I'm in my seventies now, and I still can sing that song word for word. I adored the Righteous Brothers! Love this kind of honest talent. No auto-tune, no computerized fixing...they were just plain talented! WOW!
Hearing Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield for the first time is like seeing the ocean in person for the first time. Nothing will ever replace it. Great reaction fellas. I saw it moving through you.
They were known as "blue eyes soul". Bill and Bobby blended so well together, Bill is a baritone; Bobby was a counter tenor. Bobby did solos, unchained melody, ebb tide, summertime and other songs as well. No autotune, just pure talent. Bill is still with us, sadly Bobby passed in 2003. He is dearly missed, but we still have his 🎶.
Check out his version of the classic Ella Fitzgerald "summertime", you will be pleasantly surprised. He puts his own spin on this classic, it definitely shows his octave range. Also take a look see at "ebb tide" very well done, only the way bobby sang a song whatever genre of 🎶 it may be. Can you imagine time goes by quickly, he has be gone 20 years, dearly missed. What a blessed individual with such a "gifted" voice.
*Hey hey!!* Vietnam veteran here (female too!) we had the BEST music 60's and 70s brings back memories hard to think that was over 50 years ago! Enjoy your youth!
Guys I promise you women still get the chills when they hear these guys sing this song …AND Unchained Melody is the absolutely most beautiful love song ever recorded…Ever!!!
@eawe in fact, they were told dont dance to any songs by The Rightous Brothers, many a young lady had to change their undies after listening to these songs.
No gimmicks,no makeup,no naked girls, no fireworks or light shows. Nothing to distract a person and mask mediocrity like today's music. All you have is a duet of singers and a band. They're selling you ONLY on the most important elements of performing..... THE VOCALS AND THE. MUSIC! These guys are the real deal and free of any studio tricks, electronic gadgets or any of that other b******* that they pass off as music today!! The Righteous Brothers and they are indeed RIGHTEOUS!!!
@@OriginalPuro no one's afraid of words but half of these rappers have the IQ of a tick and their lyrics are trash. The shock effect of using curse words is juvenile and childish. Like that spectacle that pig Rihanna put on last week. No one needs to do that to sell a record if they're good
“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance. Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers. Often referred to as "Blue Eyed Soul' In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......
Bill Medly ( the guy on the right)also sang the lead song from Dirty Dancing. I’ve had the time of my life with Jennifer Warne. You had to really be good back in the day. I happy to have grown up with the music. Real voices real bands. Glad you guys liked it!
I still get chills hearing this song. They were amazing. You'd be surprised how many white men had such soulful voices back then. I'm 64.5 and grew up on all of this. Motown blew it all out of the water. I miss those days for sure. Music definitely brought us together.
When you said "no gadgets", why did I hear Moly from Friday After Next - " You don't need those fidget gadgets". They sure didn't need ANY enhancement, the talent speaks for itself. RIP Bobby Hatfield
I was 16 when this song came out & I am 75 now, glad to see you guys loving this duo & their singing abilities. No special effects just pure clean voices. You made my day, thanks guys.
This is a beautiful thing. I have loved music since I was old 5 years old, and in my 46 years, I have listened to everything from one end of the spectrum to the other. The truly awesome thing about great music that I cherish is that no matter what decade it comes from, if it's great, it becomes timeless. It is so fantastic when someone who was born decades after its release can understand and appreciate what makes it so beautiful. Raw talent, no tricks, no fancy camera work, no half-naked dancers. Just pure music being sung from the soul. I love you guys for the respect and admiration that you show these songs. Not everyone does, but you folks get it. Keep up the great work.
@@willzimjohn Actually, it wasn't lip-synced. Some one replaced the live audio with the studio recording 🤦🏼♀️. The original live performance is available on RUclips complete with screaming girls.
@@willzimjohn In an interview, they said something like Spector was wearing them out, but they didn't mind because they could see each time it was getting better. When Spector had a concept in his head, he wouldn't quit until the singers got it. Too bad they couldn't get inside his head to understand what he wanted in the beginning of the sessions. The wild high "please" near the end was a Bobby ad lib as was the ending of Ebb Tide. Spector was always waving guns around. Don't recall which recording session it was but Darlene Love just refused to sing until the guns disappeared.
No autotune, indeed, but a very special, new kind of recording stuff for that time! It's called "wall of sound". You might wanna check this stuff on wikipedia.
I really think that any woman in the world who had this song sung to her personally, would bring back the loving feeling before the song even ended....thank you for reacting to this. It's a beautiful song, so romantic. Their voices are phenomenal. I enjoy you all so very much

