I didn't realize this video was so new! I just found your channel and I've been loving making my way through it. I was looking forward to you experiencing Elliot Hoffman for the first time. Even with all my years listening to this type of music, I've yet to find another person that does what he does at this level. He really is astounding.
This is truly horrifying music. The fact that this stuff is even playable live is a miracle in itself. Truly great, one of the best metal bands on the scene today.
Agreed. Elliot is the best metal drummer of all time, and he is up there with drummers in general; his jazz background is very apparent. Top of the line drummer.
SWEET so glad to see you finally get around to Elliot and Carbomb. I always say he's the "best drummer you've never heard of" because he is an absolute beast and really knows his stuff if you watch some of his practice routines and online lessons he does.
Elliot is genuinely a really cool dude, along with all the guys in Car Bomb. I've been a fan since Myspace (yeah that old thing) and seen them every time they come to Detroit. I asked the bass player why Elliot doesn't do session drumming and just bank on that. The response I got was that basically he's in his own world, truly believes in the mighty Car Bomb, and well....he's a humble dude. Great reaction, CHEERS everyone
@@DivergingUnity yeah pretty sure they all have decent paying tech day jobs, and instead of saving up for putting deposits on cars, houses, whatever, they put every spare penny they have into this band, touring, and making their shows amazing. They make a financial loss on this incredible band. Such is the level of their dedication.
@@jackmaguire1158 I just came across their music a few months back, saw the documentary and had my mind BLOWN that they're not more popular. But yeah when you factor in the fact that this is more of a passion of theirs that they develop on the side, this is much more astounding.
Elliott Hoffman is one of the most underrated drummers currently. I got to see (and meet) Car Bomb a few years ago and they're just a bunch of chill dudes that love making really interesting and challenging music.
That’s usually the case with a lot of Metal dudes. They make all these heavy tracks and growl into microphones, but you see them and turns out they’re chill just like anyone else.
I'm here! Awesome video to react to, só much going on, amazing stuff. Really clean and musical. If i may make a request, check out this video of Ken Bedene from Aborted. I know it's not really your jam, but if you listen to a proper recording, you'll really see the heavy, and how the skronky drums just make the music punch. They're a super cool, under appreciated band. Cheers mate.
Thank you so much for giving Elliot more exposure. I discovered him through Sick Drummer Magazine 11 years ago now, and have avidly followed him and Car Bomb ever since. He is a phenomenal drummer and truly unique; I'd hate to think what Car Bomb would do if he quit! Interesting fact - I heard in an interview once that Car Bomb practice with their backs to each other so they never need to look to each other for cues. They've got to know everything about their songs on their own :D
YES. You’ve been on such a tear lately, lol. So many amazing selections. I love Car Bomb. Thanks for the hard work. I can’t stop watching every vid. Great stuff as always. So much content for my drumming loving heart.
It's no wonder they don't use a click. They don't have to. Elliot has the right hand of kronos, insane how absolutely rock solid his timekeeping is through all those changes.

Piccolo Snare Drums and extreme metal are a perfect match. I used to play a Mapex 13" x 3" Steel Snare Drum and that was an absolute beast. Short attack but massive volume at any stroke. Unfortunately I had to switch to the Pearl B1330 because the Mapex got damaged and they don't make spare parts anymore. The Pearl has a great sound, but also a huge dynamic range, which showed me how inconsistent my blast beats really are. Shame... :D
I still have a Pearl piccolo that I've had since like 1999. I threw one of those Evan's Hybrid (the metal fiber heads) on it and it is ridiculously loud. But I wanted more "punch" out of a snare than just a loud "crack". So I haven't touched it in a while. Maybe I should bring it out, tune it up, and see how I feel about it now!
