WIX or WEBFLOW | Honest Freelancer Review

- WIX is one of the biggest and best web design platforms on the web. WEBFLOW is not so well known. Both offer great features but if you don't pick the right one for your situation, it could cost you dearly.
I lost hundreds of hours and thousands of dollar by starting my business with the wrong one.
This is an honest review on everything you need to know to make the decision between WIX or WEBFLOW.
*I am a Webflow Partner but DO NOT get paid to endorse Webflow.
*I do not hate WIX and actually endorse them for small business owners. (Don't @ me WIX)

I was looking for this since a while. Thanks Payton for this video. 👍
Thanks for your review! Started a app dev agency and moving my site from wix to webflow now!
Thanks Payton! Very helpful. As business owner, think we may jump on Webflow learning curve and give Webflow a go for redesigning our site. Well Done!
Wicked video man. Webflow is so sophisticated. Love that you shared your old website too.
Web Design Life thanks man! Hope it was helpful!
Great post. Thanks for the in-depth comparison!
All right. Nice review. Love the auto-adjust feature for Webflow.
However, just noticing that your old Wix website still looks more premium in terms of design.
thanks for this, I'm sold on webflow, you really addressed the same issues I've always had with Wix.
damn bro. I wish I had watched your videos 2 years ago. I ve poured great amount of time on Wix and it didnt get what I even wanted. Thanks for the video. Love it.
Thanks! Would love to see a Webflow vs. Duda video! There is literally no video anywhere on the internet right now comparing those two platforms.
what a great video. You really delivered a whole lesson in comparing the two platforms. Ha. Thank you! This was super helpful. I am very comfortable with Wix right now, but I totally agree with all the issues that you mention. I feel that if you are starting out as a web designer, Wix is definitely a great place to start on and to play with because you're still learning so many things like layouts and design principles and so on (it's way, way easier than WebFlow). I tried using Webflow earlier today and got really frustrated because of how robust it felt to me and how difficult it was to move things around and to just get stuff done.. I'm sure that something better than Webflow will come out soon, unless Webflow does a better job with their learning curve. Usually when things are difficult it's the problem with the design and not the user, right?
Exactly the review that I needed it!
i decided to use wix as i am only creating a website for my online shop.. Great video
Okay im going to try Webflow again. That learning curve whewww
same...
Hey Payton. Thanks for this great comparison. Both, Wix & Webflow are fantastic tools for webcreation. Webflow is a bit more pro, shure with faster loading times and much better SEO matters.
But the real good thing about Webflow is that you can personalize any of your dream designs. with almost no plugins. I love to work with Webflow
Couldn’t agree more!
nice video. just one mention: dont use red font color on blue background and vice versa
bixx it was actually a light pink but got Funky when I exported and uploaded! Great advice tho, thanks!
@@PaytonClarkSmith would be better to put all the same colors but each list has their own title. try not to use colors to differenciate this time :p
One is for your aunty to make a website for her cupcake company and the other is for web developers.
Ben Stanbury boom! I could have just said this in my video then ended it haha! Thanks for the feedback
I like this CMS you are speaking of because that is really what I need
This was really helpful! Thanks :)
Thanks for your video ! Quick question- when talking about the prices you charge when using webflow , on average how much time are you spending on making the website? Thanks my friend!
13:30 UX feedback: If the site is full-width, you should have some menu options visible and you don't have to hide them all behind a "menu" button. And when it's in mobile mode, ditch the hamburger button and use the word "menu" or at least have both.
Never tried Webflow, but it looks like a good scalable option. Would love to see a Webflow vs Duda video.
Your end analysis is 100% spot on. I used Wix for a month and it was great for simple stuff but I'm a web developer and I love Webflow so all its cons are a non-issue for me, however, there is one major limitation of Webflow; No support for animations with sound effects. Anybody find a workaround for getting sound effects to work?
Hi Payton, enjoying your YT content! How can you convince a business owner using wix to hand over development to an experienced developer?
super helpful thank you very much.
Editor X and Webflow would be a better comparison. Do you have a video on that? Regular Wix and Square space would be a more direct comparison.
Thanks for this. Webflow is the winner for sure.
Could you compare it to Editor X? Its being talked about as a webflow competitor but I'm not sure myself
Thoughts on Editor X? Becoming more and more competitive.
What about cost across let’s say 3 websites? I have one on wix, one on Webflow and another with a developer.... I want all under my control, so now having trouble deciding to retain both, or migrate all to one platform. I liked Wix for e commerce but my other design/art domains will be better on a more webflow I think. Any thoughts?
Hey, nice video! What is your opinion about Elementor?
Ludens Tam Tran elementor isn’t bad! I have used it several times.
However I still feel that Webflow gives me, as a designer, 10X more control over how my site looks.
Plus I love how easy it is to hand over to the client with the white-labeled CMS dashboard.
Those are just features that I feel set my work apart but elementor is not a bad option at all!
You seem like a great web designer , but using RED text on blue bg.. how did you get there ? 😅
Have you done a review on Wordpress vs Webflow? I design on Wordpress currently
Have you tried editor x ?
you know what, I love Webflow...😍
What is your opinion on Editor X by Wix?
Okay let me ask this, how difficult is it to deploy e-commerce via webflow? Wix was super easy.
This is the problem with your comparison. is that one was redesigned and the other neglected. perhaps would be fairer if you had time to have the same design. great content and advice though for sure.
LOL Okay I see what yall was saying that red made my eyes hurt. HAHAH
Victory Ford 😂 very true
Updated thoughts with Wix Editor X?
How we can create an admin login for the customer in wix
Does Webflow have a Velo for Wix counterpart?