This is *the* most requested song on the radio for the past 30 years! BIll Medley sings baritone and Bobby Hatfield sings tenor and counter-tenor (not falsetto!) Their harmony is perfect! Check out Soul and Inspiration next. I know you listened to Bobby's solo of Unchained Melody already. Bill sang Time of My Life in the movie Dirty Dancing (1987, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey). You guys would love that movie if you haven't seen it.
I'm totally dating myself - I loved that movie when it first came out. Then I meant to recommend it to someone for the dance scenes, and reviewed the story line. And I shook my head over my younger self. Won't recommend the full movie. Dance scenes still great. 😉
Actually, it was the most played single on American radio of the 20th century; in those 36-years it swept away all the songs from 1900 until its release and it was played over 8,000,000 times, I've no idea what the overseas numbers might have been
I love seeing younger people rediscovering older music. The Righteous Brothers were such an amazing duo. Bill Medley (the bass) is still alive and will be on tour this winter!

In 1965 my high school sweetheart & love of my life, Sharon, and I, saw them at the Community Concourse in San Diego. The place was packed. Black & White folks were there. They came out in tuxedos & had an orchestra. WOW. After the first song the whole crowd was looking at each other like they couldn't believe just how good they sounded. When they sang Little Latin Lupe Lou, people were standing and dancing in place. Everyone was smiling & singing along. It was a night i will NEVER FORGET. After the concert Sharon and I went to our favorite parking spot. Back then everyone had a favorite place to oo and. hmmmm. .MAKE OUT.😁 That was the icing on the cake. I was 13 when this hit the radio airwaves in ‘64. The Righteous Brothers were HUGE!…and we absolutely screamed when their 45 played at the sock-hops. They were most definitely swoon worthy.
The Righteous Brothers are my favorite group to watch people react too, for obvious reasons! They called them the Blue Eyed Soul because for some skinny white dudes, they could *SING*. Growing up in Metro Detroit I was raised on a steady stream of Motown and oldies. I remember the first time hearing this song as a little girl and getting goosebumps. I get them every time I listen to this song.
It was a black DJ in Philly, Georgie Woods, who coined the term blue-eyed soul just for them. (They both have blue eyes.) He would call them "his blue-eyed soul brothers" when introducing one of their songs.
One of the greatest songs ever made. I'm so glad you found it. I'm a white boy, now 60, and when I grew up, this was how I saw myself. My soul was always there.

Don't know who you fellows are. This is the first time I've seen y'all doing something on RUclips. But you're playing my music from my day, and y'all seem to be enjoying that. That makes me happy, not because I think my music is better than your music. Music is music. Art is art. Love is love. But I'm happy to see someone enjoying something that gives me pleasure, and finding pleasure themselves. There's too much hurt in the world, and we need more love. I wasn't going to write anything, but I was watching all your eyes as the song was winding down, and y'all touched me. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. I start getting a feel for someone through their eyes. And I have to tell you: I looked at all y'alls eyes, and all I saw was the wonder of another human being seeing another part of the universe they'd never seen before. I come from a time and place when I can honestly say I love you. Take care. Be safe. And thank you for being human.

I'm an 80 y/o white male. I grew up in Anaheim, California. Hatfield attended Anaheim High School, where he was student body president. My sister-in-law and brother were fellow students of Hatfield. They say he was smart, friendly and popular. He was also a little clowish and prone to breaking into song, high-pitched, loud and not always at appropriate times. When the Righteous Brothers duo came to be and started showing up on the charts in the early/mid 60's, I had all the pre-sets on my little 6 transistor radio set to the 4 AM radio stations most likely to play the Brother's current hits. These guys were the only white artists I liked at the time. No 'Rock Around The Clock' for me. At age 10 (yeah, really) I became and still are, an incurable black 'R and B' fan. When Medley formed his new duo, after Bobby's passing I tried to like them, but.... However, when Chris Stapleton hit the music scene, he and the Righteous Brothers, along with many black R and B artists and traditional black regae dominated my Spotify faves. Blue-eyed soul works for me. Thank the heavens for modern electronic technology that allows us to enjoy all the fantastict music regardless of which side of the dirt the artist is on.
I love the fact you guys are listening to this, shows you are open minded and willing to embrace music over all the year. Music brings everyone together. I a lot older then you young men, and grew up in Chicago. We used to have block parties and listen and dance with the whole neighborhood. Oh and the food, and watching our what we thought at the time our old dads running in the street playing football. We were just so free and didn't worry about much, and we never saw color. It didn't matter if it was your mom or not if one of got in trouble we were are in trouble, we just learned to duck and run. Loved those days, still love my old neighborhood, it's just to bad that some not so nice people took it over. You boys keep doing what your doing, introducing music from all generations to the younger kids coming up. Just maybe you will make a positive impact on them. Thank you.
Love this song! so glad you guys played it! now let's hear some more oldies but goodies! The Flamingos, "I Only Have Eyes for You", Martha and the Vandellas, "Dancing in the Streets", "Jimmy Mack", The Shirells, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow", The Ronettes, "Be My Baby" for just a few. It's good the younger generation can hear the classics, good music from the 60s, keep it coming you guys, love you!!

