Jamel, Cass being a member of the Mamas & the Papas reminds me of a song from early 80’s by singer of another group, ABBA. Frida had a solo album come out just after ABBA broke up and the single from it that hit #13 (and was produced by Phil Collins (who played drums on it)...I Know There Is Something Going On. I’d LOVE to see you reaction! ruclips.net/video/p98PjtSfNWo/видео.html

Cass Elliot was a fantastic talent!!! There would have never been The Mama’s and Papa’s without HER!!!!! Listen to her singing Leaving on a Jet Plane, by John Denver. They actually do a duet of that song, (which you can see here on RUclips) and they are fantastic together. They both have those effortless singing voices. It just comes so naturally to them. Like I said above, effortless, with ease, so natural. They make it look so easy. Cass Elliot was an incredible talent. You either have it, or you don’t, and SHE, my friends, SHE HAD IT in spades. One of my ALL TIME favorites!!!!! ❤️

It's a really old song Jamel.....goes back to 1931 with the first version recorded by Ozzie Nelson (of Ozzie and Harriet TV show fame). Lots of people have recorded it - Doris Day, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald......and the list goes on. Mama Cass....from the Mamas and Papas.

True Story: In 1989 I went on a camping trip with over 50 people, most of whom I didn't know. One night around a campfire people were drinking and someone had a guitar. He was playing old songs that hardly anyone knew. He played this one and I sang along, and heard a guy singing as well. I looked over, our eyes met, and we've been together ever since. How prophetic Dream A Little Dream was for us. He was and still is, my soul mate. We still dance to this song every wedding anniversary. Thanks you Jamel. 💖

Cass had one of the most beautiful voices of the 1960s and beyond. She could sing a glorious lead or add a beautiful harmony line to anything that was brought to her. It's such a shame she passed away so young. In truth, she disliked the Mama moniker as that was only when she was a member of The Mamas and Papas. The Mama name evoked so much pain she endured because of her size, her only true public pleasure was when she sang in her angelic voice. This is probably her best moment as a solo artist, giving her a chance to sing a much older song with some wonderful Blues roots, something she excelled at.

Hey Jamel! Cass Elliot, I remember seeing her sing live on many shows in my youth. A pure and powerful voice, indeed! This is a sweet song and doesn't require power but when she sings a tune that does, she isn't guilty of "belting" it out, she just has power.

So sad that she was a victim of fat-shaming back in the day. Her soaring voice with the Mamas and the Papas was amazing. They truly epitomized the Hippy movement of that time; peace and love (with some drugs mixed in!).

This was a cover that permanently changed how everyone did this song. This song started its life as a peppy dance tune, but Mama Cass did it is a ballad and, after that, everyone thought of this song as a ballad. It's rare that a cover is so good that it changes forever how a song is performed.

First off I wish what many do we still had Mama Cass & that phenomenal voice. She was truly a gem that got a short shine but still a long lasting one.
Secondly, Jamal...I was born 93 lil Latina girl but my brothers and parents did play music before Auto tune days. In high school I concert band. No March band. I played the clarinet & bass clarinet in 4 years I got introduced to so much more great music from 1920s back to the 90s. (this is what I call a Christmas miracle). I was cleaning out a hotel room with my mom. The guests had left we we're preparing it for someone else. I'm a year into playing with the band. I found an iPad full of stuff like Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Miles Davis to The Doors, The Beatles (which O already loved) some Elvis I hadn't heard. An so much more. The rule was if the guest didn't claim the item, the housekeeper could have it or it'd get thrown out. So my mom let me keep it. That was a great time. It's one thing to be around for bands like type of negative, Alice in chains, Pearl Jam and others from 90s -2000s even some 2000s-2010s but you're right there is that spark missing now. I don't know. Thanks for giving me a good morning and reading this rant. Happy Sunday brother 😊

When my Dad was in the hospital battling cancer, I walked into his room late one night to visit him and he glanced at me irritatedly and urgently said "Shhhh! Wait. I'm giving your mother a goodnight kiss". He had taken a tape player of this song and held it up to the phone. It was so romantic. I'm so glad you appreciate the pure talent of Cass Elliot.
