Fun fact: the keyboard player you mention that is losing his sh%& and walking away in the Lingus video is five-time Grammy award winner Shaun Martin. That's how black belt everybody is here.
@@schm4704 I mean between all the 50 wizards that dip in and out of Snarky Puppy they probably have a few hundred Grammys between them all. No one could keep it straight!
@@haroldmurrayDFW ok thanks, that makes me very happy as I was at that concert and have a signed copy of that album, they pressed and signed them after the show.
That would have been my next suggestion too for an audience that comes from metal, because it’s one of the “heavier” ones, but honestly all tracks on the album are just so great.
NICE! Outlier next! Outlier is a PERFECT example of when a drummer and another soloist are just in total sync with one another. Straight up flow state.
Imagine being in a band with Larnell, soundchecking at a show, and looking at the faces of other bands as the engineer asks him to 'go around the kit'.
The We like it here sessions is the greatest album recording sessions ever witnessed by an audience, all these years later and the people who were there probably realise just how lucky they were.
@@mikejt1128 I saw them at the Albert hall last year and got a signed copy of the live album...but I would definitely have swapped it for a seat at the We like it here sessions.
When I discovered Snarky Puppy, Michael League, Larnell, Bill Laurance, Cory Henry, etc etc etc ..... it just BLEW MY MIND. I was angry that I basically had been listening to crap a big part of my life. This is REAL music, not the shit that's on the radio. Keep them coming dude, loved it!!!!
What a rabbit hole you've fallen into! Snarky Puppy is deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. You should listen to every freakin' song from this session as there are NO weak links. Go with Shofukin next. As a metal guy, you might be interested in prog stuff, which Shofukin definitely harnesses some King Crimson stuff in it's outro. Anyways, I'm enjoying watching your mind be blown, from one drummer to another! You gained another sub.
Want to be even more impressed? Larnell arrived at the studio about mid morning morning of recording, having learned the music on the flight from the USA to Holland overnight. Watch a bit of the Snarky Puppy "We Like It Here" Documentary. Even the other band members are impressed.
You must do Outlier from this record! And also Sleeper. Shaun Martin does talk box on his keyboard and it is amazing! And then you have 5 or 6 more albums of pure gold to dig into
I love that you express what most of us feel when we listen to that. Superb.. LIfts us into another world, Cory Henry,,,,, Keys.. MArk lettieri , amazing guitarist , check his band out.
You need to check out LOUIS COLE, also part of KNOWER and CLOWNCORE (you'd love that insanity), All three of those names are legit insane and awesome. Louis is on par with Larnell but in a different way. There's some Snarky Puppy + Knower stuff out there too where Louis and Larnell play together, freaking amazing stuff.
@ 7:51 My version of this sentiment is 'I cannot imagine being _that_ good at ANYTHING.' (re: goosebumps... Constantly. My jaw is constantly dropping so far that I think I'm going to need corrective surgery.)
If you’ve ever seen the documentary for this album, you’ll learn that Larnell Louis (The drummer) only had 2 hours to learn the parts for every song. The rest of the band had 3 days if I remember correctly. Still blows my mind how amazing he is at improve with drums, and learning things so quickly!
Love Snarky Puppy! Like others have said, I cannot believe I have gone this many years without hearing them! Also, love this channel, knew you were a good dude rocking the TMNT hat, the AEW shirt takes it over the top! Subscribing my friend, and keep this amazing content coming!
Another appropriate Snarky Puppy reaction. Jaw dropping talent. There is not a single meh song in this session. I’ll echo others recommending Dirty Loops, another group out there with inspiring talent and musicianship. But more Snarky Puppy too please!
When you have checked out Snarky Puppy, you have to also check out Dirty Loops - Work shit out if you have not already :) True masters of their instruments!
Band camp at its best... there are some Musicians with a capital M here. And Larnel Lewis's use of the full set, his speed, rhythm, and timing sets him apart from other drummers I've seen lately
Hi, Bryan. You should do another reaction to Lingus with your friend. If he hasn't heard/watched it yet, I'd LOVE to see his reaction!!! It was so emotionally exciting for me just watching YOUR reaction, bro!!!!
I never noticed Larnell Lewis's tribute to the band The Time. The song I'm referencing is called 777-9311. Listen to Larnell during the guitar solo and listen to the intro to 777-9311. Very similar drumming, and very clever drummers. Larnell you are a BEAST on those sticks and pads!!!
I saw Snarky Puppy like 10 years ago live. I got my face ripped off If you ever get a chance go see them Just be prepared to want to sell your instrument
you should listen to Snarky Puppy playing one hope by KNOWER during the family dinner vol 1 that is the closest you will probably hear Snarky Puppy as a band in a metal type of Genre SNARKY PUPPY FT KNOWER ONE HOPE (FAMILY DINNER VOL 1)
You should check out some Louis Cole. Overtime (Live band Sesh), Thinking (Live Sesh) or F it up (Live Sesh) or Snarky Puppy feat. Knower and Jeff Coffin - I remember (Family dinner volume 2) Knower is Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi.

Wrong! It's Corey Henry! Shaun Martin is on the band too, but that keyboardist isn't him.

Outlier from this same album is definitely worth a reaction
yeah outlier is one of my favorites out of the album
Absolutely! The way the sax and drums talk in the solo is insane.