I'm in my seventies now, and I still can sing that song word for word. I adored the Righteous Brothers! Love this kind of honest talent. No auto-tune, no computerized fixing...they were just plain talented! WOW!
I am 66, remember roller skating to the RB. Had no idea who they were, but hearing the song (older verson) brought back sweet memories.
Thank you mam
Yes! We did.
My brothers served in Vietnam as well. Thank you so much for your service and sacrifices. 💌
Thank you for your service.
Me too, soon to be 78… it’s good to see the youngsters lovin’ it!
My brutha's this is what was called blue eyed Soul in Chicago back in the 60's . Could listen to the Righteous Brothers for hours .
Guys I promise you women still get the chills when they hear these guys sing this song …AND Unchained Melody is the absolutely most beautiful love song ever recorded…Ever!!!
Ever ❤️
Correct. I concur.
Back in the day Daughters were told by their parents not to dance to this song at prom.
@eawe in fact, they were told dont dance to any songs by The Rightous Brothers, many a young lady had to change their undies after listening to these songs.
OMG!!! You made my day!! lolol

👍💯🇦🇺🎵🎶

Why are people afraid of words?
@@OriginalPuro no one's afraid of words but half of these rappers have the IQ of a tick and their lyrics are trash. The shock effect of using curse words is juvenile and childish. Like that spectacle that pig Rihanna put on last week. No one needs to do that to sell a record if they're good
Aren't you a stupid troglodyte. Are you forgetting that guys like KISS and Queen existed and they use studio tricks and use hedonistic lyrics?
You boomers reek of the most empty-headed ignorance in terms of judging the now.
You young men are adorable. This music was from my time. I'm old but still enjoy all music.
“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duo Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary.
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century
"Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History...
Often referred to as "Blue Eyed Soul'
In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......
Now you young men understand why we older people love this kind of music! Thank you for venturing into the music we grew up with
Bill Medly ( the guy on the right)also sang the lead song from Dirty Dancing.
I'm 45. I grew up with Hall & Oates' cover. When I hear the Righteous Brothers I always get chills to the bone.
No gimmicks, no gadgets, no sound box, just pure talent.
You got that right
When you said "no gadgets", why did I hear Moly from Friday After Next - " You don't need those fidget gadgets". They sure didn't need ANY enhancement, the talent speaks for itself. RIP Bobby Hatfield
And you can actually understand the lyrics.
This music is called “blue-eyed soul”, glad you enjoyed it! ❤
The tall one is Bill Medley. The shorter guy was Bobby Hatfield
Just like Hall & Oates, blue eyed or brown eyed, just great, moving & grooving music!❤
I think Bill said that the Black DJ who first played this song coined that term, just for the Righteous Brothers.
I’m not sure which I enjoyed more, the song or watching you guys bobbing your heads to this classic song! Thanks for pure joy, boys!
I forget who said it, but good musical sounds are always good. Doesn't matter their age.
This my friends is what you call "Blue Eyed Soul"... No autotune. Just pure, authentic talent.
I appreciate you guys enjoying the music we grew up with. I was 16 years old when this song came out, now 77.
no digital mastering, no auto-tune, and in one take - live.
@@peterheinrichs7634 The wall of sound was how the instruments were assembled and used and basement with a natural echo.
Wow!!! This song has endured for generations; never gets old. Love this❤️
I really think that any woman in the world who had this song sung to her personally, would bring back the loving feeling before the song even ended....thank you for reacting to this. It's a beautiful song, so romantic. Their voices are phenomenal. I enjoy you all so very much
I'm 72 grew up in the 60's to this music and still love it above all else. Check out Otis Redding's "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" if you haven't heard it.
- Otis's ' I've been loving you too long ' live at Monterey Pops is also worth a listen. Another one gone too soon.
Breaking hearts for damn near 60 years. That, neighbors, is greatness.
They have as good of voices of anybody. Who could sing this song better? any two. Amazing. this is a GOATed song.
I'm glad to hear that, because every time I see one of these reactions, I think, "I hope Bill Medley is watching these kids reacting to him and Bobby and getting knocked out."
It’s the BEST to see your reaction to the music my generation grew up with- enjoy!
You guy's have no idea what you missed! The 60's through 80's , even the 90's was incredible. Always rockin ! We had awesome tunes to rock to. I'm 67 and still rockin! Righteous Brothers, Chubby Checkers, Aretha Franklin, Aerosmith, Journey, Pink Floyd, just to name a few. You guy's seem to like music and I feel bad that you actually missed those years!!! Rock on forever!
The music died in the mid-70's. And by the 80's it was crap. I mean BOSTON?!! Yuck! Bahahaha!!🤣
@@saliseydelmounce8908 I love the 80's.
You can't Just band the whole decade in to one thought.
Every decade has shitty music and every decade has timeless classics.
Hey kid rock n roll, rock on...
Hey. Ol’ white lady here. I don’t remember the first time I heard this. But, I can feel it again watching you guys hear it for the first time. My heart is just bursting right now.❤
The emotion they put into it. That soul hits you hard in a good way.
They were both in their early 20s in this video. Bill Medley was 23 and still kicking today at 81 years old. Unfortunately we lost Bobby Hatfield years ago!
Bill Medley did the song for Footloose movie

