Unrelated, I know, but since this is your only comment that isn't a reply...is there an effective way to combat the extremely powerful ranged enemies in a hard-mode dungeon farm? I just noticed that in the example you used, you were being attacked by a lot of unavoidable projectiles that'd probably tear apart any player without godmode

How did you make the one way walls for the spider farm example?
The fact that the dungeon guardian can also spawn with the new cursed dungeon walls is hilarious and terrifying. It can open the door to a lot of trolling. On the bright side, it can also open a lot of possibilities for puzzles and adventure maps.
Mazes. Imagine a Large World Map Sized Maze. With only one path that snakes it's way around the entire world, up and down, left and right... the rest of the map is actual dungeon walls... and while there exists a natural dungeon entrance, where you could technically defeat Skeletron... Getting there would be a nightmare... Walking along, only for the Dungeon Guardian to Spawn... not even the Rod of Harmony could keep you safe... if only at most 1% of the world is safe...
It can allow to kill the dungeon guardian slightly easier because you could spawn it while riding a minecart or something and be able to out run it from the get go.

If you toss luminite brick into the shimmer, it gives a different brick depending on the moon phase.
I use a little bit of that in a segment of today's video

The new unsafe walls also make us able to complete previously unbeatable challenges, like a block randomized world, as you loose the blocks, walls, etc, breaking the enemies spawns almost everytime

@@h_the_great is there anything that can't be done on one world now? The only thing I know of would be the vampire knives/scourge but that can be placed on things like skyblock, and it's literally just the one item

Admittedly, this was made within 2 weeks of the update dropping, but there's a lot of missing info and even wrong information here.
Lihzahrds don't have any block count requirement. You stand in front of wall, they spawn on bricks. 1 wall and 1 brick is the baseline here. In the then-new Remix seed, you can remove the brick too.
Your spider and desert builds use way more walls than they need to and get much lower spawn rates than they should. Instead of placing walls above the spawn blocks, place them directly behind the spawn blocks. You'll get 100% spawn conversion with a fraction of the walls. For dungeon, place the walls 1 tile tall directly above the dungeon bricks; no need to go 5 blocks high, but the condition there is different so the walls need to be above rather than behind. Pre-Plantera, you can use any unsafe wall for dungeon spawns, not just dungeon walls, as long as the block is brick.
For cobweb farming, use the surface in a world that's not The Constant to avoid spider spawns and get 6x faster cobweb generation. Use vertical or horizontal corridors that are 4 blocks wide/tall so that all walls can generate cobwebs, rather than just the edges. Preventing spiders from spawning entirely is nice because town NPCs don't block spider spawns at all. With small cobweb numbers, you can guarantee cobwebs dropping from specific walls by hammering the wall before you pick up the cobweb; it's an average gain of 0.75 cobwebs as compared to the normal 0.25.
While you don't need sand to spawn underground desert enemies, forgoing sand means forgoing the other major use of desert walls, skyrocketing the spawn rate. Placing 1500 sand blocks and standing in front of safe desert walls gives you a whopping 5x spawn rate, immediately reaching the cap while not allowing any underground enemies to spawn so you can farm other enemies instead.

I have two questions. 1) Did you mean to say "unsafe desert walls"? 2) Does that sand setup produce a higher spawn rate than jungle?
No, I mean safe desert walls. If you stand in front of unsafe desert walls, underground desert enemies start spawning. Safe desert walls still work for underground desert spawn rates, while giving you all the benefits of safe walls.
Underground desert has a spawn multiplier of 0.2 and jungle has a spawn multiplier of 0.4, with desert having priority over jungle. In other words, underground desert has twice the spawn rates of jungle; enough to hit the maximum 1/60 in underground and cavern, and in underworld you can reach 1/60 with a battle potion. The downside is you need 1500 sand blocks for underground desert, and only 140 jungle grass blocks for jungle.
There's also a new item called the Shadow Candle which negates enemy-reducing effects of NPCs, which means the Skeleton Merchant won't interfere with your farming sessions even if he does spawn

Enemy-reducing spawn only happens on towns (2 or more npc nearby), so I don't think he interferes with the spawn chance

This is massive for adventure builds. Also was to instantly kill any player who wanders off the path by putting the dungeon walls and summoning the guardian.
This is perhaps the biggest game changer of 1.4.4
Never built a farm before but with this change I'm thinking I might actually do so
my favourite thing about shimmer is still probably getting pre-hardmode crates in hardmode, which helps a lot as a builder who plays non-journey-mode still and uses wooden and iron crates a lot in builds
something extremely useful for hardmode with the shimmer is it downgrades so you can turn any extra ore to iron for the mechbosses
So far i've used to get counterpart ore for builds. Decraft wings to use the same souls of flight to upgrade the next wing, decraft titanium armor to craft frost armor, and so on
Biy 1 sec timers from the mechanic and toss em in shimmer, then toss the gold clock into shimmer to get gold and sell it, stonks

its insane how much the shimmer changes how we play the game wasnt expecting a new liquid to be so cool and useful!
for the spider walls, it will also work if the wall is ONLY behind player, then spiders would spawn everywhere, which is much easier to achieve than placing all the walls at mob spawning area. (yes there are two conditions and either *one* would make them spawn.)
I really like how Relogic are making it possible to make completely custom maps without the need of any external software! So far the only thing you can't do is change the world size and spawn point in game, but let's see what the future holds XD

