    My rule of thumb is bring enough cash to pay the tax tags & title so it doesn’t get rolled into the loan. Or, bring enough cash to buy out an after market warranty from the dealer. They can give it to you at cost in most cases.

    This is terrible advice. Being scared to put a solid downpayment on a car suggests to banks that you are likely to walk away from your car if something happens to it. If you can only put 4k down, you cannot afford the car; period. If you CHOOSE to only put that down because you feel you need cash for repairs, you cannot afford the car.
    The point about makinng sure its going towards the car suggests you dont understand financing. Pay your tag, title and any gap insurance in cash. Get your loan from a Bank or Credit Union BEFORE you even go to a dealership. Finance as LITTLE as possible or you get destroyed in interest payments. If you keep the car for just a few years, you are paying MOSTLY INTEREST. You'll be upside down in the car when you are ready to sell. That is the point of a downpayment.

    • @mar_in_the_7972
      @mar_in_the_7972  2 месяца назад

      I definitely agree with you for someone that’s just now getting in the game of buying cars. My first hellcat down payment was definitely needed due to me not having having a loan for that much etc. but going to my second hellcat and third I didn’t have to put down anything plus my interest rates was lower than 4.4 due to my credit. It seem like I made more of my cars each year as the dealer kept buying them back from me in the range of 10 to 12k.
      Overall you are right if someone is new at this but when you have over 15 years of credit history (800 +) with cars and good credit. interest rates are very low compared to someone that’s newbie. That’s why I recommend people to take their time and realize what you getting into before you purchase a car like that

    • @anadonnis
      @anadonnis 2 месяца назад

      @mar_in_the_7972 Car loans are Amortized loans. That means the interest paid per car payment, is based on the amount of the principal left on the loan. To keep it simple, the longer your loan lasts (how ever many months), the more you pay in interest and the less principal you're paying per car note.
      Telling people to take their time paying off a car is why people trading in a Scat to get a Hellcat, run into hella negative equity (ie. not enough principal paid on Scat loan). I'm not being critical of how you get your cars, I'm just saying the advice is not good for most people. If you cannot afford 20% down (in this economy) you got no business buying the car. UNLESS you're in a position to write the car off as a business expense which may make a lease or no/low down-payment purchase feasible.

    Most people are not dumb enough to ONLY put down 4-10,000 on a hellcat If the price-tag is over 60k… 20k for a down payment is smart and wise if you won’t want to pay $800-1200 a month in a car payment 🤨

    BS put down money saves you money on that interest. Cap that putting money down is bad. I will agree make sure where that money is going because they can pack your loan with extras to eat up that money and keep for themselves. in some cases putting money can get you a better interest rate. Not putting money you will need to buy rap insurance it's only $600-$900 for the life of your loan and if you get to where your car has equity then you can cancel it. But if you put no money down now with the interest rates you most likely will be upside down for about 4 years just making monthly payments. Yes i will pay it off early BUT 95% of people never do or even keep the car for more then 3 of 4 years which then means you will take negative equity to your next vehicle. Then rinse wash repeat. 99% of vehicles are not assets people. stop letting people tell you that. we are in a weird market for the last few years (yes). BUT do you want to be hold a bag of 10-15K over market value when the market starts to correct??????? Because you had to be and look cool to others????? Or would you like to keep that 10-15k in pocket or bank