I went into the USAF. & off to Vietnam. She got married & I got married but we ALWAYS kept in touch..We had that special FIRST LOVE you never forget. Her husband recently died & I am divorced. We are in different states but when talking on the phone, it's still there. God maybe has a plan for us to be together after all these years. She still is so beautiful to me. I am still in great shape after being an athlete & gym rat my entire life...& don't need viagra either. Our plans aren't always God's plans. Aee shall see soon when we meet face to face again. Here recent photo is awesome. If you pray, pray for us. God may give us some years together
Wish you both the best. Life is finite.
Kenneth, your story made me cry. So amazing to see each other again. Best wishes! And this group of young men... so impressed by all of you!
I hope you are together again. The Universe ensures that those souls who belong together will be. Best wishes to you both.
Music History Matters
A truly beautiful song in every aspect. To only think that their voices sounded so mature at 24 years old each in the video was astounding.
I was 13 when this hit the radio airwaves in ‘64. The Righteous Brothers were HUGE!…and we absolutely screamed when their 45 played at the sock-hops. They were most definitely swoon worthy.
When the Righteous Brothers sang, you felt it in your soul. Thanks for playing it. I haven't heard it in years. Love you guyz
They had a reputation for spending thousands of hours practicing their voices and melodies. It's not "just" talent, it's talent and grit.
can't reach this level without the talent to pull you through.
Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley were two outstanding singers and musicians. This song was one of two top ten hits they recorded.
Welcome to the Golden age of music: '60s rock, melody, and Motown. Got me thru high school.
Am in the process of moving back to Metro Detroit after 47 years in NYC. We grew up on the same stuff (which included CKLW, WKNR, and WXYZ).
Remember that this song was produced by the late Phil Spector who was famous for that wall of sound. Bill and Bobby nailed this performance.
It's nice to see a bunch of young men go back in time and appreciative good music.
It goes to show you, good music transcends generations
One of the greatest songs ever made. I'm so glad you found it. I'm a white boy, now 60, and when I grew up, this was how I saw myself. My soul was always there.
Luv watching the younger people see our music for the 1st time. And keeping it going.
100 years from now this song will still be a banger or whatever they call it at that time
I’m a musician and played Motown Music in my younger days..but this Music I played and listened to when I was relaxing!!
No electronic enhancements, no auto-tune, just pure, great voices.
The backup singers included a young Cher and Darlene Love. They were with a group called the Blossoms.
Fire and Ice!!! PERFECT description. I’m old enough to be your grandma and never heard it better. You young men are truly awesome and give us old ones hope for this world and life! I love that you listen to all music. ❤
The most played song in the twentieth century!
Two of the finest male voices to ever grace modern music. Thanks for your reaction.
I'm so glad to see you guys enjoying our baby boomer music. They were one of my favorites. I was 15 yrs old in 1964 when they came out!!!💖💖
Great times, was only just a teenager at 13.
I was...1; but, AM radio in the 70s is where my music ed took root- it's my favorite, my go to for just listening. Plus family playing the LPs and 45s _ even some 73s 🎶🎵🤗
I was a freshman in high school in 64. I was 13 years old. That's the real voices.
Huge respect for you guys for checking out this stuff from way back and loving it. Im a child of the 1950s and experienced this huge explosion of talent emerge in the '60s. Saw the Righteous Brothers, the Stones, the Who, the Kinks, Hendricks, Otis, Dionne and hundreds of others - all live- and wonderful. So many memories- in tears now.... Thanks again and take care
Don't ever lose your love for music. Watching your reaction to the oldies is priceless This is my era and I will always have the music in my heart, Thank you for sharing.
You guys are beautiful listening to these brothers ❤️ for the first time. Way back decades we listened to them and watching all of you react to them is priceless.
As a child in the 60's my mother would say don't dare touch that Radio. She loves the Righteous Brothers. She also loved Unchained Melody.
These guys were the real deal.. I was 14 when this song was released.. it was a huge hit! I saw them during their 25th anniversary tour.. they were still great - still hitting all the notes! I appreciate seeing you guys enjoying them… us ‘oldies’ had the best music!! 😉
I'm 71 years old and Unchained Melody has been my favorite song 🎵 of all time. I love 💘 to think that we are sharing this group with this fine group of young adults for their first time. Right on Righteous Brothers. Rusty D.
I loved it, absolutely loved it! when Bill and Bobby sing it's pure magic! I'm glad you got to see this one, I wish you had seen this one first, but you get the requests as they come! You are such a nice bunch of guys and happy every time you listen to any music, that's how it should be, music is the universal language! Keep those reactions coming I'm here for it!
I’m an old white guy. Grew up with the Righteous Brothers and so many other soulful talents. Great times back then. Love your videos guys, keep exploring
Hi guys, I am English and think you are all fab! Have you ever played Dusty Springfield songs? She was amazing too. The Righteous Brothers were Epic and their voices and song writing inimitable. Bravo to The Righteous Brothers, another awesome gem from America. Xxxx
Dusty is an icon!
Dusty Springfield is the All-Time Greatest Female Vocalist , imho ♥