Hi! WHat about the SEO for Webflow? HOw can we tweak the SEO parts?
Michael Taiwan great question! I have found it much easier to rank my Webflow sites than it was to rank my Wix sites. You have complete control over SEO with WF. You don’t have the fancy “done for you” seo tools but I found that those didn’t yield the best results. I actually have a Facebook group called “SEO and Webflow”. If you want to learn more come join us! facebook.com/groups/283825533054890/?ref=share
how do you compare webflow with bubble
Can you explain what the difference is between a $1600 - $5500 website?
Decone the attitude of the designer and the gravity of the problems the website will solve for the client!
What about webflow for beginers?
Love Webflow!!!!
I care about drag and drop. I dont know much about websites. i want something simple. I have so many problems with my wordpress site crashing maybe because im not a designer. Do you recommend Duda or webflow? Wich one will load faster?
Rene Fernandez to be honest I don’t have much experience with Dude but what I can tell you is I LOVE Webflow and my sites are as fast as I could hope for 👍🏻
@@PaytonClarkSmith Is it easy to use for non designers
@@renefernandez2066 It has a steep learning curve, but as with everything you will eventually get the hang of it.
@@user-yz4iy4kc6p I will probably just use aweber for a simple landing page. I have a cleaning company and want to capture emails.
@@renefernandez2066 That's probably the best option in that case.
I actually love wix. But webflow sounds good too.
Wix is a great solution for a lot of businesses without a doubt! It is popular for a reason. It’s the built-for-you website solution. Webflow is definitely more for professional web designers and web agencies.
Dear tell about wordpress
Webflow is Amazing.
which is recommended for ameturs?
Wix will probably be the easiest to start with but Webflow will be your best bet long term
I always thought webdevelopers either programmed the entire website or designed it in Photoshop/Adobe XD and then send it to a company who programmed it for them. The fact that you can sell websites to clients by making them with these kind of programs has blown my mind.
That's how it's done. Webflow hitting the market just made things much easier.
If you have a client you requires a customer to create a login page or maybe you want to create gift cards then Webflow is not the platform for you.
It doesn't make sense to learn a more complex platform if you are only going to build one site. Webflow doesn't seem like the best fit for the everyday Joe.
Totally agree! Wix is great for the one/time builder or “everyday joe”
I care about drag and drop. I dont know much about websites. i want something simple. I have so many problems with my wordpress site crashing maybe because im not a designer. Do you recommend Duda or webflow? Wich one will load faster?
omg...plz DONT use red texts with blue background.....
Nothing that you couldn't do in Wix by editing the html/css and add new classes/ ID's to make changes on the fly. As a WD you could just as easily copy and paste blocks of code to suit your needs irrelevant of which platforms you choose. Rather than tie yourself to a particular tool, export the code and edit it to your liking. These tools are a quick way to avoid learning the tools of the trade and at the end of the day you're neither here nor there. How some folks call themselves a WD is beyond me. As a WD you should be fluent in front and back end technologies or change your field to graphic design. *)
Colin Dante all good points! However I don’t think I’ll split hairs over what I consider myself (WD or GD). All about the value I can bring to clients and how consistently I can make good $$$ for the lifestyle I want to live! I will agree that that understanding both front and backend allows you to bring more value to clients in most cases! Anyways, thanks for watching and for the insight!
@@PaytonClarkSmith You're most welcome and honestly I wasn't directing my comments to you specifically but to let readers know its important to learn these technologies and not solely rely on a graphical interface. I'm in agreeance with you that at the end of the day its crucial to have fluidity and use whatever tools to facilitate your business. )
Colin Dante amen to all of that! That’s what sets web designers/marketers apart from regular designers. Thanks again!
@@PaytonClarkSmith Thankyou and all the best. ))
im paying 10$ a month for webflow, isnt wix more expensive??
Wix is constantly running discounts and deals which as far as I know isn’t something that webflow does too often but I do know webflow offers discounts if you pay your full and for students.
So there’s a good chance that you might be paying less than what I put on the video because of those reasons but either way it’s definitely just finding the best fit in price for your situation
@@PaytonClarkSmith ye im on student discount, wix dosent have student discount right?
stardark9 they might! I’m not 100% sure
I have a wix site and pay $99 / year for domain name and hosting, so for me it's cheaper
edited to add per year
Carolina cool! Do you use wix as a web designer/freelancer or a business owner?
Please re-do this for 2024
😁👌
Its very hard to read with this blue backeound!
Webflow looks good but its complicated.
If you learn to write HTML and CSS then hosting can be around $7-9 per month on a good host. Also CMS programs produce too much code bloat which slows down web pages and with page speed being a new ranking factor I do not recommend either Wix or Webflow.
Lori Eldridge great points! How long does it take you to code a site like this?
@@PaytonClarkSmith I didn't watch the whole video as I write code instead of using a CMS program. I tried a few CMS programs but it took too long to clean up the code afterwards.
@@Lorel509 You bring a good point Lori, but in this day and age, speed & affordability are the key to sustaining a profitable agency business. I personally use WordPress to build clients' websites and there many tools, plugins, and other tools/services that will make the website super fast (I'm taking less than 1 second to load), SEO friendly, and within $6 range per month for VPS hosting.
Lori,
Did I understood you correctly, that you code your own CMS for each of your projects? Please clarify. Also, do you use only HTML/CSS, or do you also use JavaScript?
Wix !!!
Anyone else check their mail at 5:05 haha
OhWhat World hahaha!
Dude, learn to code, better, faster, CHEAPER, more customizable.. This is only a side tool for professional, not the main one..
I feel that if you have great graphic design skills, you can overcome the "bad design" of Wix. I've made very good looking sites on Wix.