These also make building things other than farms so much better. I've been working on custom biomes in my world as a fun project but since I still want the functionality of things I couldn't move things like the desert, and didn't want to move the jungle so the temple could still be in the jungle. Now I could make an entirely custom desert, jungle temple, and even dungeon that still works exactly the same as naturally generated ones but looks even more amazing.
even if this wasn't a thing, you could still use Tedit unless your on console or mobile

I want to see an adventure map make use of the portable dungeon guardian, maybe to block off certain paths till you beat skeleton, or an invisible maze using cursed and noncursed walls
The level of information you bring to the table with things I would never have known is seriously insane. Every new playthrough becomes something else entirely because of things I learn from you.
I'm imagining a puzzle map using the dungeon backgrounds where you use the safe versions for the majority, but there are patches of unsafe ones that stepping in front of spawns the dungeon guardian so you have to either navigate an invisible maze, or use different colors to differentiate the safe/unsafe so players have to dodge the patches of different colored walls

The dungeon walls could be insanely useful for anyone trying to build a way to actually kill the dungeon guardian too since you are now able to spawn him where ever you like as long as it's underground.

I assume the condition for spawning a Dungeon Guardian in an artificial dungeon like it is normally: being behind an cursed dungeon wall while underground before Skeletron for DG to spawn. This could make a nice death loop to troll friends with.
Step #1: make a shimmer pool at spawn. Make sure spawn is covered in shimmer
Step #2: place the cursed dungeon walls at underground level or cavern level.
Step #3: make a box around the cursed dungeon wall with blocks they can't break
Step #4: cover the path to the trap with blocks so shimmer can drag them there
Step #5: invite your friends to the server and watch the chaos unfold
If done correctly the trap should be unstoppable as they die over and over again indefinitely until someone sponges the shimmer away or they equip the chromatic cloak to get around the shimmering debuff. This will be a funny way to introduce shimmer to your friends in the form of a prank >:)

The cobweb spawning spider cavern wall tiles seem great for custom spooky builds! If you do it above ground then you don't even have to worry about spawning spiders
They might've changed some things since this video came out (which was only four months ago). I tested it yesterday and you can now have a spider farm by just placing spider walls behind where your character will stand. No need to put them anywhere else.

Question: will the skeletons still spawn if the dungeon brick is 'turned off' via actuators? Would be really useful to be able to turn the whole farm on/off with a press of a button
From what Khaios said about enemies needing to spawn on top of the dungeon bricks I think that might work! I haven't tested that though but that would be really useful!

I'll have to test to see if you can stand in front of a single unsafe wall and have it spawn its enemies, or if your entire body needs to be in front of it. If it works with one block, I could possibly get this to work. Interesting. I'll give it a thought!

Haven’t watched the video yet, but I immediately knew what the subject matter was. I would just like to add that this particularly helpful for people who want to create a custom Dungeon that functions as an actual bone, as they now aren’t confined by the shape of the original dungeon.
Question: do you need a 2X3 area for the walls to count or can you place a single wall and stack them?
Just tested it out, you can use a single wall, however, it has to be at eye level (mid level, in front of your eye). Anything on the bottom third, top third, or back half of your character doesn't trigger the wall. So only one spot on your character actually triggers the spawning rules. In all yes, you can use one wall, but no you cannot stack multiple wall types, unfortunately.

The spider thing is interesting since in caves they just spawn anywhere as long as you're infront of the wall. Farmed them the other day on a new world so it's fresh in my mind how I had to go hunt the little rats off in side caves

I would love to see an all purpose farm with these walls. Or at least the more important one. Imagine getting dungeon loot, ice loot, corruption/crimson/hallowed loot ect all at the same time.

I would love to see a deeper dive into Dungeon farming. I know certain enemies only spawn in front of certain walls. What enemies would you want for what stage of the game or class, and which walls are they from? Could you leave out a certain wall and not have any enemies that can hit you through blocks?
honestly, banger video, and also amazing youtuber, if i'm being honest, you can hit 500k by the end of this year, or close to it, at least i hope so, and thanks, because now after i beat skeletron i can make dungeon walls to farm ectoplasm for the pumpkin moon without being killed by paladins, have an awesome day man :D

Man with the amount of people who still play and love this game you'd think the devs would never stop updating and adding new and more creative things, I played star whatever a bit but nothing and I mean nothing has brought me more joy in gaming than terreria... Shit 10 years later I'm playing it with my son ffs and still finding new and exciting things to do and try with him

The Dungeon farm is also extremely useful for a near-infinite supply of BBQ ribs, one of the best "Exquisitely Stuffed" food items in the entire game lasting for a whopping 24 minutes as well as dropping from a good variety of dungeon enemies, all whose attacks dont go through blocks.
Wouldn't the dungeon farm spawn both types of Skull enemies though?
Now we just need some fully-automatic-all-biome-all-drops-all-fishing-biomes-all-in-one-farm tutorial!
