- Skyline: Inside the alien spaceship
What’s happening in this Skyline movie clip?
Elaine wakes up to discover that she is inside the alien ship. Surrounded by dead people and alien tentacles in a dark room, she sees the human corpses around her being sucked into tubes as she looks for her husband Jarrod.
What’s the movie Skyline about?
In the sci-fi thriller Skyline, strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.
The story starts when Jarrod and his wife Elaine arrive in Los Angeles, California for Jarrod's best friend Terry's birthday party. They celebrate with Terry's wife, Candice, and his assistant, Denise. The morning following the party, blue lights descend from the sky, hypnotizing anyone who looks at them. The light causes people to become zombie-like and immobilized; they are then collected by the light machines. A fight for survival begins for the group of friends who will do whatever it takes to protect each other.
Skyline is directed and produced by the Brothers Strause (Alien vs. Predator: Requiem), whose company Hydraulx has provided visual effects for numerous blockbusters such as Avatar.

Skyline Aliens : "How is this human mind resisting our commands?!"
Human mind : *DOOM Music playing on full volume*
Bra 😂
Actually the music was ALL TSFH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jared had a close call and was almost abducted earlier in the film. For whatever reason, he had built up some kind of immunity and his brain glowed red. It’s never explained and the movie just ends with them fighting their way out…
it happened like 3 or 4 times. he was almost about to get yoinked and then he gets tackled or knocked down.
So that's why
@@pichanao1069 it is highly implied that their technology for abduction also slightly starts a compatibility process for their technologies interfaces. If you dont get immediately yanked into their processing ship, your brain starts to adapt. hes a fluke and was physically prevented from being abducted a handful of times. THis movie was originally going to be a small indie game with a bioshock feel to it as a "big daddy" in an organic suit, that has an inexplicable urge to save a pregnant woman. But then finds out youre the father and you dont remember being abducted. it did not get the green light and then only got funding from various influencers like youtubers who were given small sponsorships to do marketing. its a weird internet story. the strause brothers and rogue took what the could get. not bad for 10 mill. you see these actors in a bunch of shows and started most of their careers 13 years ago.

One of the funniest out of nowhere badass endings of the film

What an ending!
You have to suffer the whole film to understand what an AMAZING ending this has... its like it was done on purpose. Brilliant
Nah, just tell me.
@610Hobbies OK, so, his undying diligence to his GF and his force for survival made him inco.patible to the procedure of serving his human brain to the golem... hence why his brain was a red Hue. His mind rejected the procedure, upon awakening to his wife's screams he shredded the whole fucking business... then it "ends" with him standing firm against the Alien forces... the credits scene is a comic book esq scenario of how he defeats the hordes and takes his GF (and unborn baby) away from the whole situ. It's actually brilliant
@@rickyfinn2763 God, what a simp.
@@610Hobbies fuckin LOL 😆 😂 🤣
@@rickyfinn2763 By the way, I don't mean to impose, but you sound like you've seen your fair share of alien abduction movies, do you have any you can recommend? I'm doing a story that includes aliens, mostly green and greys, it's supposed to be more comedy than horror, but I'm still looking for movies to get inspiration from for an upcoming abduction/experimentation scene, the biggest chunk of inspiration so far has come from Fire In The Sky, but also taken bits from Progeny, I didn't like much of what The 4th Kind had to offer tho.
The script:
"gently caress her face with his 10 inch razor blade claws"
This movie had balls man, an odd way to end but a bold decision nonetheless. The mysterious and sinister machinations of alien experimentation is probably the most horrifying thing imaginable, fictional or not. I was so disturbed I seriously had to keep reminding myself it was PG-13
ROFL! have a good one!
Kinda reminds me of the beginning of that game Prey (2006)
@@ED-le1pr That game was such a masterpiece. When I heard that a "new" Prey game was being made... I was soooo hoping for a sequel. Big let down lol.
@Bittybaff - it had balls... large ones, just hanging there. And I also bet they all bang after these scenes. Nothing disturbing about it at all.
You want to to see disturb? Or at least something low level? See something like "Hellriser", "In the Mouth of Madnes", or a low level "Event Horizon" - or any of the top gore Japanese movies.
Yeah... this will disturb you much more ;)
It disturbed me as well got my imagination going off the scales.
"Even in death, i shall protect you..."
True love
"Mum? dad? this is Jared, my boyfriend"
*Alien hooting and roaring*
"Pretty nice catch, huh?!"
One of my favorite endings, it's so surreal but so f*cking cool. I just wish it was left in one movie, no follow up, it would've kept a legendary status.
I remember renting the movie at my local video store, without even knowing what it was, you know, you just see something, looks cool and go, OK, let's watch it... (my god how I miss going out to a physical place to rent a bluray, talking with people about cinema...)
Anyway, we ended up watching it without expectations and it just BLEW our minds away. Just mentioned it to my wife and she was like, yeah.... I kind of remember the movie.... and then OH YEAH! That was awesome. All of these, led me to watch for the protagonist, who was like, I know this guy but I'm not sure from where...
And he's the boyfriend of Claire, from Six Feet Under.... anyway, crazy chain of events hahaha.
The problem with Skyline, is that it's a perfectly serviceable apocalyptic sci-fi horror movie that doesn't do much go set itself apart from the deluge of others coming out at the time... but then it ends with a set up for a FAR more interesting and unique movie that never came to be. It leaves you questions that you would be excited to see answers to, but in all honesty, probably never intended to answer.
So the aliens figured out how to harvest and reprogram brains, but haven't figured out a way to tell if the reprogramming worked before hooking it up to a robot?
Given that the Aliens are mass producing these bio-robots to keep control of the Earth, is likely that is what happened. Or there was a glitch and misread the brain as a "reprogrammed" instead of detecting that the process failed.
I get it nevertheless they aren't perfect beings
Look at all the automated manufacturing stuff we've made and still have flawed products come out of them. This most definitely looks like an automated system.
No, they just underestimated their opponent and the human will to survive
Nothing is perfect,
Took me a long time to realize how imaginative this movie is
And the vfx is good for a 2008 movie unlike nowaday
The idea for this movie came from a very old novel that I read. It was a free novel that I downloaded from Project Gutenberg. I was very surprised when I saw this movie. The story wasn't exactly the same, but the part where the human brain was used as the computer for a robot, and the one person became self aware after his brain was in the robot. That was in that novel.
What is the book called?
I've had the exact same idea for about two decades, as a potential video game plot. Been too occupied (and lazy) to bring to life. Well - there goes my originality lol!
What novel?

