a long time carbomb fan who has listened to their latest 2 albums religiously for years at this point its always nice to see peoples first reaction to this fantastic band. theyre absolutely unique and their songs are insanely well thought through. i had the pleasure to watch and film Elliot at Euroblast 2018 from the backstage (you can find that video here on youtube). Truely one of the most mindboggeling display of talent ive ever seen.
If you like this, you will LOVE The Dillinger Escape Plan. Look up the song Prancer or Understanding Decay
🤣🤣🤣
Elliot knows how to Ghost Pepper!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Oh wow you're on a roll dude. Incredible band as well hahaha you're picking some damn winners!!
I absolutely love car bomb ❤️ mind numbing to say the least and have been hooked since I first heard them years ago. I would love to see you do a song by Between the Buried and Me. Love ya Geebz
For those interested their beginnings were a band called Neck. Only on RUclips you can search Neck -s/t or Should my Fist Eye. Both awesome albums that I love. They also have one more album that I’ve forgotten the name of. Glad you got to Car Bomb! Meta has to be my fav album forsure.
Hey, mom. Hey, dad!
Don't forget Elliot's band "Spooge" before Carbomb. Very Bunglei-ish
I’m great full for this review, what a frigging lyric “If this ends your life be greatful”
Dissect Yourself with the video is a short but sweet mindblower !!!
Love this band, so cool that you dove in and enjoyed it. I’ll put my +1 towards Constant Sleep as some others did if you ever go for a second taste.
Hell yeah, getting into some deep cuts here. Nicely done!
I remembered Cynic or even Psychotic Waltz listening to their harmonies! Interesting band.
Good work Geebz :) Please put these bands in the list plus Pain of Salvation for the future!!! Cheers :D
Nice carbomb rules