The MOST played record of that year by a country mile, they compliment each other so beautifully. Love that blue eyed soul. Righteous indeed
Love seeing young brothers appreciating real music...NO AUTOTUNE ❤
I love watching you guys. You're fun and funny and, most importantly, you're honest in your appraisals. I love seeing you react to the music of my day.
I’m fortunate to have baby boomer parents, so this is the music I grew up on listening to on our trips in the car, whether just to the grocery store or miles away for a day trip (which my Dad was famous for) or a week long camping trip. So glad that you guys get the opportunity to hear this wonderful song performed by these righteous men with their enchanting voices! And I love your Biggie poster…I’m a Big Papa fan too!
When you have the most requested and the most played song on the radio of the twentieth century, performed by the greatest male duo of all time, THAT'S A BANGER!!!
This is a beautifully written song, and these guys killed everything they touched.
So glad you liked it! Thanks for keeping great music alive!
Just spine tingling awesome. Could listen all day ❤❤
This is one of my parent's favorite songs. Thanks for reacting to the classics!
I have to…. THANK ALL OF YOU AGAIN!
Great music can be really old, or 20 years ago , or Today! But, when it’s 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥… it will Always be loved!
I know you have so many requests, I’m just so glad you got to this!
You guys are the BEST! 💖💕💞💖💕💞🎤
I am so glad you found this song.
It is one of my favorites.
They took a lot of grief for sounding too R&B.
Thank you.
Bill Medley opened a dance club in Fountain Valley, Ca called "Medleys" and it was super popular, limo's lined up unloading people.
I'll second "I Only Have Eyes For You" one of my favorite oldies❤
I Only Have Eyes For You is absolutely mesmerizing. Please react!
Yeah, Jimmy Mack!!!!!
First time viewer and I love your reaction to this classic. Slightly before my time but I grew up listening in the 70s. This is such a wonderful contrast to the Righteous Brothers talent. Glad to see the classics are still being enjoyed by the younger generations.