Because it sucked... duh?
I enjoyed it too. The human characters were as dull as dishwater and the nuclear bomb scene was ridiculous, but the whole unstoppable alien invasion trope was handled really well.
@@RUclipsIsRetarded689 still cant think of a single reason😂
@@RetrovexOfficial I can think of several.
The acting sucked.
The aliens made no sense.
The Cgi was laughly bad.
@@Orcawhale1no.
This movie makes it look like it had a 'hopeful' ending, atleast he can die protecting her, sure... but, he still lost his human body. Even if they win the war, they can never have a normal life. Its similar to movies where the protagonists lose their bodies, but their spirit/soul/consciousness survives in an alternate form. Unless the woman herself gets an alien body like him, they won't have a normal life.
This actually wasn't a bad movie. Rented it over a decade ago. It did set itself up for a sequel from that sort of cliffhanger, but I never watched the sequel, which the sequel's box office record was abysmal yet still held better than average rating.
there is a third one to ..
Hold up what?! I remember watching this movie when I was like, 10. HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THE SEQUEL(S)?!
One of the coolest portrayals of aliens I've seen in a movie.
After this scene the fight is just badass with the credits rolling..
This is where the movie should’ve started XD
Ahhh the red glowing brain saved the day.
I wonder what color my brain glows.
This is where the movie actually starts and ends at the same time!! Too bad, they wasted a lotta potential.
Había mucho potencial
I think due to low budget for the first movie they wanted to expand their unverse when it end in cliffhanger so that when the sequel came they can have a much higher budget i mean even here the cgi is not bad but if they have like 100 mil or more then they can have like tranfomer type of cgi and war against the alien but idk
One of the few times I wish a movie had a second part...
Which it did.
But it's not continued from this scene
@@pichanao1069 it does...like 30 mins in they introduce and continue their story

You will never convince me that this entire movie wasn't made just so the guy could say "they're here to help" about the drones midmovie
I did enjoy that in this movie humans did not win against a more advanced alien invader. That rarely happens in these types of movies

