      It's the "Ima just head out" reaction, lol
      But yeah, I would do the same thing. By that point, you just don't feel safe in that area, so it's better to leave quickly and quietly. Kind of wished this scene was in the first movie, it would have given a good and entertaining impression of what our main cast is up against and how they ended up where they were in the beginning of the first movie.

    What I love about John’s character is his constant awareness. While everyone were still staring at the meteorite - he took his family away first. As soon as he had a glance on the monster - he rushed to his car where his deaf daughter was waiting for him to return. While they were hiding in the bar with others, as soon as the phone rang, he realized they're screwed and he ran towards the exit with his daughter; I'm pretty much sure everyone else were already dead by the time they escaped. And even in the shop, he takes a while to ask what happened.

    • @MrChickennugget360

      i'm confused as to why these creatures are not simply shot.

    • @Ross_Shevchenko
      @Ross_Shevchenko 2 years ago +276

      @MrChickennugget360 as far as I remember, their skin is somewhat indestructible by any convenient weapons and forms complete protection around their body - so even heavy shelling isn't really effective. I mean, they travelled through space on a piece of rock and survived absolute zero, entering the atmosphere, and the crash itself. I am not sure if chemical or other weapons were tested versus them. Many people complain that if a small girl realised you can use sound against them, the military should've too.
      But we know from scattered clues (like newspaper headlines) that these creatures arrived all around the world and created complete chaos within a few days. So I'm ready to forgive the lack of such details. People think all governments and armies in the world are sitting 24/7 ready for an alien invasion - but they are not. In the situation when the White House and Pentagon are on fire, I can easily believe there was a lack of strategy in the army's actions.

    • @The_Jazziest_Coffee
      @The_Jazziest_Coffee 2 years ago

      @Ross_Shevchenko on top of that too, the monsters are literally otherworldly
      our governments are COMPLETELY able to anticipate anything remotely in a realistic or unrealistic environment, whether that's an EMP strike, a nuclear bomb, robots and AI, whatnot
      sure, they won't be able to necessarily handle it very effectively, but bare minimum anticipate
      how on earth could you anticipate creatures with little to no information of anything about them, besides the fact that they kill humans?

Immediately canceling the whole thing, and just straight up go home to discover what’s going on. I’m sure they did feel fear, and obviously worried. The rest of the is just absolutely top realism.

    A lot of people are confused as to why Lee (the dad) “knew” to stay quiet or realized the key to survival was sound. I don’t think he knew. He just figured that when hiding, you probably shouldn’t make unnecessary noise that could attract a creature. Just as you shouldn’t stand in the middle of the street and jump around waving. He didn’t know that the monsters were blind and only relied on sound. He just knew that they should do as much as possible to stay hidden, just as you would if you were hiding from a murderer or playing hide and go seek. Once it all died down, they probably just continued to be quiet and hide because they didn’t know if one was still around and they should communicate through ASL anyways. It was just logical thinking on Lee’s part.

      Also like to state: It's clear the first one was going for the CAR, not the people. The car was being the loudest object in the vicinity because of the background noise in the car (Plus the cop was right there with his Walkie Talkie.) I mean Lee probably didn't know at the time, but at least thats how I saw it. It's also possible it was moving too fast and just slammed into the car on accident, but Idk. It seemed to be on purpose, though it didn't know it was a car obviously.

      Imagine being trapped in a dark room and hearing thousands of loud voices outside. Is it a crisis or just a crowd? You can’t tell because you can’t see it.

    The way it transitions to the girl and her not being able to hear the chaos is really well done suspense and horror. Imagine being a deaf person in this situation, you can’t hear the cries or screams of everyone, you can’t hear the Death Angels screeches, you don’t know what is happening or why everyone is running. All you can rely is your friend or family member in order to run away. It must be scary as shit and this movie puts you on that perspective and it’s horrifying

    I love how they stay consistent with the monsters messing with electricity. The radio messes up, the car won't start, calls drop. But also remaining consistent since (I believe) a running cat, especially an older one, wouldn't rely on that many electronics while starting one would require more electronics which explains why running cars are ok but starting one is difficult.

      You know the best way to take things like these monsters out?
      No drones, no auto-piloted planes, no cars with chips.
      The planes from WW2 and other tech from that Era.
      Heres why:
      They had to be flown manually with human power.

      It has NOTHING to do with any of that. It is more about the meteor falling and creating a disruption in the magnetic field. You know, "science".
      Also, his wife had no problem starting their sedan. His truck didnt start because its an older model truck and older model trucks can be hard to start. It also adds drama as they cant flee, they have to hide out and we get the end to the scence we just saw. BTW, he does eventually get it started.

    This is probably the best scene I've even seen of this kind. Perfectly set up with a little league ball game, the whole town gathered around the playing field. It's as ordinary a day as can be. Then, the ominous jet trail of the crashing spaceship in the sky, and everyone acting exactly as they should. They're not sure what's going on, but "let's get the kids home safe before we figure out what's what". Because no one reacted stupidly or uncharacteristically, it's that much more jarring when the aliens pop in and start slaughtering. In bad horror movies, all the victims do the dumbest thing possible so we shake out heads and say, "I wouldn't have been that stupid". In this one, it's scary because you know you would probably die if it happened like this around you.

    Both Quiet Place movies are ironically a couple of my favorite sound design movies out there. They do so much with so little and one thing I love about this scene is how jarring it is. Every step, every interaction between objects, every bite that Lee takes of that apple. You really feel it and in a way you kind of get put into the head space of the aliens. You want to silence every tiny little sound that everyone makes.
