The best of Mama Cass! What a voice and talent. Grew up listening to her. While we lost her too soon, we are privileged to always have her musical legacy.
Michelle Phillips herself said Cass was the “real singer” in the group. Denny had a nice, pleasant, warm voice. And as you can see and hear, Cass was the only one with the voice, charisma, and talent to pull off a successful solo career.
Michelle had zero talent and was there for one reason.

A little something for the boys?
@@mikewest6569 Michelle could harmonize. That's something any random person can not do.
Denny had a fantastic voice.

Just the greatest sounds from the SIXTIES. I joined the navy in 1964. MUSIC is what kept me sane, and happy. Thanks for Mama Cass. MONDAY MONDAY Coming.
What a voice
She just had a gift, a pure and powerful voice that only comes around once in a great while.
Cass Elliot’s voice is right up there with the greatest female voices of all time. I’ve always loved her voice and the harmonies they created were magical. I agree that she left us way too soon and I can only take comfort (a tiny bit) in the fact that she was on top of the world just before she passed. She was in England and had been very warmly received as she launched her solo career. She was ecstatically pleased with her new success. It’s sad that she left before she could fully enjoy it but nice to know that she was very happy. Thanks Harri and Brandon 🌺✌️
Great singers..V
Cass had a beautiful voice effortless❤
Cass had such a beautiful voice, it's too bad she passed so young.
Great choice, what a voice she had. They produced great music that stood the test of time. Thanks for this Harri and Brandon.
Dream a Little Dream for Me is one of her best songs
That's the Cass Shuffle she was doing, every time. She was the best!
They had such great harmonies.
John wrote all the songs and Denny had great voice.
Cass had a Wonderful cheery hit song called “Make Your Own Kind of Music”. Love It!
I believe they say she had perfect pitch.
Mama Cass was a household name in the early seventies on the strength of songs like this. For some more Mama Cass magic check out "Dream a Little Dream of Me".
She was a beautiful, tremendously talented lady. I feel so incredibly sad for the career she could have had, SHOULD have had! RIP, Cass! You are so missed and loved!!
Michelle Phillips could sing too but she had a very soft soprano as noted in "Dedicated to the One I Love". Cass was definitely the powerhouse behind their fantastic sound. I had all their albums when I was in college. Thank you for bringing back those memories.
they were amazing.
Now that you can fully comphrend the context ... in the video of Janis Joplin performing at Monterey Pop the large lady wearing the LARGE sunglasses staring up with such a look of awe and amazement was Mama Cass Elliot. If you're talent is so good that it shocks and amazes MAMA CASS you are absolutely going to end up being A LEGEND.
She had a great voice!! ❤
I absolutely love The Mamas and Papas..Cass Elliot had a tremendous voice and it was a great loss when she passed, in many ways. Sadly, she was part of what's become known as "the 27 club" 😒
One of my favourites by the Mamas and the Papas, and what a voice. Thanks Brandon and Harri.
❤❤❤
Brandon, I enjoyed this awesome Mama and Papas performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Mama Cass was a crushing loss at the peak of their still-rising popularity. I give this 5 Stars!! Bravo Brandon and Harri.
❤❤❤
Brandon - Sorry for my delay in commenting. Thank you for submitting the magnificent Mama Cass and the rest of Mamas and Papas. I recall her sudden passing when I was a teen, a real loss. Personally, I would place Mama Cass Elliot in my Top 10-20 female vocalists. Bravo Brandon and Harri.
Loved the old Ed Sullivan show. we waited for it every Sunday.
I've only wept over the loss of two singers. Cass was the first and Karen Carpenter was the second. Both had amazing voices and such a presence on stage. I can't believe Cass will be gone for 50 years in three months. I loved the harmonies of the '60s.
Mama Cass sounds just like she does on the recording.
She could move. She was all out, all in.
Mama Cass "lights up the stage" because she has so much gravitational mass light cannot escape her.
Hearing the names being introduced here, I’m reminded of Wilson Philips, a group consisting of daughters of John Philips and Brian Wilson. A great vocal group, you will love them.
Since you seem to have missed many pop hits in the 1980s and 1990s, you may have missed Wilson Philips too. In that case: check them out Harri!
Loved The Mamas and The Papas ❤
Thank you Brandon great request and
Thank you Harri
She had big band era chops.
To this day I wish Mama Cass would have lost weight for nothing else but her health.
I really believe if they'd known as much as we do about weight loss, back then, we'd have had her longer. They said she was constantly dieting, some fad diet all the time. The choking on a sandwich story was a cruel lie. She may have had hypothyroid or any number of hormonal problems that today can make such a difference. Love her.
She did try , several times in fact . The last diet was so very extreme that she made herself sick , which coupled with the schedule she had set for herself led to her heart attack .
I believe that she did lose some fair amount of weight.
@@ocheltree1We know more about nutrition now yet obesity is skyrocketing
Well that was certainly a live performance.
You should react to Wilson Phillips group Chynna Phillips is Michelle Phillips daughter and the Wilson sisters are from Brian Wilson The Beach Boys
And that sound was a total accident. Cass filled in at a rehearsal because the lead girl singer was ill.
Spanky & Our Gang ?
Please react to Don Gibson “Sea of Heartbreak.”
That group wouldn't have made it without Cass' voice. The rest of them were mediocre, at best, but because she was fat, they disrespected her a lot, especially John. I remember thinking this when I was a teenager, and watched them on TV back then.
Michelle Phillips is the only one still living?
Ms. Cass Elliot is the Singer in this group.. FYI She did Not like that Name.. ♠Mr.G..
Mama Cass had a big voice & big personality, both of which are on display.
One of the things I always loved about this group was the vocal arrangements that they created. They were so distinctive that you knew it was them instantly. Add in the consistently great catchy pop songwriting, and you get a very successful group. RIP Mama Cass🎤
She preferred to be called Cass Elliott 😏
July will mark 50 years since Cass died in London.
I had the LP with this and many others on it. She does a version of 'Dream a little dream of me', that sends me.
It's a gorgeous rendition
True Harri, groovy song ♥️ Mama Cass🩷 her beautiful voice, and her great moves, loved it 🎼💫💎💖
At the time, Cass was in love with Denny Dorety.
Mamma Cass had one the best voices of that era. Any era, in fact.
Great choice Harry, you are one of the first reactionists to do this song! Thanks man!
Lord, I miss these folks, just wonderful
I agree with your comments about Mama Cass's confidence and her fantastic voice. I've wondered what dance she does with her feet? So fab with the boots. I love all their outfits.
Cass had a great voice! I dug so many songs by them even tho they were a short lived group. The performances on Eds shows were all LIVE! Great memories of great times.