This was the only non comedy movie where I saw everyone in the theatre laugh at the end
Laugh at what aspect ? This is one of the more depressing endings Ive seen in film, his natural body was thrown away and theyre stuck with this
@@EBTS-3 because the movie was literally pointless. Everyone died and got nothing achieved and at the end it’s literally the MC getting into a brawl with all the other aliens at the end, and if the nuke couldn’t kill them, his fists can’t. He’s not even “special” he just retained his identity so he was going to lose the fight anyway but they played it up like it was dramatic
I see now that makes sense, for me thats what made it better than the second, in the sequel jaron and the mother do both die, but they made the (new) protagonists survive and end the invasion and it felt so cliche and watered down.
Im no fatalist but I liked how each plan failed and at the end theres only a glimpse of hope. It was a unique and macabre outcome that highlights human limitation. And I think that ending was played up because despite the end of the world and the loss of his natural body, love for her and the protection of his baby prevailed, depressingly good

This movie had so much potential, one of the best alien invasion scenes ever. The acting and writing absolutely sucked though. Watch it for the special effects and that's it.
Agreed. It was like a teen movie project with writing. It had ALOT of potential....this is the type of movie that actually needs a Reboot...not great ones already...ones like this.

And what now? Like he could take down an army of these things… she would get whatever they did to people anyway…
See, love is stronger than death...
WHY WOULD ALIENS NEED OUR STUPID BRAINS...
Ask Borg
Brains are pretty much organic processors,I'm guessing when they take over the brain it erases or suppresses the personality, that why the Jared character is a problem for them he got a cool new body and kept his mind intact!

Best scene forever 😍
Okay this movie is w e i r d.
I really liked this movie, and I was very disappointed it never got a sequel, especially since the ending to it, had ended this way.
Wouldn’t they notice that the brain is a different colour?
Pretty sure that was just for the audience's sake.
su cerebro es den otro color porque el cerebro de ese hombre ""no lo pueden controlar los alienigenas"" y por eso mismo el se rebela incluso estando dentro de un cuerpo alienigena
but how would you know then? Anyway, the aliens are colorblind.
Its kind a like a balloon ( they wern't looking for it )
Honestly, if this scenario ever played out, the likely end would be the US and Russians loosing their entire nuclear arsenal. The aliens would win a pile of ashes.
Humans do have the mentality of "if I can't have it no one can"
They tried a nuke on the alien "mothership" in the movie. It didn't work out as expected.
@@Darqshadow I don't think that's true. I think most of us have a caricature view of what the human race is like. But when we look at our friends and family we don't see that. We see ourselves and those around us as different from the rest of humanity. When in reality all humanity is like that. Why would this need her and did Egypt get the walls right so what is this to it Ameca?
I loved how they made the sequels into a more rated R Sci-Fi action flick. It was a good idea to tone up the violence, due to the first movies disappointment.

Tbh the aliens, the way the harvest and basically regenerate fucking terrified me, I was perhaps 15 or so
Very kind of the aliens to create bipedal forms with front-facing eyes so that a human brain isn't wildly confused by the experience
the whole idea that they need a human brain to animate those tarrantula creatures is ridiculous. Evolution on another planet would most definitely not have any compatibility with an alien species physiology, but whatever.
@@FredPlanatia i mean. essentially what their doing is coopting the brain as a computer.
@@truthfulkarl an alien species would have developed far more efficient ways to compute than using a brain with completely alien physiology. It just makes no sense at all. But it doesn't have to. Its supposed to be a scary entertaining movie. Just that the scientist in my rebels at the nonsense.
@@FredPlanatia they are manufacturing combat automata locally. its logical to use resources you have at hand for that kind of thing
They aren't aliens.
The power of love
Why do they always make the aliens to act bad?
Because reality is nothing like Star Trek. Space is big, and even if you can travel faster than light your resources are finite and will diminish quickly. Whether in the cosmos it's aliens consuming entire planets , or cells consuming one another in a microscope. Regardless of scale.. nature will simply be.
Avatar didn't, nor ET, Paul, and I'm sure there's others.
See how we human treated and still treat each other even through we are the same species. Different? yes but our similarities outweight them. Even people of the same race treat each over horribly if they arent from the same countries, religion, ect...
One of the reason why some countries are more economically successful is because they stole, enslaved and k1lled others ethnicities. Stole their time, labors, ressources, invention and used it to make their countries better. Not only that but those countries make sure that poorer countries stay in unstable situation ( ex: war) has it give them power and their ressources for cheaper. So an alien civilisation to become advanced would have had to do the same to be able to travel to earth .Aliens are just doing the same humanity did.The only reason european and asian arent seen more as villain in history books is because they 'won' and even when they lost were still powerful enough to. And we all know its the winner who write history. Japanese commited one of the worst crime against humanity and yet less than 50 years later they are seen as peaceful people.
