Controlled Instincts has a fatal flaw for frost, splinters are generated by consuming winters chill but need to hit during it for this effect. So you will always lose 1 splinter value from it.
The wording on Splintering Orbs means that it can only happen 8 times per cast. It's similar to the wording on Frozen Orb, where it gives a free FoF but only once per Orb.
I think it reads that Arcane Orb and Frost Orb each generates 8 splinters to the first 8 targets damaged. I'm guessing you can repeat on a same target up to 8 times with frost orb.
if the splinters will be tuned well, this tree seems both good for aoe and st. It's true that we won't consume NP stacks in aoe, but we will fire much more AOs than frost will throw FO and that's where splintering orbs will benefit arcane more in AOE I believe. Also the generation of CC in aoe will make the rotation much smoother.
Sounds fun for arcane, i would like to see arcane battery return for missiles. The aoe part of the tree sounds nutty though, i feel like we're gonna have way, way more initial burst now which is gonna be great
My opinions on Spellslinger as a frost mage player: Overall good, in line with what I would have done theme wise, but it feels like it lacks something, namely less just gimmick buff nodes and direct push for some spells and the playstyle - My first suggestion, that is also on theme and wouldn’t be broken, is that for frost Splinterstorm applies Winter’s Chill and gives Ice Floes (adequate since arcane gets Clearcasting) - I expected more Ice Lance synergy at the very least (maybe even Frozen Orb and cast weaving synergy). I actually like the Glacial Spike playstyle but I wish Ice Lance was a bit more important and impactful. Maybe something along the line of “During Frozen Orb your spells (maybe direct damaging spells) deal increased damage, frozen Ice Lance deals even more damage”. Don’t be too hard on me I’m not a game dev, and yes I’m reminescent of SL frost in AoE with high haste - I expected a lot more crit synergy since Frostfire is the mastery/haste one and it would be on theme especially with the funnel of Splinters and the crit node. Maybe crit damage increased with your base crit chance - The defensive and mobility nodes feel very random and barely on theme (if you stretch it) and honestly kinda lame and borderline bad. Especially compared to Frostfire’s 25% barrier increase and 30% fire spell cd reduction. To be fair, I don’t have great ideas for this one yet. Maybe casting instant cast (damage) spells gives a bit stacking movement speed and the buff lasts very short. For the defensive side, on one hand I don’t want to make it op, on the other side, fire is the one who dies the least by far and this is a frost/arcane tree. Maybe just barriers auto cast if you drop below a certain health percent. I will also always advocate for Ice Block off the gcd
This theme is not what I expected. Doesn’t feel very spellslinger to me. Feels like random glass shards and some procs. I was expecting something more along the lines of changing the way you cast your big spec specific abilities.
For Arcane, I wonder if it would be worth it to keep nether tempest up at all times? I know you cast it already during Touch, but would it change the timing on when you should cast it? Probably won't matter much since it's going to be up permantely. Looks like you'll even cast it in AoE without Touch since it procs extra aoe damage from splinter...depending on how much 20% of your splinter actually does
With free extensions and splinter cleave it will definitely be worth to reapply out of cooldowns, at the moment its a slight dps loss to permanently upkeep, but if you save some gcds from not having to press it because of the extensions that will change
The splinters thing is kinda underwhelming. I mean we already got icicles. Also another button and weak aura to keep track of. Why do they make mage so convoluted?
Man, i thought slinger implies a fast pace playstyle or better mobility. I was hoping they make GS instant cast sometimes or something to boost up hastes. they might as well just change the name to splinterspells instead. Haha
@@Manather oh course it would be stronger, can't disagree. I just think it makes more sense on Explosion being the AOE equivalent (to an extent) of Blast. If that makes sense
@@darrylloveridge9894 blast is our spender and our builder really in ST, barrage with orb barrage fills a very similar role in AOE, just that it has rng as a builder compared to arcane being only partial but guaranteed for charges.
They really wanna try to make arcane : do ur single target to 1 target and convert this to aoe . And I hate it cuz it makes arcane never get played in keys compares to fire . Overall I don think it get played in keys which I care. Maybe in raids thou
I wish Blizzard would just listen to the community, and get rid of shifting power all together, it doesn't feel good to cast, please just get rid of it. Idc if we dont get to keep a covenant ability from Shadowlands, it just isn't a fun spell to press.

As a frost main this is my only hope tbh..sunfury is like fire on crack and frostfire is more like skb fire and frost in brackets

Splinterstorm is passive, so this doesnt add another button for frost, unless you mean supernova for arcane.

What is your Google Chrome theme ? I like it
I use firefox, this theme is one of their initial recommended extensions
What if though... they're going to make arcane explosion consume nether precision, makes more sense to me than Barrage
Why? It would be a lot stronger on barrage, and depending on orbs we can go long periods without arcane explosioning in AOE during cds.

I am aware mate :) I guess all i am saying is i think Bliz would put it on Explosion over Barrage, love the content keep up the hard work @@Manather
unerring proficiency sounded awesome with the supernova in aoe... sad we wont be playing it in aoe

Is that what fire mage all about right now ? So single target dmg and it will going aoe
Fire mages aren't actually as good as the other two specs, people just play it at higher keys because it has better defend

Guessing you don’t play fire.
@ajbluey3501 I play all 3. Just because it's useful, doesn't mean it's an enjoyable button to press. Most mages just want the spell gone in general.
it's the reason i don't play mage. feels clunky@@Keyblader001
They need to scrap all of this. I believe this to be a terrible direction. Not just this spec, but all of them.
